Thurman was also a fantastic pass blocker.

1) It looks to me as if Dareus took the money and simply stopped trying. If he applied any pass rush at all today I must have missed it. And let's stop kidding ourselves, OK? He is no longer anything that special against the run. 2) I am not going to blast Roman as much as the inadequate coaches on defense, but those wildcat plays to EJ simply must stop. The first one was funny. The second wasn't. 3) Jerry Hughes has a lot of heart, and he's a very good player. 4) I used to think that Miller had a chance to be a good guard. Sadly, those days are gone. He is clueless and light in the ass. No way is he as good as Urbik. Mills? We can pretend he is ok, but today he looked as if he has no business on an NFL roster. 5) I hate to say this, but I will. The Bills were not a worse running team when Shady got hurt. Karlos can play football folks. Sorry. 6) The bottles stand as empty, as they were filled before. Time there was and plenty, but from that cup no more. Though I could not caution all, I yet may warn a few: Don't lend your hand to raise no flag, atop no ship of fools. 7) Because of Rex Ryan, the Bills are probably the worst team in the NFL right now, and I could live with this. It's not like this is unfamiliar footing if you will. But we are losing because the coach insists on stupidity and does not bring any discipline or accountability. I wish he didn't have 4 years left because if it was up to me, I would have fired him at halftime. 8) Hughes, the only member of our defensive line who provides any pass rush, spent much of the 1st half in unsuccessful pass coverage. Just a complete waste. 9) Watkins makes it look easy in the end zone, doesn't he? 10) You know, Tyrod had 79 rushing yards on 9 carries which is great imo. Much of this yardage was on scrambles. I wish Roman would call more designed running plays. Speaking of Tyrod, I am liking him more and more. Tyrod isn't a quitter. He is a good young quarterback who continues to improve and doesn't make many mistakes. 11) I give up. What happened on that 1st quarter punt? 12) The teams we are losing to are so-so at best. We make them look like superstars, especially opposing quarterbacks. 13) McKelvin surprised me today. I didn't think that he could play so poorly. 14) There was actually a glimmer of hope at the very end of the 3rd quarter. We had them at 3rd and 16. We used a 3 man rush and Cousins, with all week to throw, completed a pass with ease. I never, ever thought we were this kind of weak, non-aggressive team. 15) In case I don't get around to it later this week, allow me to wish every one of you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas filled with joy. This forum is great and has been for years. 16) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft
Bill from NYC replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is going to have a chance to prove himself on New Years Eve. Let's see how he holds up against the Crimson Tide. -
Yankees countless times when I was a kid and cared about baseball. The University of Alabama Crimson Tide has brought me decades of championships and happiness, and by the way there is room on the bandwagon for new converts. I promise you years of joy if you join us. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dareus: Bills Jumped the Gun on the Rex Ryan Hype
Bill from NYC replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pooj, why was the switch from Pettine to Schwartz so painless? What is so different wrt Ryan? Here is my explanation: 1) Rex has no control over this team. 2) Rex wants 100 million dollar pass rushers to be defensive backs in a non-aggressive defense. It really is a sickening sight to behold imo. -
Who Still Likes the Rex Hire
Bill from NYC replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I respectfully disagree. McCoy need to earn his millions of dollars. He needs to rest his narcissistic mouth, not his legs. -
Safety? Our biggest need? Bills Fans are SO used to losing that some posters (not saying you) would actually condone making the same mistakes over and over. How about this years version of Donte Whitner? Unbelievable. Btw if you covet linebackers, Alabama has not one but two who are fantastic players, Reggie Ragland and Ruben Foster. Anything can happen wrt draft picks, but both of them might be better than anybody on our roster right now. The above hit is against one of the best running backs in college. Seriously, Fournette is that good. Foster destroys him and Ragland is rated higher than him. Tape the game on New Years Eve and then let's talk if you are thinking linebacker!

No, he is awful, but he had a decent first half vs. the Eagles. -
Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft
Bill from NYC replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a fool. He just threw away millions of dollars and who knows what else? Btw have you ever seen him play? He was one of the best college DTs I have ever seen. -
Ya think? The Bills handed the Eagles points just before the half by NOT pressuring Bradford at all. My friend, first you say it's all about the players. Now you want Pettine back. Which one is it? Btw, I agree with you in part. I am not seeing great effort from Mario and Marcel. BUT, they would have better numbers if they played in a defense that let them attack. This much seems to be beyond dispute.
-
I looked up and found this play on NFL.com and saw what you were talking about. It was just as disgusting as you described. Dareus actually left his feet, spun his body, and landed NOT facing the quarterback instead of driving towards him. Thanks. Now I am even more sickened by this game. Ryan has made this defense a sad, sick joke. I would like to see them bring back Pettine.

I do, but the Bills players have nobody to answer to. They are THE most penalized team right? They must not care what Rex thinks. It would be hard under any conditions watching Rex destroy the team. The fact that we had to listen to his grandiose claims how he was going to make us a "bully" that other teams would not want to play makes him that much harder to bear. Imo Rex Ryan is a Jauron type loser except he has a big mouth. At least with Jauron we could lose in peace.

