People look at this circus and have a right to be upset. Rex was the one who promised a "bully," right? And really, I don't care so much about what these guys say. I did however have to watch a great defense crumble, and now they hired yet another buffoon to rub salt in a rather deep wound. Sure, the OP is pissed at how Rex hurt this team. I fail to see how this could anger, let alone surprise anyone.

He believes in Manuel? That's great. He should get together with posters here who tell us how good Rex Ryan is. They could hold seminars that include speeches by the Tooth Fairy.

John, you surprise me with the above. The point of the article(and I suppose this thread) is that Rex is guaranteed another 22 million dollars or so no matter what happens. Not only that, he got his brother (who I doubt anyone else would hire) a job for who knows how many years. Rex came to town and shot off his big mouth. Then he proceeded to screw up a very good defense. Now he is hanging on the beach. Despite this, he still even has a fanbase (however small) on this board. I am NOT saying that Rex doesn't care. I do however agree with the implication that he MIGHT not. No matter what happens he will be very rich, and running his mouth. Who's better than him?

Yes but it is a very slow moving boat. EJ lost us numerous games and it has been obvious to many that he cannot play. It would be great to trade him and let his salary count towards someone else's salary cap. I would rather they draft a kid with a better chance of being good. As far as drafting a qb every year, I am all for it. McCarron was a late 5th round pick. Even if this seems like hindsight, I would rather miss on a 5th round qb than with Cyril Richardson. When the DO draft blockers, this historically is a disaster. You don't need to tell me about Cyrus. I'm a huge Crimson Tide Fan and saw all of his games in college. I was on this board saying that he was the 4th or 5th best starter on that line, and a bad pick. He also has btw a chronic injury. Henderson started out good and fizzled which is about what one would expect from a 7th round pick. Guards? The last good guard they drafted was Andy Levitre. I know that he didn't play well when he left. Many here point to this as genius by Bills management. I am of the opinion that it is due to injury. When he was in Buffalo he was excellent and we let him walk. I'm with you wrt Miller. He too started out good but he's a bit small imo and was outplayed by Urbik. As far as Glenn, if he goes he will probably have to be replaced by a first round draft choice, or close to it. As you probably know, LTs don't last in the draft. Losing him would create yet another huge hole. The Bills tend to use their early draft choices on defensive backs and running backs. But, they can always see if they can talk Greg Jerman out of retirement!

One of the primary reasons, (imo the biggest reason other than quarterback) that the Bills have sucked and don't make the playoffs is the historic utter neglect of the OL. And when they DID decide to sign blockers, they usually wound up with bad players such as Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery. I could name countless others. Jonas Jennings was pretty good; Jason Peters was great. We know the rest of those stories. Remember the draft when we skipped over the likes of Ryan Clady and Brandon Albert? We drafted Leotis McKelvin instead. Ya think if we would have drafted either one of these guys we would have won just a few more games? Made the playoffs once? Hopefully he is just trying to talk him up just in case a team out there would be willing to cough up a 6th or 7th round pick. I strongly doubt if Whaley actually believes EJ is any good, but I guess you never know. Yep. I also think that a Chevy Vega is a better vehicle than a Ford Maverick.

I am the first to admit that I have been wrong about quite a few quarterbacks. That said, I like Dak Prescott. He probably will not develop right away, but he is big, fast, can take hits, and has a good arm. Just my $.02.

Could be Dave. But he isn't getting younger, and that was a serious pounding he took. It will be interesting to see how he holds up next season, especially if he gets his ass kicked a few more times.

Dumb question, but do you think that the Bronco game was an omen of Brady on the way down? I ask this because I for one do. Badol, Brady is in what appears to be great shape, but he got his ass handed to him in that game and obviously he is not young. Those hits by the DTs were crushing, and he was limping after the game. If he has 1 or more games like that next year I really doubt if he will finish the season. Jmo.

Kyle, a player I admire, is too short to add that much weight and be able to play NFL football, let alone walk. He is also (imo), WAY too short to play DE. And sadly, KW is not getting any younger. It is an unpopular stance to take here, but I think that there is no place for KW in the Ryan system. Kyle plays well as a penetrating, disruptive DT. If he wants to make the team in 2016, perhaps he can work out with Watkins in the offseason, improving his pass coverage.

This thread quite frankly is bizarre. Our defense had 60% less sacks. Our defensive linemen were dancing around like a boy band. We made so-so quarterbacks look great. We finished 8-8 with a much better offense that even included a quarterback, and people are defending Rex? Believe me, I blame Whaley too. He gave Dareus more than 100 mil to jump up and down and cover receivers, let alone his other mistakes. Now, we brought in another unqualified clown to screw the defense up even more and it really is sad. A strong/competent person in charge just would not allow this circus act, and it WILL backfire. It almost reminds me of the old Levy/Jauron days, when Ralph would hire unqualified people that nobody else wanted. Sad indeed.

Brady got his ass kicked up and down the field. He is going to be in a huge amount of pain for some time. If Rex was watching the game he must have been confused, because the defensive tackles were not covering wide receivers. Big time congrats to Wade, a class act indeed.

Since 2010, here are some stats: First Round Defensive Backs (both corner and safety) - 36 Top 10 draft picks Defensive Backs - 8 First Round Offensive Linemen ( all 3 positions) First Round Offensive Linemen - 39 Top 10 draft picks Offensive Linemen - 13 The earliest drafted DBs (2) both went at #5 (2010 & 2011) There were 6 Offensive Linemen drafted in the top 5. It is still harder to find top quality blockers than defensive backs imo. I think that Darby goes a long way to prove this. There are just not many 325 humans who run 5 second 40s, are agile, and bench 225 30 or so times. As for Gilmore, I think the debate is really about salary. If it was my money, I would not pay him 13 - 15 million per season. I just wouldn't do it. Btw, I do agree with you that since the rule changes, corners are becoming more important. Very good post! I also think that since the rule changes, the RT position grew in importance. The LT will always require a bit more agility because it IS the blind side, but I completely agree that an NFL team cannot afford to put someone there who is strong but cannot move.

I agree. Mr. Pegula would have to pay Rex approx. 21 million over 4 years if he fires him. Is this about right? If so, he did not become a billionaire by giving away this kind of cash. Now in 2015, Rex actually made him money imo. Remember all the blow hard interviews about being a "bully"? Many fans (including me) bought into this hype. PT Brandon must have been loving this. If Rex is a failure in 2016 (sadly, a likely scenario) it might stop making economic sense to keep him employed, whereas he might turn off and even repel a portion of the fanbase. I hope Rex can turn the defense around but it's hard to imagine. He screwed up a very talented unit.
