Fitz's 2 INT's were bad mechanics, awful
Bill from NYC replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is ok Coach, but he needs to step into throws more than many other qbs. I like his "fastball," but he cannot stand still and throw it the way many qbs can. Please do not take the above to indicate that I think that Fitz is the problem with this team. Far from it. We are both well aware of where I think that the major problems lie. And, anyway you look at it we are an improved football team this season. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to address the above. If Evans got open consistently, he would be a hall of fame receiver. He would not have been traded for a late 4th round draft pick. He was a great deep threat, and put up very good numbers when Losman would key only on him. No hard feelings to Lee, but players such as Nelson make his departure far easier to handle. Nelson dosn't get enough time to put up great fantasy numbers, but the kid is clutch and yes.....he gets open. -
Overall, I agree with you. But there is room for flexibility. They were on the road, playing in thw wind. If we are to be honest, we are not 4-2 because of our dominating defense. Being up 3 does not seem like a safe scenario, but we have been winning on takeaways. As you said, we will never know what would have happened. I wanted them to run, but I tend to more than most. Gailey has been "right" this season more than Jauron was in all his time here combined. His offensive strategy is great, but I happen to disagree with it in this one instance.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coach, we can certainly agree to disagree about the call. I must however state that on almost every occasion this season where I was in strong disagreement with Chan this season, HE was proven right. Not this time imo. One of the reasons I feel this way is your last sentence above. Thinking that they will make the superbowl isn't realistic. BUT, playoffs are a possibility imo. I would have liked them to take the safe method, get a lead and fight it out. Besides, who is to say they couldn't have scored on a running play? I don't think that the Giant front 7 is great btw. They are not stacked at the LB position. In any event, we are 4-2 and coming home in 2 weeks. 5-2 would look pretty sweet! -
A Few Thoughts About The Game

I fully agree with the above. Gailey has done a wonderful job this year with his offensive scheme, and Fitz has done extremely well in implementing it. That said, they were is a spot to take the lead. And, they were on the road in a windy stadium, playing a team with good pass rushing DEs. I am not so angry either, but I do think that Gailey's decisions were too gutsy under the circumstances and cost us the game. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game

Simon, every linebacker on Alabama is great. Courtney Upshaw can bring it from the outside and is even great against the run. Donta Hightower and Nico Johnson are immediate starters as well. Alabama alone will provide top all we could ask for at LB. I hope our front office doesn't screw it up. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do it Jack! Hey, I'm posting Dead lyrics. We need to go all out and make the playoffs! OK my long time friend. I take this as a seal of approval from a moderator lol!!! And yes, Robert Hunter is a flat out genius, and I am not even a little surprised that you personally recognize this. Be well Brother! -
1) Could there be a Bills fan who isn't thrilled by David Nelson? The kid continues to get seperation from defenders and make plays. I will go out on a limb and say that I would rather have him on my football team than Lee Evans at this point. Blast away but one of them consistently gets open, and it ain't Evans. 2) Btw, on Freddie J's 80 yarder to the house, Spiller ran downfield with him and blocked. I appreciate effort like this. 3) I am all about Gailey as a coach, but he REALLY screwed up by not running the football late in the 2nd qtr. What was it? 2nd and 5? We attempted 2 passes and were knocked out of field goal range. This while up by 4, and getting the football to start the second half. That was an out and out horror show. 4) Daddy made whiskey and he made it well. Cost 2 dollars and burned like hell. I cut hickory just to fire the still. Drink a bottle and get ready to kill. 5) I am all about Gailey as a coach, and his decision to go for the field goal at the end of the half really did work. I thought it was a dumb decision, and even expected to miss the kick. 6) Did you people see the block by Urbik on the 80 yd. TD run by Freddie? He moved the entire defense to the left, and btw Pears (who I will get back to) finished off the play. This is essentially a large portion of what I have always wanted the Bills to do. 7) On the 3rd qtr. td by Manningham, Carrington was in coverage. This made me cringe and think about the horror days of Dick Jauron. The guy must weight 290. He blocked a field goal. It is NEVER OK for a human like this to be in coverage. Period. 8) For the third time.....I am all about Gailey as a coach. But can someone tell me why we were throwing with 4:14 left in the game? We were in position to run, score and win. The truth is that Gailey, (as much as I indicated 3 times that I like him), lost us this football game. You want to blame Fitz? Go ahead, but in my opinion he was doing what he was told to do. And yes, the pick Fitz threw in the 3rd quarter was a flat out awful play. There was ZERO chance of completion, and I mean none at all. I expect more from him. But I don't blame him for this loss. 9) Drayton Florence was awful today with the penalties. It was clearly his worst game as a Buffalo Bill. We can't afford this. If it keeps up they will draft another first round corner. OMG! 10) Number 4? Well, I was thinking of posting Grateful Dead lyrics in my weekly post. Actually, I thought that the Dead were just that, but John Kadlecik brought them back with "Furthur." And I will be at MSG to see them in November. 11) Pears, and for that matter Hairston showed us just how important it is to devote major resources to the OT position. Pears had his worst game as a Bill. It wasn't cold, but the winds were strong. There will never be a time where running the football and blocking will not play a major role in the Buffalo Bills football team, and I mean f^&%#%g never. 12) Sorry, but Batten didn't measure up to our hopes in terms of providing any pass rush. I hope that he picks up his game. Dareus? He is a monster. 13) 4-2 isn't so bad. We have 2 weeks to heal our wounds, and for Gailey to regroup. A win in 2 weeks would put us right back on track. People, enjoy your "off week" lol! 14) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smith by far imo. He has a bunch of key first downs already, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him take over a game.

