  1. I never put Gilmore in a class with Smith or Clements. Not ever. In fact, I would take Winfield way over Gilmore if for no other reason.....effort. I think that White is already a superior corner to Gilmore. Btw I credit you with predicting how good White would be well in advance of the season. I don't (and never did) think that it was smart to trade down and pass on Watson; but, I must admit that White is a special player. Good call!
  2. Nice list! What strikes me is the one that made the most sense was Fitz. That's just sad. I have a few to toss in: 1) The 2006 draft, even though they lucked into Kyle Williams, who was probably taken as an afterthought. 2) Not keeping Jason Peters. 3) Leotis McKelvin in round 1. 4) Giving Derrick Dockery (as I recall) a 48 million dollar contract.
  3. Wow, really? I didn't think this but maybe it was because Smith, although great in coverage, couldn't catch picks, or am I way off base?
  4. I completely agree. I even think that the steroids hurt Bennett more than they helped him. Even though he got much bigger (remember his neck?), he would still often get "engulfed" as you say by good blockers. I was young, I couldn't see all the games and my memories are vague but I saw him in college. I did not think that he was a worse player than Derrick Thomas. He was virtually unstoppable at Alabama and he started out great at Buffalo. I always believed that he was better than what we saw most of the time.
  5. I think that you are making something out of nothing. Do you listen at all to McDermott? He is trying to be a carbon copy of Nick Saban, complete with the hand clapping and the "process." He means "faith" in the system. Coach Saban demands that players do their individual jobs and trust the system and their teammates. He can sell it to his players because it works. He wins and he is going to keep on winning because of his system. I once heard Coach Saban say that he doesn't prepare as much for other teams as much as he has the players practice perfect execution of what THEY are supposed to do. I expect to hear this from McDermott real soon.
  6. Brother, PLEASE hang in there and do not be embarrassed to seek help. I will be praying for you.
  7. 1) The 2006 draft was the epitome of stupidity. The draft was STACKED!!! Levy said that he rejected several offers to trade down. He stayed put at #8 and drafted Whitner. Not bad enough? He traded UP to get Mc Cargo, then he drafted defensive backs early in rounds 3 and 4, neither of whom was any good. This draft set us back about 5 years. Whitner, a semi-decent player, cost the Bills 36 million dollars as I recall. 2) Almost as dumb was the selection of Spiller. Remember him? All he needed was some "space." He would have been a semi-decent pick......in round 6. 3) We passed up two excellent blockers in order to draft Leotis McKelvin, this on a team with a horrid OL. It was almost as if we were trying to lose. A 14 year old kid with a few draft magazines could have done a better job.
  8. I found it. He tore his right Achilles tendon.
  9. Doc, isn't that the injury that ended Bryce Paup's career? If so, I sure am glad that times have changed. I can only imagine the career Paup would have had. It really would be a steal if this kid could develop into a RT. The Bills are coming dangerously close to becoming the Bills of yore with a piss poor OL. The young fans should take note of the 2017 Giants. They had an OL like we used to have and wound up drafting at #2.
  10. Nah, not true. On Wednesdays we sit around and have rap sessions and discuss whether or not we could come within 30 points of that powerhouse University of Iowa. The jealousy will eat away at you if you can't let go.
  11. I am just so sorry to hear this, and I pray for God to comfort you and your loved one during this crucible of despair.
  12. The above Sir, is extremely hard to argue with. I don't think that an attack on Christianity was called for.
  13. OK, sure. You are making my point for me. What difference does it make that some of these players were "good" if our team sucked because of drafting them? A good secondary with no qb and a lousy OL is pointless. It's much like putting a slate roof on a house with a crumbling foundation, no? I like what the Bills did in this draft. They drafted late round dbs and I think it was a great strategy. I am even fond of Levi Wallace having seen every one of his games. They could have taken the best db in the draft with their top pick and the team would have went backwards, even if said db was "good."
  14. Not quite sure which dbs to which you are referring. Who did you think was that good? The Bills had a multitude of high round dbs and investing so many resources in them (and of course running backs) is what caused our team to suck. Were there other factors? Of course, but we passed on quarterbacks and blockers for the likes of players like Whitner, McKelvin, Aaron Williams (who took how long to develop?), and a slew of others for decades. The list of QBs and blockers we passed up for these and other dbs is endless. Look at the Browns, a textbook stupid franchise. A corner at #4? Really? They could have traded down and built a foundation. They could have taken the guard from Notre Dame and many others but they took a #4 corner. I wonder why they suck?
  15. As you might have guessed, I have watched every minute of every game this kid has played. There are SO many variables and things that can go wrong but I am telling you that this kid has pro bowl if not Hall of Fame talent, and he seems to get better in every game. He has a similar build to Mario Williams and is flat out ferocious. Again, injuries happen every day. He seems like a great kid but things happen when you put millions of dollars into the pocket of a kid. That said, check him out this year if you get the chance. He has already started to shine; he was easily the best player in the A Game. He would have had 5 or 6 sacks.
  16. I would LOVE to see him on the Bills with an OL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Not that it should matter to others; but, I am very happy to see the results of this poll. This kid deserves every chance and I for one think that he has the talent to make it work. Looking back, as a group we were highly supportive of EJ and Losman, two players that I thought had little to no chance of being any good. I was a big fan of RJ and thought that he would turn this team around. Josh deserves the support of our community. He is thrilled to be here and I respect this. He is a big strong kid who can brave the elements of Buffalo winters and zip the football through the October winds of WNY. We Bills Fans deserve a top shelf qb. I hope that he turns out to be great! PS: I hope to see AJ shine as well! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well said Clint! I feel the same way. If he is really good, he will own the town and the Bills can go places. Exciting times, no?
  18. I think it will also be a better draft for blockers. Perhaps much better.
  19. I agree with your entire post. I don't remember being happier with a Buffalo Bills draft (to include 2 udfas from the Crimson Tide ). John, I don't know if the draft will work out well, but I love the theme of it. Now, were it up to me I would have allocated more resources to blockers but I an not the GM and again, the draft was quite sound imo. Now, if they don't bolster the OL next year I will be pissed off. PS: This OL class didn't appear to be that great. There will be some studs coming out of you know where in 2019. Trust me.
  20. We talk serious football here. Please take your pansy ass ignorant drivel to another site.
  21. As I said in another thread, the Bills OL might go back to sucking once again. Tyrod won't be there to but a band aid on it. McCarron did wonderful things at Bama but he played behind probably the best OL in the history of college football, especially the year they destroyed Notre Dame. ND was obviously a good team but they had zero chance against the Tide OL from the very first play. It's too bad because a weak OL would really harm the Bills chances at making the playoffs. We Bills Fans are just too accustomed to this.
  22. They need blockers. For the last couple of years our OL, (although overrated imo), didn't suck. Tyrod made them appear to be better than they were but they still were not what I would characterize as a bad group. Now, we might be back to having a horrible OL. For the Bills a bad OL is par for the course. During our streak of no playoffs the Bills employed some of the worst blockers ever to step onto an NFL field.
