  1. Did you ever listen to Pat Kirwin speak of his time as GM John? He refers to Pete Carroll as "his boss." It isn't unprecedented to have a head coach calling the shots. What seems strange (at least imo) is a relatively inexperienced man like McDermott doing so. And I have no idea if it will work out. I am on record as not being too thrilled by this draft. Not at all, but it's hard for me to picture a worse situation that Rex/Whaley. Those 2 were almost as disgraceful as Levy/Jauron.
  2. I hear ya Badol. It's hard to explain why, but I think that our replacement for Gilmore will be a better, more efficient player and an improvement at corner. Gilmore seemed to come up short on clutch plays from where I sat, and I was way less than pleased with his effort. Jmo. Given the above, I was STILL not happy that the new regime purchased yet another ticket on the first round corner merry go-round. Doing so is a primary reason why we lose so many games. The 2nd and 3rd round picks made sense, however trading up didn't seem to, and it made me flinch at the memory of a second rate Whaley getting fleeced for Watkins. The hope I cling to is that getting rid of the clowns that were running things HAS to be an upgrade. I think it will be but you are right, it's not what one would call edge of your seat excitement at this point.
  3. As a generally skeptical person, count me as one who thinks it almost has to be better. I did not like the 1st round draft selection, but getting the extra draft pick showed that McDermott has more discipline than Whaley. Getting rid of Rex and Doug was a great, wonderful move that should pay instant dividends. If Tyrod can improve and he should with a healthy Watkins, a wild card berth would not be that far out of the question. Jmo.
  4. How long should Hillary go away for?
  5. This is what people continue to miss. Even bandit, who I truly respect, missed the point imo. You see, it doesn't phase me how much corners are paid. Allocating an unreasonable amount of resources to the secondary (and rbs) cost the Bills trips to the playoffs. I don't understand how one can look at the W/L record and say otherwise.
  6. The poster didn't present his side very well but his stance on this issue has some merit. Should a team draft first round defensive backs? Certainly, just as soon as said team has a very good quarterback, a deep, solid OL, and top pass rushing defensive ends, and only then if they feel that a particular db is the bpa. Are you telling me that you cannot see that draft picks such as Whitner, Gilmore and McKelvin have seriously injured this franchise? Is that what you think? It started before this too. When Thurman, Kelly, Bruce, and Reed were getting old, Levy and co. were busy drafting first round defensive backs. This was the beginning of the mess we are in and it has not changed no matter who is in charge. Tell me, what makes drafting the 5th or 6th rated corner this year any different? The 2018 first round pick? Sure, that makes this pick more palatable, but odds are this pick will be used on another defensive back or a running back because this is what the Bills do. That and lose football games. There is good news. We got rid of Whaley and Rex. If these guys were in charge for 10 years we would lose for 10 years. Lets hope that the new crew will learn from the idiotic, inexcusable mistakes of the past and know how to properly build an NFL football team.
  7. It's about time there was some love for Liz Montgomery! My contention is that millions of men grew up with a secret, or not so secret crush on Samantha.
  8. I disagree. The Hank Stramm Chiefs and the first Steeler championship team were defense first imo. The Steelers did have a great offense but the defense developed sooner imo. I would have to devote some time to evaluate the rest.
  9. I very strongly agree with the above!!! The only thing I would like to add is that while the SB isn't necessary to make me happy, we could REALLY use a trip to the playoffs, and I don't think that this is asking much. But it really is frustrating to watch the same stupid mistakes being made over and over again no matter who is running the show. Getting rid of Rex and Whaley was a great move, but they should fire Brandon and whoever else is left. And btw, I really don't expect the Bills to be worse than they were last season. Call me crazy but I don't think that Gilmore was much of a loss. We shall see.
  10. Yeah, Brandon must stay. We haven't lost enough football games and need his expertise.
  11. In that case, what do you think the Bills could get for him in terms of draft picks?
  12. To be fair, the Bills have also wasted countless first round picks on running backs, not just the secondary.
  13. Do you think that they would be strangers? You must hate the RICO laws too, no? Let's can agree to disagree, shall we? I dislike murderers. I have seen enough of their work and don't view these darlings from an abstract, lofty, sanctimonious perch.
  14. I totally don't understand your logic. Are you concerned or angered that the gang banger is still sitting in jail? If so, why?
  15. I have to step back because I'm getting choked up. Oh the horror, to inconvenience gang bangers!!! Let's simply agree to disagree. We might as well because I am just not so fond of gangsters and other killers.
  16. Yeah, damn those state attorneys for trying to keep a gangster in jail, right?
  17. So what? He is making it harder for a gangster to be sprung from jail. Does this really bother you?
  18. I don't know....Ducasse might be the worst player in the NFL.
  19. An article in Sports Illustrated claims that Jim Kiick has "holes in his brain." I am not going to pretend that I know what this means but it sure sounds bad.
  20. I respectfully disagree. We drafted a defensive back instead of a possible franchise quarterback in round 1. I think that the real question is whether or not doing so will result in the Bills winning football games. If White is good or even very good, it won't matter if we continue to lose.
  21. I had the same reaction. I would strongly suggest that anybody who has not yet seen this movie should watch it asap. And I strongly agree with you last sentence. It also changed the way I look at the game but I'm not even sure how, or what can be done about it. These guys are lightening fast genetic mutants and they are going to continue to get injured. And you know, Jim Kiick should not be living in squalor.
  22. Thanks, your answer makes sense. Having a quarterback in place also makes drafting early defensive backs more palatable. Would you happen to know if they invested much in free agent DBs during the time period that you mention? Also, what was their record both before and after the 2016 draft? It makes me wonder if it was productive to virtually dedicate a draft to the secondary. Yes, it does concern me that McDermott used his first pick in Buffalo on a corner because of the number of times I have seen it fail. It was great that he picked up a 2018 first round pick. I am thrilled by this and hope he doesn't waste it on a DB. We will need to solidify the QB position, the OL, and probably the pass rush by the next draft. Perhaps even WR, who knows? This is true, and the best DB who ever played the game can only cover 1 at a time. And while I fully agree that the secondary should not be ignored, I for one believe that the best way stop opposing offenses is with pressure and sacks.
  23. He traded up to get health club membership.
