  1. No, you are NOT an idiot. The comment was true. That said, would you be happy that he said this if you owned the team and had billions of dollars that someone could sue you for? Yeah, I know the game was violent well before he made these comments. But this will be used in court some day, or so I think. It was an ill advised comment by a rank amateur. Go ahead, categorize me.
  2. I agree with the above, but I don't think that it is the issue. This kid is guaranteed millions of dollars. Excuse me for being greedy, but I care WAY more about the Bills making the playoffs than I do about Shaq's career. If he misses 5 games, he comes back in week 6 as a rookie. This isn't a great situation. For another team it would be far less catastrophic, I will give you that. The Bills however are not in a position to take this kind of risk imo. I don't know how old you are, so forgive me as I take you on a trip down "Bills Bad Memory Lane:" In 2003, the Bills had the 23rd pick in round 1. Their offensive line was as bad as one could imagine. A very good guard, Eric Steinbach, dropped down and fell into their laps. He went on to have a wonderful career and would have been a big boost to the Bills. Well instead of Steinbach, Donohoe drafted an injured Willis MaGahee. He missed 20 games before he saw the field. When he did play, he was "good." The problem is, the Bills were not, and continued to screw up most drafts, no matter who was the GM. So, count me as one who is rather skeptical of intentionally drafting injured players, and now you know the reason (btw Kujo is another prime example). GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. So, you think that the poster isn't a grown up because he disagrees with you?
  4. Yes, and throw in the fact (whether fans like it or not isn't the issue) that Whaley trades away draft selections and it does appear that they are in fact trying to "win now." Imo it makes what is happening with this team that much more pathetic.
  5. He was always a great kid. I was hoping the Bills would draft him back then and wish him nothing but the best.
  6. Yes, yes and yes!!!!! The above is what this board is about, and I believe why it was established. Sorry if it is boring, but I have a story of my own to tell: When the Bills signed Shady, I looked at his age and stats and it sure sounded like a good move! I was happy . Then, I read the opinions of some on this board. It was pointed out that his stats were declining, he was (as we all are) getting on in terms of wear and tear, and Whaley threw millions of (cap) dollars at him for little to no reason. As a Bills Fan who is fully accustomed to despair, my elation soon faded and I was yet again dismayed. What a surprise! Now, does the above scenario make me a fanboy or a negative nancy? Or perhaps just a person willing to consider the views of others? As time went on, it was clear that Shady had talent, but also flaws in his game. Additionally, the pass happy NFL defenses appear to be getting smaller, thus creating better opportunities for bigger backs such as Karlos, and hopefully the kid we drafted. Then, Shady goes to a club and gets jammed up. But wouldn't you know? The cops were a bunch of scumbags; Shady is a nice guy and was a victim. In reality, it shouldn't matter if the cops WERE scumbags. McCoy got himself jammed up! And there is ZERO reason not to suspect he will have some sort of a repeat performance. I'm going to go out on a limb here and tell you that this is how life works. I have seen it over and over, thousands of times. My point? It's ok to change ones mind. Otherwise, why talk to each other? We could just play tapes of things we said 10 years ago!!! And Badol, time will tell wrt Whaley. Everybody loves him now because Darby is "good." And hey, Darby is VERY good. In fact, he is one of my all time favorite draft picks EVER by the Bills! Imagine, getting a top corner NOT in round 1? Who ever thought..... Sorry to ramble but yes, it's about dialogue. Many good friendships have been formed by the dialogue here. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. My hope is that after this thread ends, people will resist being critical of every poster who doesn't absolutely love Rex, Whaley, etc. Maybe some will even think twice before blaming actual fans for the Bills woes, and insulting them for being unhappy with the nauseating state of affairs. And Badol is correct. We ALL have our own set of coping mechanisms. We have to.
  8. Don't you want to read a few more times that it is ok to go from 54 to 21 sacks, and then draft an injured defensive end?
  9. Death threat? You really come off as a sick individual. I hope you get help.
  10. Yes John, Rex is just great, right?
  11. Are we John? Does it matter if the Bills ever win? Perhaps making the playoffs once in 17 years is asking too much. Stale? You are in no position to insult other posters. Frankly, it's been many years on this board since I have read posts as trite and dull as yours. Otherwise, be well. How many sacks do you expect? Would 22 be enough?
  12. So true. Both coping mechanisms can go too far. Some people think that every single facet of the Bills sucks. For instance, some have already turned their back on Tyrod. I just can't understand this. I am not saying Tyrod is Elway, but he MIGHT be very good, and soon imo. Otoh, we have color coded charts posted here to convince us that Ryan doesn't suck. Seriously. And have you heard? Whaley is great! I view him as undisciplined, impulsive, and lacking a coherent plan. There are some posters who still think that EJ is good and even those who will tell you that Jauron was a good head coach! I suppose I am viewed as being on the negative side and yes, it is a way of coping. I am just not able to blame all of these years of stupidity and futility on anyone other than the organization. I FIRMLY believe that some of the posters on this board could have brought this team to the playoffs at least once in 16 years if they were the GM. It's almost as if a team would have to try not to make the playoffs for that long.
  13. Don't be ridiculous. I EXPECT Ryan to lose. Therefore if he does (as I suspect he will) I want him fired. If he wins 10 or so games and we make the playoffs I would think that he deserves to stay. NOWHERE did I say that I WANT the Bills to lose. I can't even bring myself to want this when games don't matter and losses would give us a better draft pick. 26, this team went down more than 60% in sacks. 360 lb. Marcel Dareus drops back in pass coverage. Our best player just broke his foot and our 1st round draft pick is already going under the knife. If the above is a winning formula that sounds promising to you, let's agree to disagree and stay friends. Shall we?
  14. I don't think for even a minute that Rex will ever get the Bills to the playoffs. We might not see .500 again until Rex is fired, which I hope happens during the season.
  15. I agree and think that running qbs like Tyrod will soon become the norm.
  16. The OL needs talent on the right side and overall depth.
  17. Yes, the Ryan circus needs to leave town.
  18. What matters in this conversation really isn't Mario (imo). The Bills went down more than 60% in sacks with mostly the same players because of a sub-par coach who should be fired. 60%!!!!!!! I wonder how many times this has happened to any team, ya know?
  19. , OK, I'll ask.....if you took Tyrod off the list and substituted EJ, where would you place him, in the top 5?
  20. The above is SO true. This is why I consider pass rush to be much more important than the secondary. Even if a young Mel Blount was playing today, he could only cover 1 receiver at a time. Teams now use 4 or 5 wide sets on a regular basis. Pass rush prevents completions and causes turnovers. It's too bad there doesn't seem to be a way to keep track of coverage sacks, plays on which the coverage lasts long enough for the pocket to collapse. This is a vital area in which a good corner earns his money. That said, a professional receiver will get open given the time. Pass rush is the most important way to prevent this. Jmo. How did you like our corners in 2015? And how did you like our defense?
  21. That's not true. This year we took a first round DE so Rex can call upon him to cover wide receivers. Get your facts straight.
  22. Well, if Rex's defense goes down another 60% this season, they will finish up with 8 or so sacks.