Olivier, BIG TIME congrats for the birth of your daughter! May God bless her and your wonderful family!!! Try to keep in touch as much as you can, OK?

Moving on to the Giants Game
Bill from NYC replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the good info. Imo, the lack of response is due to the complete utter confusion going into this game. As your signature indicates, I am an opinionated person (although 100% willing to fess up when I'm wrong). That said, even the oddsmakers seem to have shrugged their shoulders and made the home team minus 3, indicating an even game. But due to your appeal for comments, I will give you what I got : I predicted that the Bills would be 5-11 this season. Well, we already CANNOT finish worse than we did last year. This alone is remarkable imo. Here are some of the improvements (not in order): 1) Fitz entered the season as the starter. 2) Dareus is providing a push up the middle. 3) Our receivers GET OPEN. My apologies to Evans fans, but he wasn't so good at this imo. 4) Fred Jackson. 5) Andy Levitre came into his own. 6) Wood is playing well this season. Sorry, he wasn't so great thus far. 7) Bell has showed promise. He looks bigger imo. 8) Nick Barnett is WAY better than Poz. 9) Turnovers. I left out a few. The Giants seem to have got worse. Their OL is a shipwreck. They are weak at LB, and their first round corner who they counted heavily upon is out. They are however stacked at DE, and this would appear to make us vulnerable considering our situation at OT. In all, we can win. My biggest jolt of confidence comes from the fact that imo Gailey can out-coach Fewell. I can't stand that stupid Jauron defense and am hoping that Chan can exploit it. Everybody will be looking at FJ. NOW is the time to get Spiller and/or Smith more involved imo. And, we of course need to pressure Eli. Can we? Why not? Ok, I gave it what I had. What do you think? -
Anyone else notice CJ Spiller...
Bill from NYC replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This year I have praised Bell week after week. The way things were handled wrt Bell were insane. The kid was green, hurt, smallish, and thrown to the wolves. Not a good place for an NFL team to be at the LT position, wouldn't you say? There was never any question about his agility. Not ever. The question wrt Bell (imo) is whether or not he can get bigger and stronger, and stay healthy. And btw, he does look bigger and better this season. He absolutely does have an excuse. Fred is tearing up the field. But it is inevitable that Fred will need to rest at some point. I hope that Spiller can make things happen when the time comes. -
Anyone else notice CJ Spiller...
Bill from NYC replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow.....OK. NGU said that Mr. Wilson has been known to interfere. I think that is almost a given. Did he interfere with the Spiller pick? Neither of us know. You are "confident" that he did not. I "suspect" that he did. I don't see a problem with this. -
Anyone else notice CJ Spiller...
Bill from NYC replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah.....those 16 yards from scrimmage sure do legitimize using a #9 selection in an NFL draft on him! Seriously, CJ gets a ton of room because he was drafted so high. I understand this. Whitner had supporters til the end as well. Who really wants to face the ugly fact that the team we love so much wasted premium draft picks? Like you, I hope that CJ can contribute to this football team. As a matter of fact he threw a nice block on a touchdown pass on Sunday. That said, the chances of him even approaching what one would want from a #9 running back are remote at best. Do you think Nix is glad that he made this selection as we speak? We never, ever will know, but I will always suspect that this pick was mandateded by Mr. Wilson. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller actually threw a key block which helped out Hairston on the TD pass (I think it was the one to Nelson). Other than that (which was an important play mind you), he seemed to be of little consequence. The coaches aren't giving him much playing time so it's going to be hard for him to prove himself. That said, if he was lighting things up, he would be in there more. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did. In fact, I was trying so hard to key in on the blocking that I missed some of the plays and had to catch them on replays. Pears does look bigger. He even plays with a swagger. When he gets beat, it doesn't appear that he is out-muscled. He could develop into a quality RT, it is possible. Like most other young OTs, he needs more experience to help with his footwork and balance. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My bad. I was running on 2 hours sleep. George Wilson DID own the first half. He was making plays everywhere and you are exactly correct. Whitner never made as many big plays in the entire time he was here as GW did in the first half of this game. -
The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.
Bill from NYC replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brother, imo you are a superior poster. That said, your entire post (which made sense btw) really did come down to the above. HOW to draft would be the question, no? -
