The above Sir, is extremely hard to argue with. I don't think that an attack on Christianity was called for. -
Taron Johnson can be a steal
Bill from NYC replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, sure. You are making my point for me. What difference does it make that some of these players were "good" if our team sucked because of drafting them? A good secondary with no qb and a lousy OL is pointless. It's much like putting a slate roof on a house with a crumbling foundation, no? I like what the Bills did in this draft. They drafted late round dbs and I think it was a great strategy. I am even fond of Levi Wallace having seen every one of his games. They could have taken the best db in the draft with their top pick and the team would have went backwards, even if said db was "good." -

Not quite sure which dbs to which you are referring. Who did you think was that good? The Bills had a multitude of high round dbs and investing so many resources in them (and of course running backs) is what caused our team to suck. Were there other factors? Of course, but we passed on quarterbacks and blockers for the likes of players like Whitner, McKelvin, Aaron Williams (who took how long to develop?), and a slew of others for decades. The list of QBs and blockers we passed up for these and other dbs is endless. Look at the Browns, a textbook stupid franchise. A corner at #4? Really? They could have traded down and built a foundation. They could have taken the guard from Notre Dame and many others but they took a #4 corner. I wonder why they suck? -

2019 Mock Drafts and top prospects
Bill from NYC replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
As you might have guessed, I have watched every minute of every game this kid has played. There are SO many variables and things that can go wrong but I am telling you that this kid has pro bowl if not Hall of Fame talent, and he seems to get better in every game. He has a similar build to Mario Williams and is flat out ferocious. Again, injuries happen every day. He seems like a great kid but things happen when you put millions of dollars into the pocket of a kid. That said, check him out this year if you get the chance. He has already started to shine; he was easily the best player in the A Game. He would have had 5 or 6 sacks. -
I would LOVE to see him on the Bills with an OL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Not that it should matter to others; but, I am very happy to see the results of this poll. This kid deserves every chance and I for one think that he has the talent to make it work. Looking back, as a group we were highly supportive of EJ and Losman, two players that I thought had little to no chance of being any good. I was a big fan of RJ and thought that he would turn this team around. Josh deserves the support of our community. He is thrilled to be here and I respect this. He is a big strong kid who can brave the elements of Buffalo winters and zip the football through the October winds of WNY. We Bills Fans deserve a top shelf qb. I hope that he turns out to be great! PS: I hope to see AJ shine as well! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well said Clint! I feel the same way. If he is really good, he will own the town and the Bills can go places. Exciting times, no?

I agree with your entire post. I don't remember being happier with a Buffalo Bills draft (to include 2 udfas from the Crimson Tide ). John, I don't know if the draft will work out well, but I love the theme of it. Now, were it up to me I would have allocated more resources to blockers but I an not the GM and again, the draft was quite sound imo. Now, if they don't bolster the OL next year I will be pissed off. PS: This OL class didn't appear to be that great. There will be some studs coming out of you know where in 2019. Trust me.

Anybody else have faith in AJ Mccarron?
Bill from NYC replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We talk serious football here. Please take your pansy ass ignorant drivel to another site. -
As I said in another thread, the Bills OL might go back to sucking once again. Tyrod won't be there to but a band aid on it. McCarron did wonderful things at Bama but he played behind probably the best OL in the history of college football, especially the year they destroyed Notre Dame. ND was obviously a good team but they had zero chance against the Tide OL from the very first play. It's too bad because a weak OL would really harm the Bills chances at making the playoffs. We Bills Fans are just too accustomed to this.

Beane just said guy was falling that he wanted
Bill from NYC replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need blockers. For the last couple of years our OL, (although overrated imo), didn't suck. Tyrod made them appear to be better than they were but they still were not what I would characterize as a bad group. Now, we might be back to having a horrible OL. For the Bills a bad OL is par for the course. During our streak of no playoffs the Bills employed some of the worst blockers ever to step onto an NFL field. -
This National Champion Alabama Team had no less than 12 players drafted, and this does of course not count our 2 (and I don't know how many other) udfas. I'm unsure if this has ever happened before. I am NOT making a statement that the Crimson Tide will win #18 in 2018. They need to stay healthy, etc. I do however think that the Tide offense will be better this year at every positional group. Maybe a lot better. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Quick Note About Levi Wallace.....
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Sir, is quite the original screen name. Coupled with the avatar, it is top 20 imo. Yes and they are used to hard work and tough practices. Some will disappoint but a majority are solid. -
Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron!

Levi Wallace was an actual walk on. That's right. a walk on at the University of Alabama who made the team. I am not saying that the kid has Minkah Fitzpatrick type talent. He does not. But, he works his ass off and I have seen him make some clutch plays for the Tide. Now, I am not qualified (nor do I focus on defensive backs enough) to predict how well he makes the transition to the NFL. What I do know is that Saban loves him (btw Saban started as a defensive backs coach) and Calvin Ridley praises him. The following link is a nice read. A qb? A pass rusher and a DT? Late round and a UFA defensive backs? I don't know how it will turn out, but this is my favorite draft in 20 years or so. http://www.espn.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/130603/how-levi-wallace-went-from-a-walk-on-to-a-star-at-alabama

Gil Brant on Sirius yesterday - awful

9 hours have passed. Are you ok yet? -
Yes, he will certainly have to put forth a great deal of effort AND stay healthy. And while I am not claiming that he is great, he did make some clutch receptions for the Tide and again, not a huge amount of chances. I like the fact that Coach Daboll more than likely had some serious input; and, I think Bills Fans will like Coach Daboll as well. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly ABF, I think he prefers passing over the media.

Did you watch the Crimson Tide much this season, or only the championship game? Foster is a speedster who was playing for a quarterback (Hurts) who isn't the greatest passer. He was also surrounded by great receivers including Calvin Ridley, 3 freshman (1 you might remember), and others. There are only so many chances. Now, throw in the fact that although he does adapt and change with the times, Coach Saban, deep down, would rather unleash his running attack on opponents than pass. I think that Foster will make the team. If nothing else, the kid will provide a deep threat. Imo, this signing is something to be happy about. Why such a huge longshot? Are the Bills simply stacked at wideout?
-
Well, I'm going to give my obligatory shout-out to Bradley Bozeman - C - Alabama. He wasn't invited to the combines due to concerns about his athleticism but he lost some weight for his workout day in Tuscaloosa. Saban really likes the kid and he played at Guard for a couple of years. I also like that he was voted team captain. The Bills might be able to grab him in a late round and I hope they do. The kid is very smart and he is a winner. https://247sports.com/college/alabama/Article/Bradley-Bozeman-goes-through-Alabama-Pro-Day-at-a-new-low-weight-and-giving-his-best-effort-115943719 PS: Of course, I don't want anyone to think that I am partial to National Champion Crimson Tide players.

I believe in credit where its due. I often disagree with Promo but he nailed it this time. Brandon, Levy, Whaley, and Nix were horrid; even TD was a disgrace on The Bills. These folks seem to be different. They had a plan and executed it and the plan makes sense. Joe, I would rather take a risk on a qb than lose with another 1st round DB, even if it was Minkah!
