  1. Mike Williams. DJ Fluker was drafted #11 and I credit him in a big way for getting his team to the playoffs. I think that with the new CBA we might be seeing more of this. Draft picks are just not that expensive any more.
  2. Excellent observation. SJ and Fitz were second teamers together before they became starters and developed quite a chemistry. EJ was a rookie who lost time due to several injuries. They had little time to get used to each other.
  3. Thank you for bringing a smile on this freezing morning after yet more snow! Your post has some merit mind you, but coming from a poster with your screen name makes it GREAT, something Bills Fans can understand. OK, other NFL Fans get to see their team win football games, but they miss out on a huge amount of comedy!!!
  4. I totally see your point, but I can't say that I fully agree. When the Bills make bonehead plays such as the pair of drops by SJ and Chandler, it cements our image of being a laughing stock of the NFL. A bunch of clowns. One good thing about being a Bills Fan is that we truly appreciate wins! I shouldn't care as much as I do (this probably applies to most posters imo), but I am literally thrilled after a Bills win, even if it comes against another lousy team. 8-8, to me, is WAY different than 6-10 because we have not seen .500 in much longer than I care to recall. The Bills enter this season with a completely unproven coach and a QB who at this point looks about the same as his backup. We simply cannot afford to give away games.
  5. Good post Dennis. I am a Tide Fan and don't want Mosley at #9. As for the OTs, I prefer Robinson for the reason you cite above. He might play RT for a while, and he is listed as 15 pounds heavier than Matthews. I think he could last to #9 if there is a big run on QBs.
  6. In terms of Mosley, I am a HUGE Crimson Tide Fan and have been watching him for years. Mosley is an all around player. He is WAY better than average in coverage, but I don't consider him great against the run. The Bills need a linebacker who can do something against the run. They have an over matched head coach and a green OC who insist on playing "hurry-up," this with inexperienced, unproven quarterbacks. They need to improve their TOP stats. A run stuffing linebacker, whoever it may be, would really help.
  7. Disclaimer: I never saw him play other than youtube clips. With this out of the way, he hits like he is trying to destroy his opponents. I don't know his 40 time but he is very quick, and seems to get great angles to the ball carriers. He even looks like a good pass rusher. Now the bad news..... The kid is 5'11, and his arms are less than 30 inches long. He is said to weigh 243 which is fine, but the height and arm length are obvious concerns. He reminds me of London Fletcher and for those who remember, Damien Covington. If any of you have seen him play, I would appreciate your takes. Thanks.
  8. I am just so sorry for your loss. I ask God to comfort you and your loved ones during these sad times.
  9. Very good history lesson above. People forget just how bad the Bills OL was several years ago. This crew is a group of all stars compared to them. Still, they need to improve, especially at LG. And as I said before, they are extremely thin at OT.
  10. For the record, I am not in favor of trading SJ because I don't think he has much value. This is strongly due to his (imo) inflated contract. As for the above, you might be right. The thing is, Bills Fans ARE pretty good at spotting so-so players. We should be, whereas we frequently draft them in early rounds, to include round 1 (see Whitner, Donte). SJ gets open. This is beyond dispute. I have seen enough of him to have the opinion that he is not a clutch player. And to expect him to become one at his age is (again, imo) unrealistic. What disturbs me in this thread is fans getting angry at ourselves for having an opinion. We all have bad days mind you, but to view SJ as closer to average than he is to great just isn't so much of a reach, and deserves little scorn.
  11. Not in the case of Fluker, who is a pure RT and he looks like he will be a literally great one. The Bills were lucky last year in terms of injuries to OTs. Other than Glenn, there isn't all that much talent and even less depth. Also, if EJ proved anything last season it's that he needs all the help he can get. And if he does turn out to be a bust (a strong possibility), it would be great to have a talented OL in place for the next quarterback.
  12. This is because their inexperienced, overmatched coach was going with the hurry up far too often. This with a rookie OC, rookie qbs, and a bigger than average offensive line. Not a promising scenario, no?
  13. Jackie Robinson had to gut it out sans a huge cadre of support. It isn't that way this time. In fact, I am thinking that a vast majority of football fans either don't care at all or support him. Sam will be able to portray himself as a modern day Jackie Robinson. Good for him, but it just isn't the case imo. As for my stance on the "issue," I am glad that he is entitled to announce what he does and how he feels. Good for him. What scares me is that in a 100% hypothetical scenario, if AJ McCarron announced that he is against gay marriage because of his religion, picket lines and boycotts would not surprise me. My analogy might be bad, but my point is that I believe in people being able to express their views without being denigrated. So, congrats to Sam. Is he Jackie Robinson? I don't think so.
  14. Many said the same thing about Losman. And btw, I said it about Rob Johnson.
  15. Years ago there was a poster with a suicidal screen name that I wish I could remember. He was having an intelligent discussion here with a poster called "Pass the Pipe." It was great! The "Pills and Bills" name does evoke images of a depressed Bills Fan watching the game with a six pack, a couple of Prozacs and yes, blood pressure medication. And yes, we are getting older. If you see someone called "20 mg. Zocor from NYC," it will be me with a new screen name.
  16. Badol, since I am reading this on a computer screen and not at one of our tailgates, I am going on my gut that the above are serious comments, all true I might add. And it doesn't even take into account Levy's 2006 draft, which was unthinkably bad. As awful as anything one could imagine, except perhaps his hiring of Jauron. That said, when I finished reading this, for some reason I started laughing. It struck me that being a Bills Fan, while not for the timid, involves as much comedy as pain. We have a new poster with the screen name, "Pills and Bills." This says a great deal, no? Screw it. I'm gonna watch free agency, hope for a good draft, and keep on going. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. In that time span, how many of our head coaches went on to be a head coach at another team?
  18. I am just so sorry. My prayers continue.
  19. The only thing I must add there is that I am strongly of the opinion that the Bills liked another qb (Geno Smith?) as much as they liked EJ. I am unable to see this as not being true. If you were a GM and you thought a QB was head and shoulders above the rest, would you trade back 8 spots and risk losing him? I surely would not.
  20. I do not dispute the above at all Doc. But I also think that Thad is not at his ceiling either. He stepped up and played fairly well last season and I for one think that he earned himself a place in the NFL. The Bills 'franchise qb" went down and there was no real difference. I am hoping that the Bills do not trade him but in a hypothetical situation, if the Bills draft a young qb this spring and he looks good, I wouldn't take less than a 4th round pick.
  21. This is something that gets lost around here imo. I think that now, right now, Lewis is a better qb than EJ, or at the very least as good. This SHOULD be a concern to Bills Fans. The Bills would be nuts to not draft another QB next season. And if they truly do like a player, they should do it in round 1.
  22. Hey, screw this topic. I want to offer my congrats for a GREAT screen name!!! I am the last person on earth to advocate illegal drug use, but what a name!!! It sends images of a suffering fan taking prescribed anti-depressants after the Atlanta game! We used to have a poster (and he seemed to be fairly informed) who called himself, "Pass the Pipe." I haven't seen him in a while. In any event, welcome to the board.
  23. I am a Tide Fan and have seen most of Mosley's games. I for one think that he was better as a senior. In previous seasons he was more of a coverage lb as far as I could tell. Last season he was a complete linebacker. He reminds me a lot of Kiko. That said, #9 seems too early to draft him. If the Bills stay where they are I hope that they take a qb, pass rusher, or an OT. If they trade down, guards, tight ends and linebackers become more appealing.
  24. Is he from the Herm Edwards learning tree?
  25. All true, but it would be truly GREAT to have him "in place" if you know what I mean......
