  1. Not by much E.A. Please remember that Levy turned down "multiple trade offers" for the #8, and said that some offered more than an extra second round pick. That draft was loaded with good blockers. Absolutely stacked, let alone the fact that Cutler and Ngata were sitting there at 8. Then, they traded a 2nd and an early 3rd to move up and draft McCargo ahead of Nick Mangold. Nice, huh? And yes, Kyle Williams was a total score with first round ability and off the charts work effort. He saved the 2006 draft from being a total wash, or so one might think. But what did happen was that this draft went on to define Levy and Jauron, the worst combo I for one have ever seen.
  2. I agree. Spiller and even EJ (in terms of running) have been treated like sacred cows. They need to earn their money, score touchdowns, and win us football games. So do I. I think he will be a factor in the Bills offense and get the football in the end zone.
  3. BV, I was against the Marrone hire. I considered him under credentialed and a Brandon Syracuse crony. I never hid this view. And, his clock management was really piss poor, especially at halftime. This is beyond dispute. That said, I am sensing that you might admire what he did in this scenario, if of course it is true. I must say that again.....IF this is true, I actually am fond of what was alleged! An announcer on Sirius said this afternoon that he was not into drafting EJ. I like the fact hat if Marrone goes down, he will go down swinging (unlike the slow blinking Jauron). Look, this team has problems. We know this. But I am impressed with Marrone standing up. I am going to root even harder for him. I really do hope that Coach Marrone is successful. I never thought that he would be but again, I love that if he tanks, he will go down fighting. Am I making sense lol?
  4. Hand off to Spiller, gain of 2. 1) Draw. 2) Spiller 3) Gain of 2
  5. 1) Thanks SDS for providing a place where I have been able to talk to Bills Fans for 15 or so years. Time does fly. I really can't thank you enough Bro. 2) Big time thanks to every past and present moderator. You people do the work, and do a tremendous job. 3) Thanks to those who disagree with me. If every poster said that QB is the most important position and focused on the OL the way I do, there would be little for me to discuss. Special thanks to metz lives and cb97. These two generally detest my way of viewing this team. They might even dislike me personally LOL but they are willing to engage me in Bills conversation. This matters; thanks again. 4) One complaint.....people, PLEASE stop diminishing your comments about the Bills because you are "not a GM," etc. You people have witnessed and been tortured by 14 years of absolute horror. You KNOW this football team. It would be hard to be this bad even if one tried. I am going to go out on a limb and say that if I was in charge, I would have drafted better than the "professionals" in 2006 and yes, 2014. BADOLBILZ probably would have won us a superbowl. 5) I for one like this board the most before the draft. Thanks to all of you draftkiks for caring enough to post YOUR thoughts. 6) Hey Bills Vet.....I am going to address your post (last one in page 4) in the big thread about the discord between Marrone and the brass. I sense that we are seeing the same strange thing. 7) MOST of all, thanks for those who indulge me enough to read my "thoughts." As amateurish as they are, it takes more work than you might think. Seriously, thank you all, BIG time. 8) Let's win! Let's win freaking football games!!!!! C'mon Mario, put Cutler out of his misery on Sunday! Hey CJ, score me 2 touchdowns! Give us a pick six Gilmore!!! 9) Thanks again to all, and may God bless. 10) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Actually, I pick them to finish last in their division, but who knows?
  7. And how will he get into the HOF if the QB is not good and the head coach MIGHT be even worse? Oh, and how do you like Hackett? The above doesn't even take into account the real possibility of any player getting injured. I hated this trade from day 1. HATED it!!! That said, many posters I respect are ok with it; some even like it. I don't quite liken it to Whitner in 06. That was as dumb as one could possibly imagine. Watkins might even make a bit more sense than wasting a #10 on Gilmore. I suppose that I liken this pick in terms of being stupid somewhere around the Spiller selection, perhaps not quite as bad.
  8. Best post of the thread! My daughters are now Bills Fans, and it's my fault. They tell draft day stories about me, and call me after the first round of every draft to this day to hear me lament, and try to soothe the pain I am usually in from stupid moves. There is nothing we can do. There just isn't. We are in this mess together unless they leave town. Then of course all bets are off. Good luck to the OP, I could just never quit. The truth is, I don't want to either.
  9. He WAS a rookie. I really do get this. But he looks pretty bad as we speak. Can he put it all together? I hope so. But the guy is 6'4" and his passes are being blocked. Others are WAY off. If it was up to me, he would be running the read option and buying time. He is not looking like a pocket passer at all from where I sit.
