How do you feel right now if you are Sammy Watkins?
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing is Yolo, Urbik, Williams and Spiller are not very good players. Woods and Sammy did well with bargain basement qbs. Assuming we get someone else in, it will get better. Seriously, how much worse can it get than Manuel and Orton? -
No, nor did I comment about it Promo. And thanks for the info. It makes Brandon look even more idiotic. I liken Brandon to a barker at a circus or carnival. The Pegulas paid 1.4 bil. to own this team. Certainly they can do better than this. That said, I am not trying to convince you to dislike what Brandon has done to this football team. Moreover, I enjoy your posts. If we agreed on everything this board would suck, rather than be the best place on the web to discuss the Buffalo Bills Football Team with those who have an informed, sincere opinion.

First of all, thank you very much. The thing that strikes me about Cutler is that he was on a team with (imo) a Gailey type head coach. More of an intellectual than a head coach. And, his best receiver is a self professed sufferer of Borderline Personality Disorder. NOT GOOD. And the TE is crazy too. You know, we did make the trade for Watkins. It's a done deal. Imo, Cutler could hit him with 70 yard fly patterns but who really knows?

Some of my comments will be repetitive in terms of my opinions over the years. If this bothers anyone, do feel free to ignore. In any event..... 1) Did you see the difference today between Luck and Dalton? It was clearly monumental. That said, Dalton is WAY better than Orton. Imo not even in the same league. This says a lot in terms of the Bills. Orton and EJ suck. Period. Yet, the team went 9-7. 2) Brandon needs to be fired. He is to be held responsible for hiring a sub-par coach to a contract which will cost the Pegulas 4 million or so. I saw a stat today.....The Bills were LAST in terms of scoring points inside the 2 minute warning before the half. I talked about this with BADOLBEELZ during the season. There is no excuse for this. Marrone is nothing but a Brandon crony. He is mediocre at best and I am glad to see him gone. "Obviously." 3) This will piss people off, but Fred Jackson, however loveable, is probably done. It hurts to say this but it's true. TJ Yeldon is a young Fred Jackson. They even look alike in terms of size, moves, and ability to catch and block. And he is 2 steps faster. I HATE wasting picks on running backs, but I have seen every game Yeldon has played. He would be a HUGE asset to the Buffalo Bills Football Team. 4) Whaley, imo, gets his ass kissed on this board. I am not a Whaley hater, but I am not as in love with the guy as are many here. It truly pisses me off that we don't have a first round pick this year. I think the trade to take Watkins was ill advised. That said, Watkins is great imo, so I am unsure about how to judge Mr. Whaley. Bottom line is that we have a potentially great wide receiver with no QB. I think that this makes little sense but it CAN work I suppose. 5) John C, take note. Gilmore, at the end of the season, looked good. I am NOT, nor ever will be about top ten picks being used on corners, but imo Gilmore came a long way. 6) The Bills need to offer Hughes 50 million for 5 years and see what he says. He isn't a great player, but he is talented and imo smart. And of course he provides pass rush. 7) Keep Searcy!!!!! 8) John C, take note again.....CJ Spiller sucks. Against the Raiders, he missed two blocks on one play. He is virtually worthless. It's time to cut the chord my friend. He is an nexpensive bag of S%&t. 9) Rex Ryan went to the playoffs with a qb who sucks. On the worst day of his nlife he was a better coach than Marrone. I would be more than OK with Rex. 10 We desperately need guards. If Levitre really does get cut and is healthy, we should absolutely sign him. He was our best guard since Ruben Brown and I suspect that he has been playing hurt. We also need to draft one, perhaps 2. 11) If all you got to live for, is what you left behind, get yourself a powder charge and seal that silver mine. I lost my boots in transit babe, A pile of smoking leather. Nailed a retread to my feet and prayed for better weather. 12) QB? I would take Cutler (at the right cost) and/or Mallett, AND a draft pick. 13) God bless you all, and GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knee jerk reaction to who will be bills new HC
Bill from NYC replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Badol, Saban will always be on the top of my list. In fact, on Tuesday the feature sports article of the NY Post was a call for the Jets to sign Saban, give him full control and all the money he wants. Rex would be my next choice, then Malzahn. -
Anyone else sick of Eric Wood?
Bill from NYC replied to GrizzlyAdams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have you seen Leon Brown? He was a Junior College transfer in 2013 and played OT. Now he line up at RG for the Tide, and although a senior, this was his first year as a starter. Early in the season, he had some very untimely penalties (most of them for motion) and it drove Saban nuts to the point that he pulled him a couple of times. Now, he is a complete beast but he is certainly more of a mauler than a finesse blocker. Brown and Austin Sheppard could conceivably fall into later rounds. -

