It was a long, but good question. The year before the Colts drafted Peyton Manning, they drafted 2 excellent tackles in rounds 1 and 2. Having Marvin Harrison was pretty cool too. Now, the league has changed and having an excellent qb would seem to be a prerequisite, given the rule changes. Given the above, it's going to be tough to draft a top qb in 2018, because the Bills somehow managed to win an unforeseen amount of games. I am generally not a fan of trading away draft picks to move up. We just got rid of a sub-par GM who believed in this. The extra picks we have came at a heavy price. We walked away from quarterbacks, one of whom looks excellent. I am hoping, as another poster stated, that we can draft a QB, OL, and DL without trading up. It would be great to do so and not throw away picks, or waste them on RBs and defensive backs. Maybe if we do so we can even reach the playoffs for a change.

Is this the worst draft class of the decade?
Bill from NYC replied to Laughing Coffin's topic in College Football
I agree and I didn't say that the talent was depleted. That would be ridiculous. It just seems to me that there were tougher teams last year, and there did seem to be more talent. Some drafts are better than others. Nothing new here. It's only my opinion but I think that last year's Washington team would also be the best in the NCAA this year. -
Agreed and he couldn't have picked better time to leave Miss. St.after what happened to Fitzgerald.

Yes but once again, Alabama did not lose to any garbage teams, unlike many other contenders. This is beyond dispute, no?

At some point I hope that you are less depressed and miserable and feel better about yourself.

How is Pervterno doing these days?

They also didn't lose to garbage teams, unlike some other contenders. You never know.

Actually, this is a great question. My opinion is that you get him some blocking in short order. The year before the Colts drafted Peyton Manning, they drafted LT Tarik Glenn in round 1 and RT Adam Meadows in round 2. The Bills don't do things like this but this year there are extra picks. It would be nice to see them forego the running back and defensive back positions just once in order to focus more on blocking. Do you think this is possible?

Here's our problem: Draft Rounds 1-3
Bill from NYC replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rubes is correct. For more than 20 years the Bills have been throwing early draft picks directly down the sewer. Even this year, we passed on quarterbacks and traded down to grab a what? You guessed it, a corner. I know.....he is "good." For every so-so starter such as Bradham you can name, I can name an early pick ala Spiller that served to destroy any chance of playoff football. -
Here's our problem: Draft Rounds 1-3
Bill from NYC replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A HUGE part the problem is/was wasting draft picks (some of them top 10), on running backs and defensive backs, and neglecting the quarterback position and the offensive line. I don't see any mystery here, do you? Seriously. Good. One is getting old, the other is average and making about 2 or even 3 times what he is worth. -
Saying it now: Tyrod will have a big game.
Bill from NYC replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hard for me to believe I am typing this but I too predict a win. And btw, we would get a worse draft pick with a win but the Chiefs pick we own would be better. I guess the game doesn't matter so much. -
I like our chances. Did you see the featured back for Auburn. Like Fourcette, he takes that stutter step in the backfield and waits for a hole. It works well too but he can't (imo of course) do that against the Crimson Tide. Fourcette had no success against them. I also suspect that Coach Saban will have tricks up his sleeve. I could easily be wrong but I think we can handle Auburn. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted a prediction of 4 wins and worse, I was outraged when a poster said they would finish with the 15th pick in the 2018 draft. I was sure they would be in the top 5. I apologize to the poster. The Bills cannot even do a good job of losing.

You were FAR from alone Yolo. I would guess that many would still refer to him as a "shutdown corner" and a "good draft selection."

A measured take on McDermott
Bill from NYC replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The above are my favorites, other than getting rid of Gilmore. Perhaps now they won't draft a first round safety. -
Nate Peterman's performance against the Chargers
Bill from NYC replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did not. The RT spot was painfully bad and Miller is overrated in my respectful opinion. Wood, imo is OK but overpaid. Incog is good but getting old. Glenn is a very good LT, when healthy. I have said ad nauseum that run blocking is the easy part of OL play. Blockers know the count and can fire out. The rough part is pass protection when they are backing up and getting hit. Ducasse and Mills are a recipe for a serious injury for most qbs other than Tyrod. It is ugly. -
Nate Peterman's performance against the Chargers

It was an easy conclusion to reach. Those of us who were around for Flutie remember how he thrived on running for his life as well as broken plays. This made life much easier for the inept OL. Historically, the Bills just don't place much emphasis on blocking. Sad but true. -
Gameday Thread 2nd Half Bills @ Chargers
Bill from NYC replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, McCoy has 110 yards, and the Bills are down 40-7. I'm not sure I have ever seen this before. -

I don't know, it might be the worst tank ever. Why tank at 5-4 and fighting for a playoff spot? I truly don't understand. -
Nate Peterman's performance against the Chargers

The one thing I cannot understand is if you are going to suck, why not do it from the beginning of the season? Seriously, would it be possible to win a game with this kid? I guess it might be; I really don't know. -

Before the game, BADOLBILZ said that Peterman had the potential to be a "turnover machine." Folks, when Badol makes a statement like this, there is a 99% he will be correct, and I have been talking Bills football with him for 20 years. Sorry, Bro, you deserved a shout-out. -
Team again quit on McDermott
Bill from NYC replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry my response is late but I have been busy, and frankly I needed more time to digest the bolded above. Wow. If this is true (and I can't really think of a reason to doubt you), the NFL as we know it will never be the same. Again, if the above is true, I predict: 1) There will be more teams with 5 wins or under. 2) There will be more teams with 10+ wins. 3) More players will be sitting out injuries. 4) Expect to see less effort put forth (more "Gilmore" attempts at tackling). 5) The chances of sliding into even a wildcard slot without a premier QB would be slim to none. More than likely, CTE will be a primary cause of the above. Will they risk serious physical injury for a "lost cause?" Between this and of course the kneeling, I can visualize thousands of fans being turned off to the NFL. The players will be harming their own brand and there will be less money for future players. Being a Bills fan for decades is already about as easy as painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. What will happen when the players openly quit, and the economy tanks just a bit? Am I off base here? -
Now that Nathan Petterman is the starter?
Bill from NYC replied to fansince88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, but what concerns me is that the OL looks as if it is at least starting to suck, meaning that maybe it was already weak with Taylor masking it ala Flutie. This kid isn't elusive like Tyrod and imo will get killed unless the OL picks up their game by a considerable margin. I too am very anxious to see what happens but perhaps a tad less optimistic than you. Once again, all we have is hope. -
The Last 5-4 Team to Sit a Vet for a Rookie?

I wouldn't bet on it.
