QBs, NFL Draft, Identity Politics (New Poster)
Bill from NYC replied to CamboBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the impression that this is one simpleton with multiple screen names. Nothing to see here. -
I think that Reuben was on his way to greatness. In college he couldn't cover as well as Moseley, but he could cover and excelled at every phase of his position. When Reuben replaced Ragland the defense improved considerably, and Ragland was a very good player in that system. Reuben was particularly vicious, to the extreme that Coach Saban called him a "predator." He went all out on every play. Ronnie Harrison is another fierce player. If he came into the league 10 or so years ago I think that he would have ended many careers of wide outs. He will probably slide to round 2 because he seems like a player who will be hard to control. I am anxious to see what he does in the NFFL.

QBs, NFL Draft, Identity Politics (New Poster)

I'm curious. If "most people" on this board are such a despicable lot, do you care to tell us why you post here? I'm going to venture a guess, OK? I am thinking that you have come to enlighten us with your abundance of football knowledge and insight. Am I close? If so, thanks. I'm not sure how we survived sans your bevy of wonderful information. -
Matt Miller's latest Mock makes sense
Bill from NYC replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is but after Darnold. I think that Darnold can do it all and will have tremendous success in this league. Jmo, and rating qbs isn't necessarily my strong point. -

Agreed on both points, but I would pull the trigger if Mayfield is still there. I am SO glad that Whaley is gone. He gave away the store time after time. It really is refreshing to know that our management team has some degree of discipline. -
Again, bills HAVE called up to browns for first overall
Bill from NYC replied to *******'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nor do I. I think that if the Browns trade the #1 and Darnold turns out to be great, their fan base would explode to the point that it would cost the owner money. The game has changed yet again (imo). Because of the kneelers, attendance is down and advertisers are pulling out. The CTE thing also brings a risk in terms of profits. At some point the owners (and definitely the players) are going to make less. I know..... they are already super rich. I get it but the wealthiest people are often the hungriest for more money. I cannot forsee the Browns owner taking that kind of risk again. Jmo. -
Michael Bennett - warrant out for arrest
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not comparing the 2 incidents John. I am speaking of the role of a police chief. Speaking out about strange or horrible incidents is part of their scope of employment. The press even demands info from chiefs. I have no issue at all with the chief making comments about a big, tough genetic mutant abusing a 66 year old female cripple. And btw I hope she takes him for all he has and his career falls apart shortly thereafter. -

And you point is? -
My favorite beer is Old Mecklenburg Brewery "Copper." They stay within either 60 or 90 miles (I forget which) of their brewery in Charlotte, NC. My limit is 2 these days. I'm glad I didn't know abut this beer during my days as a heavy hitter.

Says who? Perhaps the chief saw video footage that clearly indicates what happened. Should the police chief in Florida have remained silent over the school shootings because you and/or others think that this is not within the purview of his employment? How could you make a definitive statement like this? Were you ever a police chief John? Sheesh! Personally, I hope he goes to court and defiantly kneels in front of the judge, with Kaepernick as a character witness. But you know what? He won't. Even the toughest, meanest killers I ever saw go to court and shut the #@*^ up. This dude went up on a cripple. As strong as he is, the man is a kitten. -
I value OL as much as any poster on this board and I must agree with the above in terms of drafting a guard at #2. I also know just how bad the Giants OL is. It is probably the worst in the NFL; however, a guard at #2 is still entirely out of the question. It makes me believe that the rest of the article is mere speculation.

Zay Jones just impacted our draft

I was hoping that Payne would be there at 22 if we don't trade up. I guess not? -

3-21: AJ McCarron on WGR
Bill from NYC replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coach Saban said this YESTERDAY in a press conference after spring practice. His thing is that teammates do not compete against each other; they compete against themselves to find out what their goals are, how good they can be and how much they can help the team. The best thing about McDermott imo is how he channels Coach Saban. -
This matters Yolo. As I stated above, it doesn't seem as if police or others were hurt. This is huge imo. My experience has taught me that more often than not, when a good guy gets sick, he is just that. And when a scumbag gets sick, he is a sick scumbag.

I pray for his mental and physical health. So far I have not heard anything about police officers or innocent civilians getting hurt and this is great news.

Ryan Nall, White Lightning... and Thunder
Bill from NYC replied to MakeBuffaloGreatAgain's topic in College Football
Wow, what a throw back! He reminds me of guys like Riggins, Csonka Marv Hubbard, etc. I don't know how well this will work in the modern NFL but the kid sure looks tough. Edit: Not impressed with 15 reps on the bench at the combines. -

If it's not the truth in fact, it is the correct philosophy. It's not the only reason, but the primary reason for the decades of despair is the lack of good quarterback play. -

Well, Andy Reid thought enough of him to trade away a very good Alex Smith. I too wanted Watson. I'm a Crimson Tide Fan and saw how well he played against Saban defenses. You saw how Clemson looked against the Tide without Watson. You see OMF? YOU out-guessed Bills management! -

And my contention is that sometimes there are fans who out-perform Bills management. I don't demand perfection. I'm a Bills Fan and I know better. That said, Bills management scoffed at the idea of drafting Mahomes or Watson last year. Instead, they traded down and selected a corner (what a shock!). I can recall a slew of TBD posters not liking this move. Make no mistake, White looks like an excellent corner. Still, do you think that this trade was a good idea? I don't and never have. It reminds me too much of mistakes of the past: Whitner at #8 - He was "good" and we "needed" a safety. McKelvin at #11 - Another supposed "need" pick. He played well..... after a few years. Dareus, Gilmore, A. Williams, Darby.....I could go on and on listing players that we drafted that were considered to be "good" while we had quarterback issues and lost football games. Now, this GM and Coach seem to be much better. You don't see me here ripping them apart. Still, they must show us more. Bills Fans deserve it. Given the above, I don't have a problem with a fans calling out team leadership and holding them responsible for huge mistakes. I mean this IS a message board, and one that happens to contain some folks who I consider to be extremely knowledgeable. Jmo. -

I am familiar with this type of post. It's just another "attack the fans" post. It isn't that original. Please allow me to, in the most respectful manner, remind you to whom you are posting: We are the most diehard fans you can imagine! We are still here after decades of losing and front office stupidity. I am not going to list all of the idiotic moves by the Bills front office, but let me hold up the 2006 draft as a cookie cutter example of inept, bush league stupidity. And I dare say that this front office also had all the tools of which you speak. Am I correct so far? The truth is that I feel good about our current coach and GM. They appear to be solid football people and have made some pretty good decisions thus far. That said, you are here telling dedicated fans how little we know which is your right I suppose. But do remember that a 12 year old kid with a few draft magazines and internet access could have done a better job drafting players than Whaley, Rex, or some of the other inferior football people we had running this team. There are many fans on this board who made great draft predictions, only to watch the Bills take Leodis McKelvin at #11 and lose game after game, for years. Some of the posters here (not me) are football experts. Do stick around and see. Anyway, that is the past. Most Bills Fans are still scarred in some way and skeptical but maybe things will change. It does look OK so far imo. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Hello Buffalo Fans - Two Bills Drive
Bill from NYC replied to Bengalholic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't care so much for Brown in coverage. He always appeared to me to be more of a throwback type of LB. He is VERY strong and tough to run on. If Glenn can stay healthy, you will have a very solid LT. He is huge but he can also move. He isn't Orlando Pace but he is a perfectly fine LT when healthy imo.