Badol, wrt Richardson, I will always be a tad suspicious of HUGE blockers coming out of college. Mike Williams (chronic ankle injury and all) was drafted so early because he was able to beat the crap out of his college opponents. He was twice as strong as them but it doesn't work this way in the NFL. Richardson probably enjoyed some of this. Kuondjio was simply a bad pick. I was shocked by that selection. He was hurt and not especially good. Btw please tell me.....is Cam Robinson already the best LT in the NCAA? From where I sit the kid looks literally great. -
>>>>>I have no complaints on Watkins. No offensive line. No running game. No QB. Worst offensive coordinator in football (or bottom 3) and still had a stellar season. If you don't like what you saw from Watkins, you need a new TV.<<<<< I hated the trade. Despised it, but there Is zero doubt that the kid is great and will get better if he stays healthy. But what do we do at qb? Cutler? Mallett? Got any ideas?

Player you missed on in latest draft
Bill from NYC replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
>>>>>either you are talking about Kouandjio, or I'm the only one that missed on him<<<<< As a life long Tide Fan, I wasn't high on Kujo and warned people on this board. He was the 4th best blocker on that Bama OL. And, it was known that he was/is hurt. Too bad because he is a great kid by all accounts. Btw, I have mixed emotions wrt his brother at LG. Sorry to stray off topic, but Austin Sheppard is an interesting OL prospect. He plays RT and might be able to play OG a well. I do want to see his numbers with 225 on the bench, but as a RT he might last a while in the draft. -

Crazy Fred Jackson Statistic
Bill from NYC replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW, I view TJ Yeldon as the next Fred Jackson. -
Thanks and I would like to extend fond Christmas wishes to all of you folks and your loved ones. I also ask that we pray for the families, co-workers, and souls of the police officers who were executed.

Marrone & Hackett ruined Spiller as a Bill.
Bill from NYC replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tipster my friend, here is my vote: I can't say that want to sign him, nor can I say that I don't care if he leaves. Place me I the camp who cannot wait until he is cut and takes his expensive, counter productive ass out of Buffalo. Say what you will about Bryce Brown, but my guess is that he could have picked up more than -4 yds. on the ground against the Raiders. Call me crazy....... -
The above is quite presumptuous imo. Brandon had the power, and Marrone was a Syracuse crony who he even allowed to bring in his staff. I too will make a presumption: I am guessing that Marrone and Hackett are two of the lowest paid persons at their respective jobs. Ask yourself this if you will.....if the Bills don't make the playoffs and fire Marrone, how many teams do you think will be clamoring around to sign him as a head coach? Marrone might be a good head coach some day. I am NOT saying that this cannot happen. There ARE things that I like about him. But to say that hiring a cheap, inexperienced head coach with a so-so resume was some sort of monumental achievement is a mischaracterization of sorts. Jmo.

Conflict Between Bills' Front Office and Marrone?
Bill from NYC replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both comments are 100% on the money my friend. Marrone was a Brandon crony from Syracuse. I said this from day 1. As far as big egos, right again. Nick Saban has earned the right to be pompous, no? Let me add one thing.....Brandon, Whaley and Marrone did little this season besides try to hang onto their jobs. I think that Watkins will be great, but he was drafted while the team was in the hands of a qb that is just so bad that the players and fans were crying out for Orton. Whaley gave up a #1 in 2015 in this situation and is therefore not to be excused either imo. -
Let me start by saying that a win on Sunday, imo, would be a monumental game in Bills history. Here is why: 1) A win on the road against Peyton Manning would be a major accomplishment for ANY team in the NFL. 2) If we can do this, the team and the fans would view beating the Packers at home as a distinct possibility. This includes pessimistic me. 3) It would make money for the new owner. The Green Bay game would sell out. 4) Our playoff hopes would be completely alive. Bottom line? I am really looking forward to this football game. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best defense in franchise history?
Bill from NYC replied to finn's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Better than the year when Bryce Paup was the NFL Defensive MVP? Are you sure? Good point! -
My friend, if you want to lose football games a good way to do so is to draft a situational scat back with a top 10 draft pick, especially if you have QB issues. And those were pre-Pettine and Mario days. Mr. Wilson praised this selection. He said that the team needed, "excitement." This team didn't win football games with Spiller. We are still not in the playoffs as we speak, but we are doing just as well without him. And btw, let me readily admit that the Bills need an upgrade at RB. I do however hope that we don't draft one too early and focus more on Guards to fill the void of the ones we stupidly let go.

CJ Spillers return - Bills working on it?
Bill from NYC replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he picks up his player option and he is cut, is this a cap hit for the Bills? -
John, you have nowhere to go wrt Spiller. And btw, I think that the combo of Robey and Searcy have won us as many football games as Spiller and Whitner (top 10 picks) or more. Our front 4 is what might get us to or even over .500 this year, coupled with somewhat respectable qb play. This of course is strictly my opinion, and it is always great to hear from you.
