  1. And, they actually traded down 8 spots in that draft. Nix was perfectly willing to risk losing him. As I recall, Geno Smith probably would have been the pick if we lost EJ. Obviously, the Bills never should have been in the position to have to chose between 2 rather lousy qbs. I understand that some don't like the Allen pick but I support that selection 100%. We moved up and did what we had to do instead of passing on Joe Flacco for Leotis McKelvin.
  2. My signature on this board was "Draft McKinnie!"
  3. The thing is, Williams was an overweight Right Tackle with a chronic ankle injury coming out of Texas. Not such a great combo for a 360 pound lazy man with 25 or 30 million in his pocket. McKinnie was a superb blocker at Left Tackle both in college and the NFL and was twice as agile as MW on the worst day of his life. Btw, we passed on Ryan Clady, Brandon Albert and Joe Flacco in order to draft the great Leotis McKelvin!
  4. That's an easy one. Donte Whitner in 2006. That particular draft hurt us for many years. OK, well maybe not THAT easy. Mike Williams over Bryant McKinney was the height of stupidity.
  5. Thanks for such a well thought post. Keep 'em coming, this will be a wild season in college football.
  6. This would be a wonderful idea IF we are trying to get the #1 draft selection in 2019.
  7. I don't know if McCoy is innocent or guilty, but I will say the same thing I posted when he was jammed up for fighting cops and here it is: This, if he gets off, will not be the last time that he gets into trouble. Criminal behavior repeats itself. I am not talking about one DUI 40 years ago. I am saying that in most cases, violent criminal behavior is consistent.
  8. Sure, do as I say, not as I do, no? I mean, it's "utterly irrelevant." It's been almost 2 years and you are all but (if not literally) praying for some sort of collusion. Don't you think that these witch hunting crooks would have taken action long ago if there was wrong doing? My respectful suggestion is to tell yourself that the people spoke in 2016, and to worry more about the bastions of truth and decency such as Hillary, Mark and Huma Weiner, Wasserman-Schultz, Harvey Weinstein, Spitzer, Maxine Waters, and every other degenerate running your party. PS: Please do not view the above as an endorsement of republicans.
  9. How many times has the US gone around the world to influence foreign elections? Were you complaining when Obama campaigned against Brexit and was in Israel supporting the opponent of Netanyahu? I sincerely doubt it.
  10. >>>>>Since 2008, 48.3% of the five stars who played for Alabama have been drafted in the first round. The rest of college football is 17%. The difference alone is staggering. This statistic shows the player development program that Alabama runs compared to the rest of the nation. Since Saban arrived, 77 Alabama players have been drafted. LSU is second with 72, followed by USC with 66. Saban has produced 26 first round draft picks which is 15 better than LSU and ten more than Ohio State. Twelve players drafted this past April set an Alabama and SEC record. The iconic Saban even has produced 30, consensus All Americans during his eleven years at the Capstone. Oklahoma has 14 and Florida State is third with 12. Every school on the list below has had their head coach replaced except Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State during Saban’s eleven years.<<<<< Those are some absolutely amazing stats. Seriously, it would seem to be impossible to accomplish these things, especially while changing coordinators almost every season.
  11. Imo Steve Young was clearly superior to Tarkenton, and Aikman doesn't belong on the list. That said, the list was really not too shabby.
  12. The folly was drafting Williams, an overweight RT with a chronic ankle injury over McKinney, an excellent left tackle.
  13. Well sure Joe, look at the heights it has taken us to!!!
  14. In 2002 they used a first round pick on a lineman (Mike Williams). In 2009 (the year they traded their all pro left tackle) they used a first rounder on Wood, pick #28. Those were the first round picks that they used on blockers in this century. They focused mainly on rbs and defensive backs. If you wish to defend this you should. I cannot and I find it disgraceful. Jmo.
  15. Good point, and for a losing team to boot. Bills fans are the best fans of any team in any sport. It's no secret that I am a lifelong Alabama Fan. We have a tremendous, loyal fan base but can you imagine how easy it is to be an Crimson Tide Fan? Even the name is fantastic! They are consistently great and have the best coach in the history of college football, and it isn't remotely close. If Bama loses their qb on the first play this year they will still probably lose only 2 games. I think all Bills Fans would be better off emotionally if they also were Tide fans but I digress. Nobody is more loyal that Bills Fans. Nobody, and I mean this. We stuck with them through decades of disappointments and defeats yet year after year our hopes are high. I think that my daughters are stronger people because they are Bills Fans, and I sincerely mean this. Yes, being fans is something we are the best at. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. NFL defenses smell blood. It's hard to cover up even one weak spot in this game of matchups. Our OL is once again littered with holes and question marks. I am trying to stay hopeful but I have been down this road many, many times. I can sadly recall some of the worst NFL players I ever saw "blocking" for the Bills. I am hopeful about the team now because of this draft but it seems like no matter who is running the show, we neglect the OL or at the very least dedicate resources to blockers who can't play. Of course not. And some Jauron ball on defense?
  17. So have the Bills. Let's hope that things have changed.
  18. https://247sports.com/Gallery/Bleacher-Report-unveils-early-2019-NFL-mock-draft-117815924/GallerySlides/?ftag=ACQ-07-10aac1c&vndid=AD_VARIANT_ID and selecting a DT. I don't place much stock in this but we couldn't be dumb enough to waste a #1 pick. Could we?
  19. Absolutely. I expect Tua to be flat out great. My dark horse is Najee Harris. If he stays healthy he will catch dozens of passes in addition to being a great runner. Wow, really? Francis looks like he will be broken in half.
  20. The truth is that I suspect that the Bills are going in the right direction. I was very fond of this draft. But, I fear that the OL will be SO weak this season that they will resemble Levy/Jauron teams with zero push. In 2019 there is a good chance that the qb issue will finally be solved. We will have a ton of cap space and perhaps even a high draft pick. We can strengthen the OL and other positions of need.
  21. 1) AJ does a decent job. 2) We go 2-4 in our division. 3) 5-11, and I'm being generous.
  22. It wouldn't be so difficult. His posts can be divided primarily into 2 categories: 1) Attacks against Bills Fans. 2) Attacks against every sportswriter who doesn't write lengthy pieces on how great the Bills are from top to bottom. Count me as one who likes Bills Fans more than I like the team, and with good reason. I have conversed and met in person with good, smart, really nice people like yourself and so many others. During these times, the team wasn't very good (to be kind). I will never give up hope for a championship but this is less promising that the good times to be had talking to and being around Bills Fans. And as far as the sportswriters.....again, try writing about a team that not only sucks most of the time, but often plays a boring style of football and screws up almost every draft. That would seem to be a whole lot harder than covering the Pats. I hope that THIS draft was the one we were waiting for. It looks good imo.
  23. Can you even imagine this team with a good place kicker? Hey, do you think they will move Williams and play Leatherwood at LT? He was shoving Ga. players around with ease as a freshman. My hunch is that this offense will be virtually unstoppable.
