  1. Thanks so much. I expect a lot of fun from Tyrod. This is stuff we just are not used to. I know it was preseason but that 21 yard TD was flat out spectacular. This kid looks as if he can see any crease. And if they want to gang up on the LOS, Sammy says hi.
  2. I don't make decisions on matters such as these and never have. I have no issues with other posters doing and saying whatever they please. Again, SDS and the mods do the work. I consider myself lucky to post here and have no say in how they combine threads, etc. True but I was liking the defense as the season went on. The front 4 stepped up and produced great results. And btw, Schwartz did keep some of the schemes that Pettine left behind. I loved it when Robey and/or Searcy blitzed. I fear that we might miss Searcy.
  3. I find that a good portion of our differences tend to be rooted in semantics more than actual football issues. So, I disagree about the ways we disagree.
  4. I am impressed. He isn't very tall but he looks and plays bigger than the 303 lbs. he is listed at. This is important because the RG should be a mauler imo and is important to the running game. I am thinking/hoping that Glenn is going to have a much better year due to last year's illness, Incog, and his contract. In essence, a good/great season from Glenn could bring him 30 million or more in guaranteed money, easily. That said, they need to be able to run right as well. Miller looks tough and seems to have that nasty edge. I am going to pay a lot of attention to that kid and expect good things, rookie or not.
  5. Actually, I only quote Hunter lyrics, and I try to tie them into the game in some way. Believe it or not it takes some effort. Yeah, I have issues lol.
  6. Believe it or not, I for one prefer the offseason to the regular season on TBD. I love the pre-draft posts and evaluations from our resident experts. This year was of course different with no first round pick. The QB controversy ran the table if you will. Anyway, here goes.... 1) Thanks to the mods for doing the work. 2) Thanks SOOOO much to all for the dialogue. We wouldn't be posting here unless we were just a bit over the top about this football team. I mean really. 3) Special thanks to those who disagree with me because I treasure the dialogue. I don't even mind personal insults. You are doing me a favor to indulge me in talking about a team that means so much to me, and I truly do appreciate this. 4) Posters on this board amaze me at times. Two posters were very recently having a disagreement in several threads. Another poster (can't remember who) said that they "crashed through the walls" of another thread. Maybe my sense of humor is off, but I thought this was very funny and quite articulate! 5) Tyrod Taylor was my choice at QB. I think that he will earn his small salary and more in two point conversions alone. This kid can freaking run!!! It is hard to picture other teams stopping him when Rex chooses to go for the deuce. His potential to be good is glaring. GO TT!!!!! 6) I am a huge fan of Fred, but I am a bigger fan of the Buffalo Bills. I was OK with the cut. 7) It is SOOO great that posters such as Simon, The Dean, #BADOL, and others are back. As far as Badol.....ok, he can be a bit brusque at times but read his posts. The guy studies and lives this stuff. Then, have a beer with him at Hammer's Lot. He is nothing short of a total gentleman. 8) I hope that Cassell stays. As much as I like TT, the possibility exists that he could bust out. We might really need the veteran presence. Sorry, but I have little faith in EJ. That said, if he gets in and does well, I will be THE first to praise him. 9) Believe it or not, I was OK with drafting Darby. Not by much mind you but we did need a corner. 10) Trust me, each and every season, posters by the dozens call the opening game a "must win." I freaking hate to, but I am going to join the club this season. We truly need this game. The good news? I'm looking at 34-13 Bills!!!!!!!!!!!! 11) Thanks once again SDS for providing fanatics like us for a forum to talk about this football team. Long term friendships have resulted from your work. You rock! 12) God bless you all. 13) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I know that he ain't talking about me.
  8. Maybe he was an idiotic draft pick if you consider that the team who drafted AFTER us picked up an extra mid 1st round pick in the following year by trading down. Nah.....blame the fans.
  9. A bit of a reach? He did look improved but incredible mettle and leadership? His TD pass to Clay was nice, but the man was 15 yards away from a defender. A play like this in a preseason game is good, but I don't view it as concrete evidence that EJ has completely turned his game around. Is that what you think? Has he found is stride? If so perhaps he should start, no?
