I have been a fan of Marcel Dareus since the first time I saw him play at Alabama. That said, I advise you to be cautious in terms of your optimism. First of all, I question his motivation after his 100 million + dollar contract. Next, do you remember Big Sam Adams? Sam LOOKED like a nose tackle but was anything but. Same with Marcel. He is a penetrating lineman. Marcel will never play to his full potential tying up blockers. He is strong enough to push and get through. This is how he got double digit sacks last season and why he got the big bucks. The Mario situation is simply depressing. Sadly, I agree with you wrt Kyle. I deeply appreciate his effort and what he has done for this team, but it is not realistic (imo) to expect him to have a healthy season. And his salary while not bank breaking, is substantial. As for Hughes, the penalties do suck, but he got his money and it's clear that he still cares. He is really the only pass rusher we have under this loser defensive system. As I said in another post, my name for this defense is the "Jauronettes."

Tyrod is the #1 FA pickup of 2015 per ESPN

So the fact that he offered contracts to both Byrd and Spiller means nothing? He tried to sign both of these guys. Pretending it didn't happen is one thing. But pretending these were players that he chose to let go is a bit much, no? -
Priceless!!!!! :) What, no mention of Whitner?

Quite the interesting post. My take as a life long Tide Fan is however different. The team that beat Notre Dame was just freaking loaded. The OL was SO good that the LG and RT were drafted at #10 and #11. Lacey, Yeldon and Amari Cooper were on the team as you know. From the opening kickoff I could watch the game in sheer joy and total relaxation. If the Bills ever get back to a superbowl, give me a game like that. I don't want to be scared, sitting there waiting for them to blow it. I don't want an exciting game. Pretty sad I suppose.

EJ deserves time on the field with first team offense.

Yep. Tyrod was the 3rd leading rushing QB in the league coming into the Redskin game according to the announcers.

If we have the conversation in 2 or 3 years, will we bring up what McCoy did with the Eagles, or just with the Bills? Brother, I am NOT declaring Yeldon, as much as I like the kid, to be a HOF back. I also know that Pegula has cash, but there is still a salary cap. Money that could be used on different players. So, I think it is a fair comparison. Taking the above into account, I think Yeldon for 1 million is a better buy today than Shady for 10 million plus. Jmo, and thanks for the dialogue.

I know you don't post much, but allow me to say that imo, your screen name is in the top 20 of all time. -

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that this kid might be a pretty fair linebacker.. -
Ain't it the truth. I was fairly happy with the Shady trade because Kiko was an injury machine, and light in the ass. The whole contract issue was a bad omen. When I read Badol's take I got a knot in my stomach thinking about things to come. I have, for the most part, stayed out of this. Here is my $.02: I think that Shady is at least 10x better than Spiller. This sounds great and all but the thing is, Spiller is a virtually useless player. Shady often does head straight for the sidelines. He is not the least bit punishing. The rule changes have really made this a passing league, I get this but it is still football. It hurts to go up against a punishing back such as Marshaun Lynch. I know it's "only" college, but Derrick Henry beats the crap out of the strongest kids in America who are trying to hurt him! This results in wins for the Crimson Tide. It's that simple. Teams need bigger running backs now because of players like Robey. It's very hard to simply fake these small defenders out and/or outrun them. Shady is a lot of fun to watch, but imo there are far too many plays for losses, or little to no gain. I am sorry to bring up the Alabama kids but these are the players I watch the most. To those who think Shady is worth the money, please compare his stats to those of TJ Yeldon. Shady has him beat, THIS year. Now, tell yourself that for every dollar TJ is paid, McCoy makes about 10, and this is to say nothing of the mileage. If this sounds like a good situation to posters, then they should continue to battle it out with Badol. But every now and then they should look at the W/L column too. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will watch Scott. I can't help it. And I will spend the off season looking at you tube trying to find good blockers, DL and linebackers (the latter is simple, Alabama has 2 great lbs). Then Spring will arrive, the Bills will draft a defensive back in round 1 and be doomed to failure. But like I said, I can't help it.

I think that Dallas is planning to start their 4th string quarterback. Seriously. Rex will not blitz him and will use Jerry Hughes in coverage. The corners will probably play 10-15 yards off the receivers. I also expect 10 penalties and at LEAST 2 wasted time outs. Jauron was a bad coach, and I do mean a literal horror show. Ryan is worse, and one has to hear his nonsense as well as watch it. It's like a bad dream.

EJ deserves time on the field with first team offense.
Bill from NYC replied to gsurdam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point? EJ was in for 2 plays!!! What is the good point? EJ love really has no boundaries, does it? I am hoping he is worth more in the trade market than a conditional 7th round pick. I guess the chances are around 50/50. -
Where did it go wrong in 2015

>>>>Take it a step farther, I am willing to bet the Bills win a payoff game before the Jets.<<<<< Your post was good, and funny. That said, you might want to re-think the above sentence. I would hate to see you in the poor house. -

I would call Glenn, although not totally consistent, a high caliber lineman, or very close to it. The rest of what you say is true, and quite depressing. Btw the qb list seems to be growing. Who would you rather have on the team, Cyril Richardson or Greg McCarron? I suppose the love that Whaley has for EJ was, and probably still is not to be denied. After this season with Rex, will you switch your screen name to "8-8---> I wish"? -

Maybe Whaley can trade up and take him, or another defensive back! Wouldn't that be great? We could continue to lose games but it would be OK because the player is probably "good." Then, we can post how "smart" Whaley is. -
Off Season Needs: Draft and Free Agency
Bill from NYC replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) General Manager 2) Head Coach 3) Defensive Coordinator 4) Many Positional coaches 5) Defensive End 6) Defensive Tackle (Kyle is probably done) 7) Offensive Tackle 8) Guard 9) Center 10) Linebackers 11) Receivers (need a #2) 12) Running Back for depth 13) Get rid of Brandon 14) Backup Quarterback Other than that we look OK. -
McCarron played a little better than Cyril Richardson, wouldn't you say? Richardson as you know is not a very good player, but Whaley drafted him 7 picks before McCarron was selected by Cincy. I suppose Guru Whaley didn't see any need for a qb because he was enthralled by EJ Manuel. Who knows, he might still be. The more I think about it, Whaley needs a ticket sitting next to Rex in the next plane out of town.
-
The above is beyond dispute and there are now countless examples. Someone said in another thread that Bills Fans tend to get behind and blindly support someone who doesn't completely suck. Well I have seen this many, many times and that is Whaley imo. He IS bad but he doesn't 100%, totally suck like Rex. Either way, if they get rid if Whaley I will either not care or be slightly glad. Again, jmo.

That is an interesting hunch. I am going to let that theory settle in and kick it around. I know EXACTLY what you mean. Cousins was under no pressure at all. If that play was ongoing now he would STILL be standing tall looking for a receiver. Last week I saw something even worse. They went with a 3 man rush and one of them actually dropped back. I am almost at the point where I think the league should investigate.
