  1. You see, Coach Saban is the best college football coach of all time. Even more remarkable imo is that he might be the best in every phase of college coaching to include: Recruiting Game management Developing talent Getting players to buy into his system Discipline Also, one of the most important aspects of college football is recognizing talent. It is said that you don't get beat by recruits that you failed to sign. You get beat by the ones you DO sign who don't play well for whatever reason. Alabama always has some players who don't last. This season he has already tossed 2 LBs (a position of need) off the team. One of them was the kid who went after a coach in the playoffs. He makes mistakes like all humans but he wins and is going to keep on winning.
  2. Wonderful post as usual.
  3. The rules should be relaxed. If this happened at Alabama I would be furious. And, the penalty was too harsh. I don't recall......what happened to Winston when he was caught stealing? Isn't that much worse than selling your own sneakers?
  4. Yeah, and for a 7th round pick.
  5. Seems a tad harsh, no?
  6. I am under the impression that Washington will be pretty good next year. And I do think the defense will keep us close much of the time but if the offense is lousy, the defense will get tired. The OL needs to step up and I'm not quite sure that they can.
  7. This is a well thought suggestion. I wouldn't think it possible sans the Buffalo roots Mack has. I really, REALLY am against trading away our precious draft picks; I'm sure its a Whaley hangover of sorts. If they sign him as a UFA they will still have picks and they might be early ones at that. If this club is finally managed correctly, we will soon have a winner. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I for one would be loathe to trade away our draft resources for a linebacker, even a great one. The truth is, an early pick would not surprise me after this season. I would rather see the Bills draft an offensive tackle and a pass rushing defensive end with the multiple picks that it would cost for Mack. If they do decide to trade for Mack I won't be furious mind you. It wouldn't be quite as stupid as trading for Sammy, but imo it would be counter productive in terms of building a winning team in the long and perhaps even short term.
  9. The quarterback controversy is getting very ugly with fans. Some folks are even accusing other fans of racism if they want Tua to start. Imo, there is no possible way we could have beat Georgia with Hurts at qb. We really beat Clemson with defense to be 100% honest. I hope that Coach Saban stands his grounds and starts Tua. I know its early but I think that Tua is already one of the best qbs in the NCAA and will have great college and pro careers.
  10. Actually, the above is the reason that records are kept of 911 calls. I even had records of hang up 911 calls from locations which often turned out to be related to DV. Stalking and trespassing are many times a byproduct of DV. Custody disputes are another horror but interestingly enough, those complaints were often made by men. Often, but by no means exclusively.
  11. They had no evidence to support ANY allegations? Nothing? Wow.
  12. This is what a genius sounds like. It is no wonder why the line of coaches who copy him (including our own) is so long.
  13. I am old, but I am not retired 25 years. The big change in NYC came right after the OJ case. It has been pretty consistent since then; the biggest change since I left is that now virtually anyone can go to Family Court to seek an Order of Protection. The eligibility used to be limited but I won't go into specifics so as not to bore others. This case is confusing because I am not there and don't even have a clear picture of what is happening now, or even why it is happening. Again, I do suspect that if there really were 9 or 10 calls from a specific person or even place, the school officials were well aware and would be happy to let Meyer take the fall but I don't pretend to know.
  14. That seems to be a pretty good summary. Once again, I am guessing because I don't have all the facts, but my guess is that there are school officials that are pretty scared right now and would be perfectly content to let Urban take the fall for everyone.
  15. The above is 100% true. Saban hates when players think they are too good after a big win, and he hates when they are too depressed after a loss. The man is a genius. Wrt the rankings, I'm not sure what to expect from the defense. Do you think they will be even almost as good as last year? Some key players (#47 Buggs and virtually the entire secondary) need to step up. As far as the offense, this could be the best one I have ever seen at Bama. I'm not joking. They are deep and great at every position (even LT lol). Let's hope they stay healthy!
  16. I agree and btw, if the police really did have a history of 9 or 10 calls to the residence, it is my guess that the entire leadership of the school knew about it, or at least most of them. And btw it's an educated guess, as a retired NYCPD Domestic Violence Unit Detective.
  17. So true. I watched it this morning before work lol! Imo, the Bama receiving corps will be much improved despite the loss of Ridley. In terms of Foster, I understand the skepticism of some Bills Fans. The numbers weren't there and Ridley was almost always open. And as you know, Hurts was having problems. I think Foster will be a pleasant surprise to Bills fans. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Do you think that the above is an easy thing to do? Both of those kids might be great, and I heard that Devonta Smith is pretty decent too but I'm not sure.
  19. You see, the above I disagree with. If he was told of a crime, he should have referred her to the police. Once again, I'm NOT comparing this to Penn State but when you see a crime or evidence of a crime, it is not up to Urban Meyer or Joe Paterno to investigate. I'm a huge fan of Nick Saban but I wouldn't want him to investigate criminal activity. This is what the police are paid to do.
  20. John, do you think that coaches should be mandated to call the police for domestic violence allegations? I am going back and forth with this and would need more facts to arrive at a conclusion, for instance; was the woman injured? Either way, this is less sickening than what happened at Penn State. It's bad but no comparison.
  21. This is not uncommon. I am not a fan of Meyer and do not in any way condone nor excuse domestic violence but this is a bad situation for all involved.
  22. That Sir, is one fantastic avatar!!!!!! Welcome to TSW!!!
  23. Absolutely 100% true. Carr was all but murdered week after week.
