AP smoked "a little" weed before his court appearance
Bill from NYC replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dean, no need for a witch hunt. The witch is in the room. He beat his kids, one until his testicles were bleeding. Let's not forget his prior incident at he club, on which he of course blamed the police. My hope is that he is punished to the full extent of the law for this, and every other crime he commits and worry not, there will be more. The real shame is that this cretin is getting paid. -
Marcel Dareus named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a rare occasion in which I am not quite sure I agree with you. In these parts, NYC Police Officers earn approx. $50,000.00 less per year than suburban cops who do a literal fraction of the work. NYC Police Officers take WAY more political and physical risks. It is a better life to be a police officer in Old Brookville, NY or in NYC? Who really WINS Badol? That said, Mario, from what I can see, gives it his all on virtually every down. It is clear to me that he cares big time about winning football games. His salary is sick, but he earns it imo. He makes the players around him better and he plays hurt. Imo if the Bills make the playoffs this season, Mario will be a huge reason. If he gets hurt, our chances are bleak, or so I see it. I think that Mario is a true professional, and one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise. -
Darin, these contracts are not so expensive now with the new CBA.

Yes, we need guards. I said before the season that Pears is not a guard. He is a brute strength RT. Period. As for the defense, this game tells us that we might even have some depth up front. This is very encouraging. Yes I did and it bordered on cowardice. Granted it was a huge defender, but he was in a position to make a block and it looked as if all he did was lean his shoulder in there. That was an awful play.

1) Gotta start with a shout out to Carpenter. That kick was miraculous! Just freaking great!!!!! And it had a few yards left! 2) In the middle of the 3rd quarter, Watkins was mauled by the defender. The flag was tossed by the official who was RIGHT THERE and picked up. Is that how this works? The league should look into this. I HATE complaining about calls, but this was simply outrageous. Sadly, more to come on this topic. 3) Marcel Dareus played the game of his life. On his sack for a forced fumble, he was clearly held. Today, this kid was every single thing we wanted him to be in every way. 4) Here is the deal wrt Pears. He is an average Right Tackle. He doesn't suck at RT. He has no business playing Guard. NONE! But he retaliated on the late hit by Fairley, and he is a tough guy. I respect him for fighting for his teammates. 5) Help on the way, I know only this; I've got you today Don't fly away..... 'cause I love what I love and I want it that way. 6) Watkins was just SO good today, I am going to re-evaluate the trade, which I was totally against. 7) Orton? I need more time to sort out what he does. We probably all do. But his pass to Goodwin was each and every bit as good as it gets, no? 8) Woods was blocking his ass off today. He threw a block on a run by FJ in the 3rd quarter that MADE the play. 9) Schwartz was another person who confused me today. At the end of the first qtr., they rushed only 3 on 3rd and 8 and gave up a td. I KNOW that Pettine would have applied more pressure. That said, his defensive calls overall were VERY good imo. Let's face it, the defense kept us in the game, so I am going to give credit and thanks. 10) Have I blasted Gilmore when I saw fit to do so? Certainly. Well, the pass interference call against him in the 2nd quarter was absolute BS!!!!! If anything, Johnson hit him in his facemask. The truth is that he played a decent game today and this football team needs him to step up. I am thrilled to see him play well. 11) OK, I have a confession to make. I watched the game today in a crowded place. After one of Marcel's brutal sacks I yelled, "He's my son!" People were looking at me and the replay and gave me some room and strange looks. Yeah, I am a Bills fan. 12) Sorry, I am pissed at the fact that we had 2 delay penalties in the first quarter. We are not a good enough team to do this and win on a consistent basis. 13) Spiller was awful today. He can't see a hole. He dances and gains 2, if that. 14) Thank you Jerry Hughes for giving it your all on every play!!!!! Seriously, you go!!! 15) There is nothing that grabs me more than when the Bills fight back. Not one f*&^%$g thing. It makes them better people, better players, and it is what WE deserve as fans. 16) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 17) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst Bills player. Top 3 listed. Please vote
Bill from NYC replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely! In a similar thread, one poster commented that watching Jerman he was afraid that someone might get killed out there. I literally felt this as well. A good play for this poor guy was getting shoved to the ground. On bad plays, he was pancaked, trampled, and the qb was demolished. I miss Lori posting here. Once I asked her if I was seeing things or was this really happening with Jerman. Needless to say, she affirmed that the above was really happening. -

