  1. Hold on, you weren't joking around? You think that Boldin is being oppressed and needs to be unchained?
  2. Thank you Joe. Wow......... Absolutely. You and JSP summed it up in just a few sentences.
  3. He has enough of an arm and as SD said above, he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. He also stays calm under all circumstances and is a superb athlete. I can't visualize the kid ever getting into trouble, and he is smart. That said, he will need a lot of work to be a drop back NFL passer. I think it is possible but not a sure thing.
  4. I honestly don't think the Tide would suffer if Hurts is injured.
  5. My father was born in Alabama and I'm a life long fan. Since Coach Saban came to town the school has grown by leaps and bounds academically. Kid from all over NYC and Long Island are trying to attend. Best of luck to your son, and ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Come on over to the college board!
  7. It was a strange game imo. Yes, they were awfully flat in the first half but they are catching many much deserved breaks this season. The last 2 qbs the Tide faced were brand new, and Bryant Denney Stadium is NOT the place to start your career. Now, they play LSU after a bye and might even get Da Shaun Hand back in the lineup. The best teams they will play lie ahead. Is this team as good as last years? On defense, I am thinking no way, except the secondary. Is the offense better. Yes, I think they are better and much, much deeper. I am not going to talk any smack. There are several teams that I have a lot of respect for, but I can't say that any frighten me. It will be fun!
  8. Why? Because he disagrees with you? If someone walks outside in the ghetto and gets shot, the chances are almost non existent that it would be by a cop. Sadly, some remain inside and get hit by stray bullets. What makes you think that most poor inner city people fear police officers more than they fear many of their neighbors? Are you talking from experience, or did you read about this in a Hillary Clinton coloring book that was laying around the Dem. National Convention?
  9. Tennessee at Alabama - 3:30 EST For those of you who care about defensive backs: Minkah Fitzpatrick (S): This is a big, fast kid who can play safety, corner or nickel. He is very smart, perfectly coordinated, a great tackler, blitzes very well, and stays out off trouble off the field. If you listen to his interviews, he has total respect for Coach Saban and never gives him any grief. He's a junior but I think that he will declare. He might as well because if healthy he is a certain top 10 pick. Ronnie Harrison (S) He is listed at 6'3"/215 and has the body control of someone 5 inches shorter. Ronnie is already the hardest hitting safety I have seen in a very long time. He is a horizontal missile and reminds me a lot of Steve Atwater. Yeah, I said that. In addition to the hits, he covers very well and never gives up on a play Not ever. He will go all out to tackle a player on the 5 yard line in the 4th quarter with a 30 point lead. Saban has to watch him a bit because the kid can lose his temper. If Minkah wasn't coming out he would go earlier, but I expect a team to get lucky and get him late in round 1. They will be getting a predator. Another junior. Calvin Ridley (WR) A bit undersized but a nifty wide receiver with lots of speed and very good hands. Ridley seems to be open all the time. He has fresh legs whereas he plays with a quarterback who runs a lot. Ridley might be best suited in the NFL as a slot receiver, and I think an excellent one at that. He too is a junior. I think he will declare but he may surprise me and stay ala OJ Howard. Bo Scarborough (RB) Yet another junior, Bo is listed as 6'2"/235. He is a huge physical specimen, strong as an ox. His first step is not the fastest but with a little head of steam he picks up plenty of speed and he's very, very hard to tackle. He also is a very good blocker. I can see him getting drafted in round 3. I don't have time to list the 15 or 20 other players who stand out but I would like you college gurus to tell me what you think of freshman WR Jerry Jeudy. He is small and was highly recruited by Clemson. Due to his limited size I couldn't understand why but he looks impossible to cover from where I sit. Saban only puts him in for a limited amount of plays but again, if any of you happen to see this game, please keep an eye on #4 and tell me what you see.
  10. Fair enough.
  11. He won't be traded because of the cap hit, then again the Pats have tons of that, no? I speculated that he will not be a starter by the end of the season. I stand by this prediction. It is just my respectful opinion that he was never as good as the consensus here purported him to be, and certainly not worthy of a top 10 pick in a draft. Agreed.
  12. No good prospects from Tennessee or Alabama?
  13. I tend to agree but I can't truthfully say that I would be angry if they did. The way I look at it is that it could help get us a quarterback. I also don't think the Broncos will have a great record, and this draft seems to be a good one. Despite the above, teams just don't trade solid left tackles. When we traded away Peters he was the best player on the team. It didn't work and as you imply, the odds are against it working now.
  14. For the record, I would be all for SDS asking for a fund drive of sorts. We have been using this site for many years and countless friendships have been built and sustained for decades.
  15. Fantastic point mead. I'm sure quite a few of them hate the arresting officer and have little to no regard for the domestic violence victim. Not to people like Promo.
  16. I know. I wish you could see a tape of that game. You would immediately recognize him as a mega-talent. The Bills missed time and again on qbs. I know the drill but in this case so did the rest of the league. Men who forgot more than I will ever know about football passed on him for 3 full rounds. I just don't get it.
  17. Dak had a lower grade because he had a DWI which by most accounts was unusual behavior for him. John, I recall posting on TBD, hoping that the Bills would draft him based on what I saw from him against the Crimson Tide. They sacked him 8 or 9 times and hit him on just so many plays. They all but killed him and he was still fighting back and throwing some nice passes. He was also big and very mobile. One of my unsolved football mysteries is how he lasted until round 4, dwi or not. He will always have my respect as a player. Way too early to say, but I will be watching more as time passes.
  18. Please let us know who they are so we can check them out.
  19. Not if Peterman can play. Otherwise yes, I would.
  20. You make a great point John. You know, I think that if they really like him they should take him in round 1. Jmo.
  21. Why GB? I haven't seen him so I'm not disputing your claim, but Greg Cossell is high on him.
  22. :) Coach Saban even said that this comment was a bit much and that he should have quit at just the word poison. The Tide has the best pair of safeties I have ever seen on a college team at the same time. Ronnie Harrison is a monster, and gets better each week. He is listed at 6'3"/215 but he plays stronger than most linebackers. And did you check out the true freshman DE Labryan Ray (#89)? If he stays healthy he is well on his way to greatness. The kid is tossing people around as he is FILLING IN for an injured Da'Shaun Hand. As I said, I expected a lot less from the defense and I'm liking what I'm seeing.
  23. They already gave him the mint. His contract..
  24. OK granted, but Gilmore is still a "shut down corner," right?
