  1. Honestly, you are correct. These days I get less angry about the Bills. Yesterday was an exception. When they showed the fans cheering and pounding the walls while down 24-10, I felt frustrated, as if Bills Fans were being cheated. It is true, I don't like to use (as a rule) early picks on RBs and DBs. Yet, we have so I want to see more production from them. I WANT Spiller to take over a game and win it for us loyal fans! I WANT Gilmore to make game changing/saving plays! I WANT Byrd not to fake or overly nurse injuries and pick of passes! For that matter I also want Dareus to go all out and disrupt offensive lines and yes, quarterbacks. So yes, I was angry and frustrated, and I'm sorry to all for getting so riled up. As far as the OL, Legursky was a step up from Brown, who is a center, not a guard, but I don't want to go there and get angry again. I thought Wood played well. So did Glenn until he got toasted for a key sack, but one cannot expect perfection. Pears, who I often defend on this board, seemed to have his hands full. Urbik looked OK, but on TV, I have lots of problems watching right guards for whatever reason(s). Remember, these guys were blocking for a rookie who can certainly run, but his pocket presence and vision are unknown at this point. One last thing....am I alone or do you and others wish he would tone down on the celebrations? Maybe it's me, but the team was fighting to reach .500 and the kid just got here. Maybe he should go back to the sidelines and talk to his coaches in lieu of jumping into the stands, at least for now. The good news is that at least our 2013 early picks are performing. As another poster pointed out, Kiko put up huge numbers in what might have been his worst game. Woods is very impressive imo, and Goodwin got open for a deep ball.
  2. You got me. I even confess to 2 agendas: 1) I am a crazed Bills Fan and I want them to win. 2) I am not going to make believe that any player, no matter when they were drafted, was a good selection if I don't think they were.
  3. Simon if you have noticed, I don't argue with you all that much about anything, let alone about defensive backs. But my friend, Gilmore hurt us today. And I do await the time that he proves to be worth such an early pick, let alone a "shutdown corner." Do you see it coming?
  4. 1) Kiko, Dareus and especially Kyle Williams did not play well today. Of the 3, Dareus redeemed himself to some degree, but there was little pass pressure up the middle, and the run defense was soft. The time of possession stats were disgusting, and these 3, along with Marrone must share the blame. 2) Spiller had 5 carries for 55 yards. Many of his carries seemed to fall 1 or 2 yards short of a first down. Still in all, these were great numbers for a situational running back. 3) Fwiw, the 51 yard field goal by Carpenter would have been good from 60 yards. That was a truly amazing kick. 4) Gilmore was pathetic on the short pass for a long gain with approx. 11 min. left in the 2nd quarter. He was blocked out of the play and pushed around like a rag doll. That said, if we want to pretend that he was a good draft selection/shut down corner, we can do that too. We an also debate as to whether or not Santa Claus is real. 5) If any of you can think of a reason that Chris Hogan is a member of this football team, please drop me a line. 7) Lewis is weird. He carries the football like a loaf of bread. I am not seeing pocket presence. BUT, he seems OK. It's hard to explain. 8)I ain't preachin', 'cause I don't know, How to make fast things move along slow. I can't stop it, can't make it go. Just 'cause I say it..... that don't mean that it's so, no, no. Watch what you hear now, make sure it's clear now, Just 'cause it's said, that don't mean that it's true. 9) Searcy has lots of issues, but I maintain that I will take him on my football team any day. 10) At RWS, Bills Fans, down 24-10 just were not giving up. I was really proud to be a Bills Fan seeing this. But, this is an ongoing state. 11) OK, I confess.....I am not crazy about Marrone. But I credit him for the 4th quarter pass to Chandler. It was a gutsy call that worked. 12) Gotta give kudos to TJ Graham. I didn't think that he had it in him to get open and catch passes. Goodwin looked OK too, and Chandler is actually looking very good imo. 13) Overall, the defense was unimpressive. 14) If we are to win a few games with Lewis, imo there will need to be a lot more planned qb draws/runs. Hey, there is little to lose. 15) Go Bills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Dibs, not that you should give a f#@k, but I appreciate your posts. I don't necessarily agree with all of them but what is great about this board is reading posts that are well thought, and that posters have devoted time to. My Robert Hunter lyrics cost me 30-45 minutes per week lol. The above said, I do NOT understand the position you are taking wrt the salary cap. I follow this as much as I can and have no idea where you are going. It quite possibly could be me. Are you telling me that postponing the 7 million dollar cap hit of Fitz until 2014 will not lessen the Bills cap space next year? And let's toss in perhaps another 4 mil for Mark Anderson, shall we? Are you saying that this will not matter in 2014? If so, would you please explain? Also, is time approaching when teams will be mandated to spend a certain percentage of the cap, no? Here is what I see from at best, a semi-educated view..... 1) The Bills have 20 mil. in cap space and it sits in the owner's pocket, courtesy of a flim flam puppet, Russ Brandon. 2) I cling to the premise that the organization was given the choice of Byrd OR Levitre. 3) In an idiotic, Levy/Jaurnesque move, they chose to pursue Byrd in lieu of their best, most durable blocker. This with a rookie QB. 4) The most expensive players on an NFL Football Team are generally their QB, LT, and their best pass rusher. Denver is a great example of this. It works. 5) The Bills pay literal pennies for Glenn and Manuel. Mario costs a fortune, but the other 2 come SO cheap that there was/is a ton of money left for no reason, and I do mean NO REASON. They could have paid Levitre, easily. 6) The good news was the draft. They traded down and both second round picks are clearly solid players. Even if EJ doesn't develop, Woods and Kiko appear to be first round talents. Again, please if you will explain how putting off 11 mil. in cap space (with 20 mil to spare) doesn't matter in 2014. Frankly, I don't believe it.
