  1. Agreed, but what concerns me is that the OL looks as if it is at least starting to suck, meaning that maybe it was already weak with Taylor masking it ala Flutie. This kid isn't elusive like Tyrod and imo will get killed unless the OL picks up their game by a considerable margin. I too am very anxious to see what happens but perhaps a tad less optimistic than you. Once again, all we have is hope.
  2. I think that it is fairly safe to say that Kyle Williams, as much as we respect him, looks as if he suddenly slammed into a wall.
  3. Nice job as usual. The line play on both sides was so bad, it brought back memories of Jauron. Take Glenn of that OL and they range from average to sucking, and this includes Incognito. It was THAT sickening. Hopefully they will properly address this but I think most of us know where they will focus.
  4. I think that in addition to CTE, the players are hurting their own product with the protests. To answer your question, many college games are played before 100,000 fans plus. Fans are loyal and a smaller number of players are participating in these "demonstrations," or so it would seem. I don't think that college football is losing much of it's audience, but I cannot say that I know for sure. I think that this topic is worthy of a thread on the College Football Board, a page that SDS and some posters were wise enough to resurrect on this site. It make TBD, which was already a wonderful place, that much better.
  5. Seriously, how many of you thought the Crimson Tide was going down last night? They almost did. Dan Mullen is smart. He ordered his offense to take their time and let the clock almost run out between plays. This was a brilliant strategy to limit mistakes. You can't make mistakes and defeat the Crimson Tide. No doubt, Miss. State is good and their quarterback is big, strong and very effective. They played their hearts out and deserve praise and respect imo. Time for the Bama players to lick their wounds, practice hard, and continue to listen to the greatest coach in the history of college football. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I am by no means an expert but imo, there are no teams as good as Alabama and Clemson were in 2015 or 2016. This also includes the current Tide and Tigers. I don't know if the talent is more spread out or if there is less of it.
  7. What is it that makes you confident about playing the Tide? I am NOT saying that you shouldn't be confident mind you. I'm just wondering why.
  8. Last night Bama didn't play well and suffered costly injuries. They came through and won 24-10, and the score would have been even more lopsided if 3 clear pass interference calls were made against LSU. Even the master hater Gary Danielson admitted that these were horrible calls. Luckily, those who filled in for the injured players played quite well. Minkah Fitzpatrick hurt his hamstring and still saw a bit of action, but frankly I hope that they keep him out next week. The punter actually made a huge difference. He had booming kicks with amazing hang time. The Tide needs to improve, lick their wounds, and continue listening to their coaches. If they do these things they still have a decent chance but this is going to be one very tall task, even for Saban.....the best coach in the history of college football. PS: Sincere condolences to PSU and OSU Fans. I didn't see much of Penn State but did catch some of the OSU game, which made no sense to me.
  9. First of all, nice work Virgil. You are doing a wonderful job and I thank you for this. The Bills were on the road, playing on a Thursday, and taking on a team with 3 straight losses. The Jets really had their backs to the wall and the loss didn't surprise me, especially (as you say) given the 17 year history. That said, the team bosses seem to have given the players a sane program, one that they are buying into. Before the season I predicted 4 wins and I was wrong. They are better than this and easier on the eyes than they have been in some time. Keep up the good work and thanks again!!! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I can see Ridley being really tough to cover from the slot. He get open easily and has great body control. Whoever drafts him will be getting a very good receiver.
  11. I have no issue with where they are currently ranked and neither does Saban. If they handle their business they will be back up there. Hey, there is a ton of football left to be played. You guys are in it as well. What I will say about the Tide is that they are in complete control of their own destiny. And for the record, I think that last years squad had better starters, although the defense was banged up by the end of the season. I'm not making excuses; Clemson deserved the win. This year they are as deep as a well. Lots of fun ahead.
  12. This really is possible and its a shame because they are probably the most talented, and certainly the best coached team in the NCAA.
  13. Fair question.....I don't know how impressed with Louisville or VT. I will let you know more about Auburn soon enough. I will say that this one season, Alabama hasn't played such a tough schedule either (for a change). At least not yet.
  14. I don't necessarily think so. If that game very close it would be tough to push one of them out.
  15. I know this but I think that it was more egotistical than classy. As if the great one is coming in to talk to the players who as I said have their own coach, and just defeated his highness. Maybe I'm wrong. Good point.
  16. 1) I am not, at this point, overly impressed by Clemson. Their schedule is weak and their coach is a bit too full of himself imo. I get it, they are the defending champs and I respect this. That said, I read somewhere that Sweeney went into the Syracuse locker room to address the team after they beat Clemson. I don't know, is that a bit pompous? Syracuse already has a coach, no? 2) Can someone tell me why we don't read more about Nick Fitzgerald, the QB from Mississippi State? Yesterday, I watched him zip the ball between defenders. He had great pocket presence too and can even run. And, he is listed at 6'5". Seriously, what am I missing? 3) I can't tell much about PSU or Ohio State from the game yesterday. In fact, the game left me confused. The OSU defense looked tough but why did they give up so many points? Also, are you people impressed with the Penn State quarterback? 4) As I stated before, this Alabama team is far from the best one I have ever seen. They are however the deepest. I'm not kidding....if the lose their starting QB, best RB and a starting DE to injuries, they might not even get worse. I'm not joking. I'm sure there are teams with more stars but imo this depth is just crazy, and matters more with the playoff system. The top 4 teams will have to play 14 and the top 2 15 games, which is a lot for college kids. This, imo gives a big edge to teams like Clemson with their weak schedule. 5) Is any PAC 12 team as good as Washington? Now there is a great coach!!! I hope that if Coach Saban decides to retire (hopefully in 10 years or so ), Chris Petersen is his replacement. 6) Any Final 4 predictions?
  17. Hold on, you weren't joking around? You think that Boldin is being oppressed and needs to be unchained?
  18. Thank you Joe. Wow......... Absolutely. You and JSP summed it up in just a few sentences.
  19. He has enough of an arm and as SD said above, he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. He also stays calm under all circumstances and is a superb athlete. I can't visualize the kid ever getting into trouble, and he is smart. That said, he will need a lot of work to be a drop back NFL passer. I think it is possible but not a sure thing.
  20. I honestly don't think the Tide would suffer if Hurts is injured.
  21. My father was born in Alabama and I'm a life long fan. Since Coach Saban came to town the school has grown by leaps and bounds academically. Kid from all over NYC and Long Island are trying to attend. Best of luck to your son, and ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Come on over to the college board!
  23. It was a strange game imo. Yes, they were awfully flat in the first half but they are catching many much deserved breaks this season. The last 2 qbs the Tide faced were brand new, and Bryant Denney Stadium is NOT the place to start your career. Now, they play LSU after a bye and might even get Da Shaun Hand back in the lineup. The best teams they will play lie ahead. Is this team as good as last years? On defense, I am thinking no way, except the secondary. Is the offense better. Yes, I think they are better and much, much deeper. I am not going to talk any smack. There are several teams that I have a lot of respect for, but I can't say that any frighten me. It will be fun!
  24. Why? Because he disagrees with you? If someone walks outside in the ghetto and gets shot, the chances are almost non existent that it would be by a cop. Sadly, some remain inside and get hit by stray bullets. What makes you think that most poor inner city people fear police officers more than they fear many of their neighbors? Are you talking from experience, or did you read about this in a Hillary Clinton coloring book that was laying around the Dem. National Convention?
