Why not Use Transition Tag on Gilmore

Why not Use Transition Tag on Gilmore
Bill from NYC replied to Stussy109's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Facts? Please bandit. Gilmore was a waste of a draft pick and would be an even bigger waste of a signing. He is not a winner, nor will he ever be. Whaley might be stupid enough to sign him. After all, he did try to re-sign Byrd. If he does sign Gilmore, it will only put the Bills deeper in the cellar of disgrace in which they currently reside. It is sad, but many Bills Fans have the Stockholm Syndrome. Sure, let's draft a top 10 safety or corner! Let's give a big costly contract to Gilmore! The Bills didn't lose in spite of players such as Whitner and Gilmore. We are consistent failures BECAUSE of wasting our best resources on so-so players such as these. -
That is indeed quite the low bar. The Bills had some of the worst offensive lines in the NFL for many years. Don't you remember the Ostroski days? Tyrod is a band aid for a shaky offensive line. They look good on the run because teams must stay back a bit for fear of TT taking off. The pass blocking is not good at all. The right side was flat out terrible last season.

Why not Use Transition Tag on Gilmore
Bill from NYC replied to Stussy109's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am afraid that he might sign the tag and stay on the Bills. Were it up to me, I would get rid of his lackluster, indifferent ass and gain the comp pick. Not having to tie up and waste 10-15 million on Gilmore is good news too, imo of course. -
Compensatory Draft Picks have been Announced

Actually he also gave away a 4th for Sammy and didn't he give up a 4th for Ragland? -
Compensatory Draft Picks have been Announced
Bill from NYC replied to BuffaloHokie13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
John, isn't that the point? Whaley trades away our draft picks, doles out huge contracts, and we continue to lose. Now, while so many teams are gaining resources, we continue to languish without much good news in sight. Whaley is a disaster and he should have been fired with Rex. -
This has been my complaint with the Bills for decades. That draft was decent...... http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/years/2010 If they had offers, they could have traded down and selected (in addition to those you list) Pouncy, Brandon Graham or Gronk, AND had an extra pick! Instead, they went for a running back. They do the same thing with defensive backs, and may do it again this year. Look, Gilmore is going to book; poor A. Williams needs to quit while he is able to walk. That said, I don't want the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rated defensive back at 10. It doesn't work. We should trade back and gain extra picks that Whaley threw away, or jump on a qb or pass rusher. jmo.

Gunner's FINAL Mock 2017 - v.3.0 now posted (see page 4)!
Bill from NYC replied to GunnerBill's topic in College Football
4 other teams passed on Allen to take a defensive back. Imo, Allen is a talented, hard working, intelligent, grounded, star player. Would the Bills turn away from him for a safety? History (for what its worth) says yes. -
Why not simplify the stategic plan for next year.
Bill from NYC replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Improving the OL would be a nice start. Another wide receiver would also help. A decent defense would serve to shorten the field and create more turnovers. Last but not least, Tyrod will at least be more experienced. I am not the biggest optimist on the board but it's POSSIBLE that the Bills will improve. I suppose that's easy to say in February. -
The Six Most-Likely Scenarios for a Bills Trade-Down

My thoughts? I think that this was a well thought, great post. Thanks for this, and all of your other work. -
2017 will be a success if we (fill in the blank)
Bill from NYC replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think so at all. The right side isn't good at either guard or tackle. In fact, Mills is terrible. Wood is average and Incog is good, not great. Glenn is a player. Tyrod makes them look better than they are. Defenses must account for him taking off and running. -
I disagree ML. It needs to be said that Whaley is an undisciplined amateur who stupidly trades away our draft picks.

Fire Whaley. The man is incompetent. It will take time for another GM to win. I get this but with Whaley there is no chance of building a good football team. Sad but true. -
From EJ to AJ ?? A Definite Upgrade !!
Bill from NYC replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It really is CM. Teams like the Pats often have qbs to use as backups and then trade. They enter the draft with lots of picks and a sound plan. These are things that will never happen with Whaley, who prefers to toss away draft choices like they were Frisbees. -

AJ McCarron is one shining example of why it is SO important to draft quarterbacks. The Bengals got him late in Round 5. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/years/2014 The above is a link to the 2014 draft. We took stiffs in round 4 and 5, before McCarron was drafted. AJ played pretty well when he got in there and will fetch a 3rd or more in a trade, or so I think. When the Bengals drafted him, their qb was Andy Dalton and they took him anyway. When Whaley shunned him, our qb was EJ Manuel. What a mess. -
Bills are at Clemson this morning

Why not draft a qb AND keep TT? Would you rather we take the 2nd or 3rd highest rated corner or safety? How did that work out with Whitner and Gilmore? -
Drunk on 2 beers? Lucky you! I used to drink quite a bit of beer. If 2 was all I ever needed I would probably have another $50,000 in the bank.

Dolphins Cut Branden Albert
Bill from NYC replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL John, we are getting old. The younger posters (lucky for them) were not around for much of our suffering. When Whitner was drafted in 2006, I remember posting on TSW, asking if he was tall enough to get on all of the rides at Disney. We were here for draft after draft watching our GMs shun good quarterbacks and blockers for much less useful players. That said, I will never stop hoping. SOME day, we will have a killer draft! We will probably have to get rid of Whaley for this to occur but again, there is always hope. -

Ah yes, Brandon Albert. We could have drafted him or Flacco but opted instead for Leodis McKelvin. I mean after all, we "needed" a corner, right? I hope we don't do something so stupid this time around. -
It's time to get the band back together.

Good choice! Marcus Spriggs could block for him. -
I agree with you 100% but this time of the year is when Bills Fans can actually cling to hope. We have a top 10 pick which I suspect would be worth quite a bit. There will surely be opportunities to gain picks for this and next years draft. Will Whaley take advantage of this? Will he stay put and address important positions? Like I said we can only hope.