  6. I just heard he will possibly be out 8 weeks on Sirius.
  7. Bingo!!! I am very surprised that this isn't mentioned more often. They put off huge cap hits until 2014, this with 20 mil just sitting there. Creative accounting, but this will not help us at all next season.
  8. I will credit Mike Pettine all day long. I give Marrone less room. He is the head coach and appears to be learning on the job. And, he imo he is wedded to an offensive system that wears out the defense. The Bills have employed recent head coaches that had zero chance to be good. I am not placing Marrone in that category but I want to see him improve.
  9. 1) Obviously, it was a shame that EJ went down. What sucks too is that he had time to run out of bounds. He is young and unpolished, but I sense that he is going to be very good. 2) Sure, the punt return before the deuce at the half was a killer, but the stupid play calling led to it. Two useless runs out of the hurry-up, and an incomplete pass under pressure. Then Marrone ran out the clock. 3) Aaron Williams played like the Aaron Williams I remember. He was beaten like a drum, turned around, and smoked all night. At one point an announcer called him "our best corner." Just a pitiful performance. 4) Mario Williams played as well as he did in the 4.5 sack game. Almost constant pressure and he forced several plays. 5) Colin Brown threw a nice block on a 3rd and 6 run in the 1st quarter. Then, he promptly gave up 2 brutal sacks. What a mess. 6) Robert Woods plays like a polished professional. It is SO easy to forget that he is a 21 year old kid!!! Nothing but high hopes for this player. 7) You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot, For a taste of your elegant pride. May be going to hell in a bucket, babe, But at least I'm enjoying the ride. At least I'm enjoying the ride. At least I'm enjoying the ride.! 8) Because Marrone, (who is getting on my nerves more and more) just wouldn't stop with the hurry-up, some of the defenders appeared to be a little winded at the end of the game. This might explain some of the key gains by an old, hobbled Magahee. 9) I'm saying that there must be better punters on the street looking for work. The best part of Powell's game was his ability to go after returners who were of course streaking down the field. 10) Dareus played very well today. I could see the effort he was putting into his game. The kid hurried up to scrimmage, and appears to be in 10 times better shape than I have seen him in since he has been on the Bills. 11) Note to Searcy....catch that ball kid. You had a pick six. 12) Tuel? Someone forgot to tell me that he has no arm. In terms of arm strength, he made Fitz look like Drew Bledsoe. 13) Hughes, Kiko and Lawson all had big games. You wouldn't know it from the score, but it's true. 14) A challenge flag because you saw motion. Is this how it works Marrone? I have a better idea...."Hurry up" and learn the rules of professional football. 15) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Well, in terms of his value to the Bills as a #8, he should certainly place an S in front of his new name.
  11. https://www.google.com/#q=jake+locker+stats Not too shabby
  12. Someone (i think Scott Pioli) said on Sirius this morning that Locker had a 130 qb rating when he got hurt. Does this matter at all to you, or would you just rather insult a player who played well for this team? C'mon man......