1) If I was a General Manager of an NFL team, I would keep the contract status of David Nelson in my sights. This kid is a clutch player! It's as if he lulls you to sleep and then bangs you over the head. Yes, I am very high on him and what he brings to this football team. 2) Moorman is driving me crazy. A part of me feels as if he is on the way down, but he still is who he is. Kudos to you Brian. 3) I knew that Brad Smith would deliver. And I know that he has a lot more to contribute. I think that gadget players for the most part are a waste of money, but not Brad Smith. He is going to win us football games. I am sure of this. 4) OK, speaking of Brad Smith, did anyone else catch the block by Wood on that play? He was a flat out monster. I have never seen him make a play like that since he was drafted. If he can keep it going, he will be an integral part of this football team. 5) Fred Jackson has become a true leader of the Buffalo Bills. He ran over and praised his blockers on the sideline after his 1st quarter TD. You see, I love that s*-t. 6) Unlikely heros? How about Carrington and Reggie Corner? On that pick in the first quarter, Carrington got his arms up and deflected the football. It was wonderful. And Corner showed a ton of concentration and coordination to make that play. That my friends is how to win football games. It isn't all about about superstars. The 2011 Buffalo Bills Football Team is proof of this. 7) Let's talk about Chris Hairston for a moment, shall we? He is the complete opposite of Bell. Serioulsy. ON the TD run by Jackson in the first quarter, he completely engulfed the defender AND pushed him to the right. It was beautiful. Call me crazy, but I live for plays like that. BUT, Bell is much more agile. I thought that Hairston would require MUCH more help than he got. Can he be a prominent NFL LT? It's tough to say, but I will go out on a limb and state that this kid can play football. His mechanics say RT, but who knows? 8) Fitz? He managed the game quite well, and it is hard to not love the guy. 9) Chan Gailey? In 5 weeks he has managed to out-coach Belichick and Andy Reid. This says a ton and Chan, I offer you my thanks. I really wish he could read this. 10) Barnett or Poz? You tell me lol! 11) Sure, Vick did his time. I understand this. But the sadistic side of me was absolutely loving it when he was hobbling around the sidelines due to nice hits by Bullalo Bills football players. F U Vick!!! 12) OK, he we go.....Are we playing over our heads? Perhaps. Are we going to beat the Giants on the road? I don't have a freaking clue. But, the bye would seem to be coming at the right time both for the team and Bills fans. I want this football team to make the playoffs. If anything is a given, Bills Fans deserve this. Thanks to all for being a part of this adventure. We are in this thing together, and for keeps. 13) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the bills have the best O-line in the NFL?
Bill from NYC replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your posts are stiff and stupid. Answering questions and addressing points isn't your forte, is it? But, what is clear is that you are forming all encompassing opinions after 4 games, and demanding that others share your simplistic view at the risk of baring your sophomoric, idiotic wrath. Carry on, but you are offensive, and making a fool of yourself. -
Do the bills have the best O-line in the NFL?
Bill from NYC replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) As a group? Is this what we do now? Agree as a group? 2) Is it? Is it easier for people with lives, jobs, families, etc. to go over the roster of every single NFL team and disect their rosters? 3) The Bills OL played well in the first quarter of the season. Much of this is certainly due to the brains and quick release of Fitz, and the second effort of FJ. I think that some posters who complain about the OL want a bigger and stronger team. We watched ourselves go down the tubes due to draft selections such as Whitner, McKelvin, Lynch, Maybin, etc. Dareus, a big, strong DL, has already made an impact on this team. 4) You tell me if you will, who would you rather have right now, another strong OT or CJ Spiller and all the yards and TDs he has produced in 20 games? -
Buffalo has become 1 dimensional team
Bill from NYC replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I take the middle ground in this thread. As Promo states, the W/L column is what matters. That said, the weather will soon change. Running will matter more in a few weeks, as will strength on both lines. Spiller? Look at it like this.....Trent Richardson, if he stays healthy, might be in contention for the Heisman Trophy. Some mocks have him going in the top 10. So I ask, in his first 20 NFL games, would you expect Richardson to be more or less productive than Spiller? The answer would appear to be a no-brainer. We can only hope that Spiller, one of these days, develops into a productive player. -
Please let the Dolphins sign him...
Bill from NYC replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they REALLY want to lose they should go after Losman. -
Last year I was away for work in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was 90 degrees at night and I had nowhere to go and nothing to do. I watched a movie with Jennifer Anniston called, "Love Happens." I cannot even visualize how someone could make a movie this bad. I was SO traumatized that I called my girlfriend and asked her to google a Kyle Smith (he is the best) review. Here it is..... http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/item_7oEXRqmqBFh9q7T8EPDIdP

It's Time For Brad Smith
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, thanks for this. Again, another poster said he was shaking his hand on the sideline and wincing in pain after a first quarter hit. And his throws were not crisp throughout much of the game.