  10. I agree 100% and compliment you on this post. The problem with investing top resources in the secondary (early draft picks and huge contracts) is that teams play 4 and 5 wide offenses due to the rule changes. A corner, the very BEST corner, can only cover 1 receiver at a time. And corners are starting to get paid like left tackles which is crazy. Many teams (unlike the Bills) have tons of money tied up at the QB position. I can fully relate to this. Pass rushing DEs cost a fortune too and they are worth it. Left Tackles are also very hard to find. If nothing else, the Bills have proven that the devotion of an NFL team's best resources to the secondary is a one way ticket to losing and futility. Once again, great post!
  11. I for one do not, but I certainly respect your opinion. I'll tell ya my friend, I cannot wait to see more runs like the 21 yd. td vs. the Steelers. I always wanted to see EJ do this, but Tyrod really can motor down the field!
  12. That sounds about right, providing of course that EJ remains on the team.
  13. If EJ had first round value he would be starting and there would not have been any debate. I suppose anything is possible but I doubt if we could get a 3rd round pick for him. That said, if they ARE offered a 3rd (or of course higher), my guess is that they will take it and make the trade, and this is nothing but an opinion in a football discussion. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. And it leads me to believe what I have always suspected from day 1: Marrone was a Brandon crony. Brandon brought in his Syracuse buddies and HE is to blame, not Whaley or Nix.
  15. Seriously? Remember, they traded DOWN when they drafted him and knew that he was a raw project. As far as his play, it's very nice to see him improve. However, Gil Brandt said that going from Preseason to regular season is equivalent to going from Kindergarten to MIT Grad School. But I understand how those who want EJ to start seem to feel. I support Taylor but I too have nothing but preseason to base my opinion on. I want him to start because I truly believe that he runs SO well that he can take over some games and win them for us. Let's just hope that the right decision is made no matter who is selected.
  16. I took my daughter away to college. She graduated in 2006 and I am still not over the trauma. Tell him how easy it is to get into trouble these days. When you go pick him up, bring him out to eat and tell him to bring a friend or 2. It costs money but at least you can check out who he is hanging out with. You will be counting the minutes between holiday breaks, etc. Make the most of all of them. Keep praying and encourage him to do the same. It's rough but you'll be alright Bro.
  17. First of all, welcome back! It's fantastic to see you posting. Hate to do so, but I must already respectfully disagree. I do so because I see very.....very little chance of EJ improving to a superbowl level qb. Check it out: >>>>>For the first time in ages we actually have a high character, blue chip athlete with a big arm and a world-class work ethic sitting right in our laps. He’s played less than a season’s worth of NFL football under an asshat of a coach and behind an atrocious OLine<<<<< You and I were saying the same as above about Rob Johnson, who had as many or more skills than does EJ. I just don't think this kid can get the job done. IMO he would have a slight chance if he would run the way he did in college but when he runs now he looks (again, imo), clumsy and lumbering. And as others have said, 5-7 years is a century in the NFL. Injuries, free agency losses, bad drafts and other factors can wipe out a team overnight. Look at the 49ers. In any event, it's all good. Once again I am completely thrilled to see you back!!!!!
  18. I am. IF the qb position doesn't kill us again, this team can win games and one of these days Brady is going to hit the wall. When qbs lose it, it happens in the bat of an eyelash.
  19. Doc, that was a GREAT draft by Butler. Seriously, they got Ruben Brown in round 1, and a host of other good players. Kerner and Irvin were good players that they didn't have to waste top picks on. Covington and Holocek were very good linebackers as well. For a while the Bills were absolutely stacked with very talented lbs, then they all seemed to get hurt at once. To this day I think that Kerner would have been a very good corner. Darrick Holmes at #244 was nice was well. It was actually funny watching him run. He looked like a buzz saw. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/bills
  20. 1) I qualified my statement. 2) Don't keep us on pins and needles.....who are you referring to in the last paragraph?
  21. Overrated: Gilmore by far. People compare him to Revis. Might as well call him better than Mel Blount. The thing is, he does have the potential to be great. He just isn't there yet. Underrated: Mario Williams. Sounds crazy I know, but he gets far less fanfare than he merits. The man is a freak of nature and he takes care of himself. Schobel was underrated too. It's tough to play DE on the Bills after Bruce Smith, who was one of the top 4 of all time.
  22. Well, I am proud to say that I was NOT one of those that you mention above. Trust me. But it IS worthy to note that Whaley seemed to be trying VERY hard to keep Byrd. Do you recall this? I think that Whaley got lucky wrt Byrd. Maybe I'm wrong.