  13. Good post John. I must however admit that the record is not meaningless to me. It feels good to know that games still matter in terms of the division, even if this is fleeting. As much as we and others complain, one good thing about being a Bills fan is the euphoric feeling we get when we actually do win a game. Seeing our top 3 picks play really well is something that I am unfamiliar with. Let's make it 3-2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Wow! This is a rather obscure song in terms of the Dead. And thanks! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. 1) Sure, I know about the punt return where he called a fair catch and was open enough to gain 5 or 10 yards. Yes, I get it. But I want players like Jim Leonhard on my football team every day. I always liked him more than Whitner and people said I was crazy. Whatever. 2) Say any bad things that you want to about Graham. Go ahead, and I will agree. But his move at the end of the 2nd quarter on the end around was just sick. 3) Woods is every single thing that I thought he would be, and even more. Pro ready? This kid gets OPEN!!!!! 4) Glen had a brutal game today. In the 2nd quarter, the sack that caused the fumble was all on him, and he was all alone to recover it but could not. And btw, a he committed a stupid penalty just before this play. Not cool. 5) Shaking in the bedroom, covers on your head Cringing like a baby at the hand beneath the bed. Phantom in the closet, scratching at the door, The latest mystery killer that you saw on channel four, When Push Comes To Shove, you're afraid of love. 6) Do you want to talk about who won us the game today? I love talking about this s%3t. Well obviously, let's go straight to Kiko. He was just awesome. What a GREAT draft selection he was. Seriously. More to come on this..... 7) Gotta give a big time and well deserved shout out to Easley on Special Teams. Man, does he get down the field in a hurry and make sure tackles!!! 8) Sorry to question the coaches after a win, but there seemed to be too many sequences in which we ran on 1st and 2nd down, only to throw on 3rd down. It was as if Joe Gibbs or Vince Lombardi were calling these plays. I don't know..... 9) What happened? When did Aaron Williams turn into a good football player? He was horrid. Seriously, the guy couldn't play at all until now. He played his ass off today! 10) His numbers weren't great, but Spiller played well imo. He was less tentative, and this matters. 11) Getting back to who won us the game, Marcel Dareus played the best game of his life. And yes, I do remember the game against the Redskins in which he put up great numbers against a decimated OL. Today, he was just off the charts great. He enabled the rest of the defense to do great things because he clogged up the middle AND was getting to Flacco. I was just so proud of him today. 12) I want some help here, but on the TD run by FJ, it looked to me as if Colin Brown threw a key block! Wtf??? 13) I am not trying to convince any of you that Searcy is good. I will however maintain that I do want him on my football team. 14) Congrats to all. We really do deserve wins, ya know? 15) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. And I hear you Simon but it begs the question.....does Marrone have a program that he can sell? Does he have a system in place that is proven? Nick Saban does. He wins, and continues to do so. The Crimson Tide will probably not win the title this year (although they might), but Saban has a system that has worked and will work. So did Parcells, Gibbs, etc. I just feel like this football team is rushing to do things that even the coaches don't really know how to do at the NFL level. Brother, vs. the Panthers they ran the hurry-up before the deuce and gave them an extra time out. They stopped the clock at 2:07. This was 100% insane! My fear wrt Marrone was that he was hired because he was a Brandon (who I wish would be fired) crony. I hope that I am wrong Simon, I really do. I hope that Marrone has a clue.
  17. I can't argue with much of the AJ, but some things are disturbing. We have a rookie head coach, OC, and a rookie qb who missed much of the preseason. What do they do? They play hurry-up, which keeps the defense on the field longer. This makes it tougher for them as well as their rookie DC. What is the rush to hand Spiller the ball and send him up the middle? I am not seeing it. I simply think that the Bills offense needs to be a bit more sophisticated before they focus SO much on the hurry-up.
  18. They also screwed themselves, because salaries are going down for most positions except quarterbacks, who are receiving insane contracts. Gotta respectfully disagree my friend. Walker and Dockery were dogs. Levitre was FAR better than average. They traded back into the second round to get him (I would have been happy with him in round 1), and he did every single thing they asked of him, to include filling in at other positions. He was also quite durable. Sorry, I can't find a valid comparison.
  19. I hate doing so, but I agree with this. At some point they have to stop accommodating players. A poor tone was set, and as much as it hurts, they are doing the right thing wrt Byrd.
  20. You should trade screen names with the OP. This would explain his title.
  21. Makes sense. And btw I don't think that any team would give us a #1 for Spiller. Perhaps a number 2, but I am not positive of this. I agree that the Colts got the worst of the Richardson trade, and I'm a Bama Fan.
  22. Does Greg Jerman count as a starter?
  23. So true. This is one of the toughest things to explain to people on a message board imo. The Bills defense with Bryce, Bruce, and Big Ted could have been one of the best ever imo. I am talking top 10, perhaps less. But the Bills had poor qb play and NO blocking. I mean zero, and this great defense was often gassed in the 4th quarter. Call me old school, whatever. But I cannot picture a place in this football league when it will make sense to let your best blocker walk.
  24. So do I JA, but why do it? The Bills are overflowing with cap space, and Levitre, despite what his naysayers claim, was an exceptional player for us, and certainly the most durable. People harp on the fact that he never made the pro bowl. So what? Whitner did. Which one do you think did more for the Bills? Not only that, our qb is a rookie and our biggest weapon is a small running back. Levitre is even more fit for this idiotic hurry-up scheme than a 330 pound blocker. Why not keep such a solid player?