Article- Reality Check: Is EJ Manuel a Bust?
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yolo, it was your post, no? Have I ever mocked or belittled you? Not sure why you would even suspect this. Others have covered my views of this article. It seems to be more fantasy based and omits several key factors. Surrounding talent on BOTH sides of the ball is one of them. In any event, thanks for the article. Bills discussion is why I am here. -
Article- Reality Check: Is EJ Manuel a Bust?
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I changed my mind. EJ doesn't wait too long to run, leads his receivers, and doesn't miss throws by a city block. He is great. -
CB, not trying to pile on here but there is nothing that EJ is good at. He won't run until it's too late. He throws uncatchable incompletions. When he manages to complete a pass, he doesn't lead his receivers and throws behind them more often than not. When his receivers are wide open they have to wait for the football. Listen, EJ is awful. Yes, simply awful. Now, will Orton last the season behind our guards? I hope so but it's a reach to say the least. What will probably happen is that EJ will get back in and continue to suck. That said....... GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am surprised that this thread didn't get more attention. Do you think that Mularkey would have made a move like this without consulting Donahoe? Marrone isn't exactly my favorite coach of all time but he really does have a redeeming factor or 2. And I DO believe the report from a month or so ago where he was alleged to have told Whaley, "if you want, fire me," or words to that effect. He needs to retain control of the team and keep the players believing that they have a chance to win. I respect this move and btw thanks for posting this.

He also could have ran out of trouble but he did not. He absolutely sucked. It was as disgraceful a performance that one could visualize. The defense was great under these circumstances to keep the football team in the game. EJ needs to get the hell off the football field so a quarterback can give this football team a chance to win.