1) Well it's official. Rex Ryan has destroyed this talented football team. 2) I know he gave up a long TD pass, but Corey Graham is a very good player, who makes plays all over the field. And btw, on the TD he did give up Bradford had all month to throw. 3) After the 47 yard TD pass to Watkins, EJ was sitting right next to Tyrod on the bench. He was smiling and encouraging. I have been critical of EJ as a quarterback but he sure seems like a good kid. 4) I'm not sure why Miller was on the field today. Do they really think he is better than Urbik? I for one do not. 5) Since the day he was signed, Mario Williams has been my favorite player on the Bills. And his sack today was great. The problem is that before the sack, he was a complete non factor. I don't know if it's because of the idiotic scheme, injuries, lack of effort, or whatever. I can't tell you but it is painful to watch. An btw Dareus was no prize either. 6) Last week, a very observant poster noted that Woods seems to be constantly falling down, at times for no reason. Well on his first catch in the 1st quarter, it looked as if he had room to run, and down he went. 7) Going where the wind don't blow so strange, Maybe on some high cold mountain range. Lost one round but the price wasn't anything, Knife in a back, and more of the same. Same old rat in a drain ditch, Out on a limb, You know better but I know him. 8) You know, Rambo is starting to grow on me in a good way. 9) There is no accountability on this team. 15 penalties? Seriously? Rex has taken this very talented team and made them into a rebuilding project, one that will have cap issues to boot. 10) On the last drive before half time the Bills were rushing 3 men on almost every play. Once, Mario was one of the three and HE TOO dropped into coverage. This team was tops in sacks for the last 2 years. Now Rex has them playing like a bunch of pansy ass losers. I am a Bills Fan. I can handle losing but this is just plain ugly. 11) Cordy Glenn probably played his best game of the season. 12) A taunting penalty by a marginal player such as Meeks? I suppose if your coach doesn't care, go for it. 13) The man just isn't very good, but Manny Lawson did play well in the first half. 14) Tyrod was the most effective runner on the field. A few more carries by him and we would have won this game imo. Considering the protection and all of those penalties, I was satisfied with his performance today. Not thrilled mind you. 15) I really, really hope that Rex will accept a buyout and just get out of here. 16) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How will defensive game plan change without Gilmore?
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Years ago, the only legit pass rusher on the Bills was Aaron Schobel, and he was a good one. Dumbo Jauron used to send him back into coverage and opposing qbs would have absolutely no pressure. Of course, the Bills lost more often than they won. Rex came to town saying this team would be "bullies." Well, he is employing the same passive scheme and the team isn't suited for it. -

McKelvin isn't popular around here and he isn't a great corner, but he is a better than average player in terms of replacing a starter. In fact, MUCH better than average. We can make this move and leave Robey in the slot. I am not overly concerned unless another corner goes down. Right now, Hughes is our only true pass rusher on the front 7. None of us know the deal wrt Mario but right now he is not producing. If Hughes is sent into coverage, this is only further proof that Rex is incompetent. This game is right there for the Bills to win. It is also right there for Rex to lose. -
Whaley pursuing re-signing both Incognito and Glenn
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brandon made a very wise choice when he hired his Syracuse crony Marrone, and his is band of rank amateurs? Really??? This means little at this point imo. Remember, Whaley aggressively tried to re-sign Byrd and Spiller. Many people (not you) act as if Whaley knew enough to kick these guys to the curb, but this isn't the case. -
Great post! Listen, Rex sent in lots of players on blitz packages yesterday. I saw Robey, Rambo, Graham and others rush the qb. This is what Pettine used to do and this was what I thought we were getting from Rex. It was also a crucial part of winning this game. I have no answers for what Rex was doing this season in terms of having a 300 hundred million plus dollar defensive line drop back into coverage. Who knows when he changed from a self proclaimed "bully" to Dick Jauron Jr.? But I fully agree with you. Rex lost us at least 2 games with his passive defensive scheme. Let's hope it isn't too late.

1) It was really cool to see Woods score the TD. The truth is that I stopped even thinking about him as a weapon. 2) Another great game for Sammy! I was particularly fond of the first TD play. The timing and placement were perfect, and Sammy just went up and took it. 3) I guess we can say that Clay redeemed himself for the awful drop in the 4th Quarter. He looked as if he didn't want to take a hit and this completely changed the momentum of the game. He caught the TD on what appeared to be a defensive break down, but I will take it. 4) Btw, on the 3rd down incomplete pass in the opening drive of the second half, Hogan was wide open on the sideline, and could have jogged into the end zone. 5) I just don't understand what was happening with Mario today. I know he had 0 sacks, and I don't think he had one tackle or one assist either. But it was strange.....in the first half, they seemed to be neutralizing him with just one blocker. In the second half he was constantly doubled, yet he was bringing some pressure. I don't get it. 6) Since it cost a lot to win, and even more to lose. You and me bound to spend some time wondering, what to choose. Goes to show, you don't ever know. Watch each card you play and, play it slow. Wait until your deal come round. Don't you let that deal go down, NO!!! 7) It was a tougher play to make than I initially thought, but it would have saved us quite a bit of grief if Darby made that interception on the first drive. 8) I sure am glad that the Bills are still technically alive. We have at least one more week of hope. We deserve this and more!!! 9) Did you hear Wilcotts at the very end of the game? He said (I am paraphrasing)that Rex never met a qb who he didn't want to hit. Before this year I thought the same thing. Imo, this was the most pass rush we had since week one. 10) I like and support Taylor. The kid is good and has a lot of heart. That said, I feel like I am correct in saying that he needs to run to achieve his full potential. Once he ran for the TD and picked up KEY first downs with his legs, the Texans simply had to account for this. 11) Poor Mills lol. Imagine starting a pro career against the best player in football!!! He of course didn't fare well but we didn't miss Henderson all that much, ya know? 12) The 53 yard pass to Sammy went 45 yds. in the air and was perfectly placed, with just the right amount of air under it. It might have been TT's best throw of the season. 13) McCoy did show us some heart today, as well as some great moves. 14) Congrats to the Bills, and to you my friends. 15) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