  10. And you are doing the exact same thing that you rail against. Mallet's play has been horrible? How many regular season passes has he thrown? Has he thrown 20? But you are writing him off. EJ sucked last season and has looked worse this preseason despite having a year in the system, more talent around him, and health. Tell me, how do you rate EJ? They didn't sign Orton only because Tuel and Lewis suck imo. What do you think?
  11. Yes, but in all probability someone else will. And he might be the worst QB in the league. But he also might be much better than any QB on the Bills. Sucks for us, no?
  12. I heard Marrone say on Sirius that he called Schwartz and offered him the DC job. He said it was an easy sell because of all the talent.
  13. All of my fears about this trade have materialized. Watkins is injured and EJ looks beyond awful. This despite the fact that he knows the system and has more weapons than he did last year. If this doesn't get better the entire crew, with Brandon leading the parade, should be marched right out the door.
  14. A receiver needs a quarterback to get the ball to him. Tell me, is there ANY QB situation bad enough to make you not like trading away the future for Watkins? Seriously, if the Texan were sitting at #9 with Fitz, should they have made that deal?
  15. I am serious.....Buddy probably wanted to go to bed.
  16. Fantastic article Dave. And before he got hurt with the Jets, he was easily one of the best players in the league.
  17. Does this mean we should cut Manuel? He had a few "demonstrations," no?
  18. Agreed, but who brought in this amateurish Syracuse contingent? Brandon, their Syracuse crony?
  19. I wonder if he tweeted this before or after he hobbled off the field with yet another injury.
  20. The above is a great point! Its a shame though because he was damn good last season.
  21. Bad fans? Sorry but a portion of the fans could have made better decisions than a lot of the idiocy we have witnessed. Bills Fans are great. People see my license plate holder, open their windows and yell "GO BILLS!" And I am 450 miles away. You and I didn't hire the sorry lot of coaches and GMs that have held this team back. Nope, the fans are innocent and loyal to the core. I think we are the best fans in the NFL.
  22. When they drafted EJ they picked up a mid second round pick in the process. This was a great move. This April, despite no clear indications that he is a franchise QB, they traded away a first round pick in 2015. This move isn't looking good at all (although things could hopefully change). If this bold move works, great!!! If not, Marrone, Whaley and Brandon should be driven to the airport and tossed out of town. Jmo.
  23. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good point. It will become the fault of the fans if the Bills continue to be disgraced on the field. I get it.
  24. It occurred to me that if Watkins even ALMOST lives up to his hype, EJ will have no less than 3 wideouts who are clearly superior to Stevie Johnson. This of course is only my opinion, but a strong one. Woods looks very good, and forgive me because I did not know just how good Mike Williams is. Not only that, Chandler is still there and the young TEs really don't look so bad. The defensive front is so strong and deep that a player like Searcy can deliver big plays. Spikes is one true football player and Bradham looks like a different person out there imo. I consider the secondary to be at least average. Sounds good, right? It's not. EJ was flat out terrible last night and if it continues, there needs to be 100% accountability. Not from EJ mind you. Not many people on this planet can be good NFL QBs. As far as I'm concerned if he doesn't improve, Marrone and Hackett should not last the season. Whaley and Brandon (who I think hired Marrone)should also be shown the door. These men staked their careers on EJ, to include trading away a first round draft pick. They didn't draft a qb in later rounds when there were many out there. In some way, this mess must be cleaned up. When EJ rolled out early in the game, he hit Williams with a nice pass. In the pocket he was awful and has a lot to learn. The good news is that this team can win if EJ isn't horrible. Sadly, the latter is far from a foregone conclusion.
  25. I understand what you are saying wrt Watkins. And I admit that its hard to justify not wanting the Bills to draft a player who has such obvious talent. Taking this a step further, I think that EJ, if used and developed properly, does have a chance. Will our coaches be able to groom him into being a top 15 qb? Maybe, but being objective its hard for me to picture. Once again, sorry. These coaches took 330 pound blockers and a ROOKIE qb, and had them racing up to the line of scrimmage to hand the football to Spiller to gain 2 yards up the middle. Can you justify this? I cannot. EJ can run. I would like to see him buy some time by rolling out and throwing the football if he sees an open Watkins or my man Woods. If not, let him take off and gain 20 yards. In any event, if Watkins can win games for the Bills, I will praise him week after week and praise the selection. I have been wrong my share of times. I thought Rob Johnson was a mega-talent and would lead us to victory, ok? As for KUJO again, I watched almost every game of his college career. He played on easily the best OL in the history of college football. I suggest a specific highlight video of the championship game vs. Notre Dame to see who was doing what on that OL (I will look for it when I have time). It's a long one. As much as I like the Bills to draft blockers and DL, he wasn't my choice. Not at all. And thanks for the dialogue. Its fun talking football with you when you aren't angry.