1) Was it me, or did McKelvin call a fair catch on a couple of punts that it looked like he could have returned? 2) Please excuse me, I am going to be less delicate and more scathing today. 3) Carpenter's successful field goal was probably a contributing factor to the blood pressure of the average Bills Fan. I actually thought that he missed it. 4) Let's see....we are near midfield with 30 something seconds before the half, and no timeouts. Do you spike the ball and set up a few plays? No? OK, let's line up and throw an inbounds 3 yard pass. Marrone and Hackett are not up to the task. They are sub-par coaches who are WAY over their heads. So is Brandon who hired these Syracuse cronies. Hopefully, they will all be fired, and they can take Whaley with them. 5) EJ completed 21 passes today. My contention is that most of his completions even sucked. He was not leading his receivers and was throwing late. The TD pass to Sammy should have been an easy play. It wasn't. Much more to come on EJ. 6)Broken heart don't feel so bad, Ain't got half a what you thought you had. Rock your baby to and fro, Not too fast and not too slow. And I say row, Jimmy, row Gonna get there? I don't know. Seems a common, way to go Get down, row, row, row, row, row. 7) Manuel had many opportunities to run. It looked to me as if he didn't have the balls to do so. 8) Kyle Williams was clearly double covered when he blocked that pass in the 3rd qtr. He is as fundamentally sound as any player we will see. I hope his knee is OK, and the same applies to Bradham, who looks very good. 9) The interception by McKelvin was so off the charts great that its hard to describe. It was the best play of his career, and I have a hard time picturing him ever making a better play. That was a great play for Deion Sanders or Mel Blount. He not only muscled the ball from the receiver, but he went up a mile high. What a freaking play!!!!! 10) If Marrone has a hair on his ass he would bench EJ vs. the Lions. Orton may not be that good, but he is a professional quarterback. And I am guessing that if Orton makes a good play, he won't feel the need to stare up into the screen. That said, Marrone probably will not do this. He and Whaley are clinging to their last shred of hope. It's sickening. 11) Once again, my man Searcy is making pays. The truth is that even Gilmore didn't hurt us today. 12) What did you people think about the Bills time management in the first half? Does this look like a professional coaching staff? I am going to call it disgraceful. 13) Yeah, this game was on EJ. He was no better than Thad Lewis today or even Tuel. I am calling for him to be immediately benched. If you disagree, please tell me how much time you care to give him, ok? 14) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I normally resist the temptation to cite the importance of individual games. They all seem to be just SO important, but this one sticks out imo so I want to address it..... 1) Houston can be beat, and it would be an important road win in a conference game. 2) Win or lose, it will be a tall order for this inexperienced coaching staff to win next week on the road for the 2nd week, in a dome, against a very talented Lions team. Not impossible mind you, but a VERY tough task. 3) EJ will be tested because of Watt, who is tearing up the league. Every EJ scenario exists: a) He could step up and take over the game. b) He could suck. c) He could get hurt and Orton could win (or lose). d) Anything else. 4) 3-1 is a beautiful thing. Yes, we have been down the road of good starts before only to see to see them go sour. That said, 3-1 is still a nice situation. 5) A win, coupled with a loss from ANY of our divisional opponents (let alone more than 1) would be HUGE. And this division isn't looking all that great, ya know? So there it is. On Sunday I will be happier than the norm if we win and more disappointed if we lose. I truly do want this game big time! Bills Fans probably need this game more than the team does. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes but this is a two way street. Most fans (and I don't blame them) HATE to come to terms with the fact that a top 10 pick was a bad selection. This is because it's facing a situation that really does suck. Look, I did this. For WAY too long. I thought that Rob Johnson was going to be a great qb. I looked at his skill set and thought that he would excellent. I learned my lesson. The Bills have a nice pass rush and their front 7 is built for the run as well. Am I out of line for expecting a #10 (Gilmore) and a #11 (Mckelvin) to make plays? These are precious resources. People defended Whitner for years. Some still do. The thing is, he was a #8. He cost the Bills well over 30 (36?) million real dollars and a true cap hit. We could have drafted Ngata. We skipped on Branden Albert and Clady to draft McKelvin. We took Spiller at #8. Last week I was singing his praises for taking over a game. I will do it again if he performs, but he was a bad draft selection. Watkins, who looked GREAT in week 2, cost us a #9 AND next years first. His qb is EJ Manuel. Do you like this scenario? My point? Fans have the right to expect production from our best resources. And again, folks don't love to come to grips with the fact that many of our best resources were flushed down the toilet.

Agree, and that is a great description. On many of the crucial passes that he does give up, he isn't always flat out destroyed. He is beat by JUST enough for the offensive play to work. The problem is that things like this lose football games. I think that aside from the qb position, the Bills have a better than average roster. It's confusing at times mind you, but there is a lot of talent. That said, with us being shaky at QB, the positional players have to step up more. How are we doing in terms of TOP this season? Not that great? A few plays by Gilmore really could even this out and be a tremendous help to this football team. Better guard play would kick ass but I digress. This Sunday is a big test, no? If Gilmore is any good, one would think that this is a game in which he could surely step up. Let's hope!
-
Bandit, I trust that by now that you know that I value our dialogue. That said, I must strongly disagree with you. You probably know more about corners than me but when I evaluate them, I don't go by pure stats. I look at the passes that they gave up. Were they TDs? Were they key first downs? Gilmore gives up plays like this consistently. As far as Gilmore on running plays yesterday, he was flat out disgraceful and this is not hyperbole. I didn't love the Spiller selection either, but he took over the Miami game, and I was here singing his praises. Imo you don't THINK you are doing it, but it seem as if you really are part of the Gilmore excuse machine. He was a # freaking 10 selection in an NFL Draft. It's time for him to take over a game and win one for us, let alone not stink up the field. Be well and GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't agree more, and wish that Levitre was still on this football team. That said, Spiller is what he is. He's a very fast runner with very small strides. He has great moves but cannot see holes at times, and this is what stops him from being great. I cannot understand why they keep using him up the middle for gains of 2, yet they do it constantly. Btw, imo if they activate Bryce Brown, we are going to be happy but hey.....I could be wrong.
