Yeah, the Bills historically have not focused enough of the secondary and running backs when it comes to the early rounds of the draft, to include top ten picks and other huge resources. That's the problem. Another is that Whaley should trade away more draft picks, not less. Whaley is great. The Ryans are great. Let's grab a first round corner and fix this thing! I knew there was a way to make this team a winner that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

Seantrel Henderson suspended another 10 games

I think that most people with any discipline at all in their lives could pass up a joint if at the very least hundreds of thousands, and in some cases millions of dollars were at stake. I mean it's not as strong an addictive substance as heroin, crack, meth, or even alcohol. Hell, I haven't had a cigarette for 1 year, 1 month and 11 days and I bet that it is MUCH more of an accomplishment than giving up weed. I won't blame Rex for this one whereas Badol cites this players' long term history of stupidity and lack of impulse control. It does not however surprise me at all to see players on a team coached by Rex to lack accountability and discipline both on and off the field. -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects

The two first round picks are both awesome players. Allen is the complete physical package AND he is smart. A seemingly great kid. As for OJ, don't be fooled by his stats. He has been on a team full of stars and this offers him fewer touches. But he proved to be completely clutch in the Clemson game. This year he learned how to block extremely well and could turn out to be a top 5 or 10 tight end in the NFL. Oh, and Reuben Foster, Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson are all monsters. I think that Foster's game is 100% suited for the NFL. Ragland is stronger, but Foster is also outstanding in coverage. He flies all over the field and can even rush the quarterback. It wouldn't surprise me if he makes the pro bowl as a rookie. Jmo. -
Rumor: Some in Bills org want to move on from Dareus

Could you imagine? If we drafted Julio Whaley would not have given away the store for Watkins, although I suspect he would have traded the picks for someone else. -

That's a shame because a healthy Fournette might be the best running back in college or even the NFL. Jmo. -
Let's see the range of the Bills' fanbase.

I am considering relocating to Cornelius or Huntersville. Are there Bills crowds there?. One townhome next to the one I was looking at had a Bills Flag in the front yard. I feel like I saw more Penn St. and Ohio State shirts, etc. more than anything else. -

These are political issues. I am not taking a side because I don't care either way. Whaley knows the system and waiving the clause was incredibly stupid. -

Time for McCarron. PS: Congrats on Saturday. I would have been screaming in the streets happy if that was the Tide at #5. -

Good point, but I COULD tell you that he already had problems and it was dumb to waive that clause. Moves like this eat cap space and prevent teams from winning. -

Count, looking back (which is admittedly easy to do), there were better picks than Marcel, and I say this as a Crimson Tide Fan. But that isn't the issue. He HAS played well, but the new contract was indefensible. He already had problems with substance Count. Putting all those millions in his hand and waiving the clause amounted to telling Dareus TO go and get stoned! -

I fully agree! The above is the absolute truth. -

Do you think it was smart to add a clause that guarantees that much money even if he takes drugs? Is this what you really think? As far as I know, the GM is ultimately responsible. This behavior is a repeat of a familiar pattern wrt Whaley. They should get rid of him asap and let him (and Rex) ruin some other team, (if anyone would hire them). -

>>>>>Typically, a drug policy violation would allow the Bills to get out of all guarantees, but a rare clause in his contract limited the punishment to only the year of the misstep. In other words, Dareus’ 2016 guarantees went out the window, but all other guarantees through 2021 remained untouched.<<<<< Would anybody like to once again sing the praises of Whaley? Just another example, maybe the biggest of all, of Whaley pissing away the resources of this football team. He really needs to go. -
I am not sure how many "shut down corners" exist today because of the rule changes. I think defense is mostly about pass rush these days.
-
Unfortunately, assuming that Whaley will not deal away more picks is quite the reach imo.

Terribly sad but more than likely true.

Pros and cons of keeping Rex next season
Bill from NYC replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He paid too much for Shady when he did not have to. And at this point (I readily admit this could hopefully change) I don't like the trade-up for Watkins. I said it when he made this deal that a serious injury would be a huge risk. Sammy is very good but he isn't a quarterback or Von Miller. Whaley trades away crucial resources and overpays. He also tried to re-sign Byrd and Spiller. I think he lacks discipline. This of course is jmo. -

I love drafting blockers so yes, a center would be a great idea but in all honesty, I don't know of any at this point. -
Pros and cons of keeping Rex next season
Bill from NYC replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You make good points. I think that Rex will be gone unless he makes the playoffs. Whaley also hinders this team from getting better. He doesn't completely suck, but he continues to trade away our draft picks and sign players to huge contracts that don't appear to be worth the resources. We would be way better off without these guys. -

1) Wide receiver 2) Offensive Tackle 3) Guard 4) Corner 5) Safety Of course this could change if the right pass rusher is available. Tim Williams has a higher ceiling than Jerry Hughes. Perhaps a lot higher, and I am a big fan of Hughes. -
Why is that? Gilmore is worth more than 100 million and Rex is a defensive genius.

The kid is a top 10 talent if he keeps his head on straight. I realize that's a big if but 3rd round talent? I couldn't disagree more and I have watched every game of his career. -
