  1. No sane college football fan would deny that you raise legitimate points. There are however other things to consider.... Not that you called for it in the post above but expanded playoffs would seem on paper to make things more fair, however this is football, not basketball. Just how many games do you think these kids can or should play. If 3 of 4 playoffs teams go to the title game, they will have played 15 games. Notre Dame will have played 14. Personally, I think that conference championship games should be eliminated. How many fans actually give a crap about conference championships? Alabama was the 4th seed last year and we know what happened. Should UCF have been put in that 4 slot instead of them? Seriously? College Football teams don't play equal schedules. I'm not sure that UCF would have 7 wins against Alabama's opponents. They might, but I'm not so sure. Also, who do you think is a better team, Notre Dame or Georgia? I would go with Georgia but they got beat up by LSU and lost to Alabama. Notre Dame was undefeated and does deserve to be in there imo, and I don't think they were given much of a shot before the season. I am NOT trying to be combative with this, but it is hard for me to understand exactly what you think would be a fair system. Again my friend, Alabama got in last year after a loss but they have a small fan base compared to many, many other teams. Also, UGA is better than ND imo and I'm not sure that its close. Still, Notre Dame is rightfully in the playoffs, no?
  2. Yeah, I have been a big fan of Jonah for many years. He has great technique and fast feet. Imo, he has a pretty decent floor, which I would deem to be Andy Levitre. Remember, Levitre was also LT in college and like Jonah, did not have great size. There are many here who will disagree but imho Levitre, when fully healthy; was one of the best guards we ever had. He wasn't a bruiser but he was especially gifted at and geared toward pass protection. This is what the game calls for in these times and what I can also see in Jonah. I look forward to his combine workouts, especially on the bench.
  3. If TEs interest you I would keep an eye on Jace Sternberger of Texas A&M. He was a JUCO transfer which is hard for me to understand because he is big, strong, and is pretty quick.
  4. They might, but how can one tell? They rarely play a decent opponent and when they do, they squeak out a win, right?
  5. Sure....I get it. Tell me, who does! They are one of the 4 best teams but 2 losses? I don't know...……...
  6. I was unimpressed by Oklahoma as well.
  7. That non call on Oklahoma for pass interference that just happened was a complete and utter disgrace.
  8. 2 questions if I may...... A) Exactly which OOC teams would you like them to play? B) Which powerful OOC teams do you think want to play Alabama? If the answer to these questions includes UCF, I might even jump on your bandwagon. At least Bama faces SOME good teams. Compare that to Clemson if you will and I'm sorry to whoever I offend but Notre Dame as well.
  9. This makes me proud to be a Bills Fan and a Crimson Tide Fan. I hope that he tears the NFL apart!
  10. I fully agree Promo. The last thing the Bills need to do is devote huge money to an aging running back.
  11. Agreed. Oklahoma gave up 40 or more points 5 times ( including the last 4 games) and needed overtime to beat Army. Now, OSU had some strange games too, but they gave up 40 or more only twice. Imo, on paper these teams look somewhat similar but there is NO WAY that the Sooners play a schedule that comes close to comparing with that of OSU. I admit that I have often thought that OSU gets favoritism from the media because of their large fanbase. It doesn't seem that way this year. I don't understand the appeal of Oklahoma to the committee, the networks, or the advertisers. The way it looks to me, the playoffs are (or should be) still possible for OSU but not unless the Tide beats Georgia. I don't see this as a given as so many others do. I am looking for a win but I am not certain it will happen. Good luck to both of us!!!
  12. Actually, I have held you in high regard as a poster for some time and was actually quite surprised to read such teary eyed, pathetic drivel from you, but; I look forward to talking more about football with you.
  13. Yeah, police shootings are always bad, right? Does he stand up for the people who are shot on a daily basis by criminals in Chicago? Please. [remarks about political figures excised]
  14. Before I say anything, let me make 100% clear that I am a huge, life long Alabama Fan. Were it up to me, Foster would NOT play on the Bills. Imo, he doesn't deserve it. I also would not want Kaepernick on the Bills. In fact, I would boo him at a game. You can hate me, my opinion or both. That's up to you but I have a right to an opinion. Can we agree on that? Now, as far as the Redskins, let me say the following.....I have seen every play of every game that Reuben appeared in at Alabama. If the kid had his head on straight (which he does not), he would be a superstar. The Skins have some really good players from Bama who no doubt told the GM just how talented Foster is. Go to you tube and type in Reuben Foster/Fournette, and you will see how hard he hits. He can cover, blitz, and stop the run. He is more of a LB than Kaepernick is a qb. This is why he was claimed. I agree with you that signing Foster would cost a team less money and fan support in the long run than signing Kaepernick. As a group, fans probably do despise Kaep more than Reuben, who certainly appears to be a criminal. The owners are there to make a profit. That's just the way it is. Little has changed, but if in fact there is a change, the owners were even more greedy before free agency.
  15. I agree and do however think that expanded playoffs in general would favor teams with: 1) The most depth. 2) The best coach. This would (imo) give an edge to Alabama and Ohio State. Again, what bothers me the most about expansion is the additional games. In fact, I wish they would abolish conference championship games even without expansion. Again, jmo.
  16. That is very interesting. How do you feel about this?
  17. Unless you are already counting Alabama as in the playoff (I btw do not), I am going to have to do my best Bill Lumberg and go ahead and disagree. 29-0 against 3rd ranked LSU was pretty good, especially in light of the points they scored on Saturday. But as I said above, imo OSU would be a very tough game for the Tide.
  18. Well, expanding the amount of playoff teams is a bad idea imo. Maybe if they do away with conference championships.....maybe. The teams that will play for the title this year will play 15 games. Don't you think that this is already excessive?
  19. You do make sense. If you read my post that you answered, I said that I don't understand OSU. Allow me to add that at this point, I fail to understand the entire Big 10. I am NOT talking smack to you, but as an Alabama Fan the truth is that I would welcome a playoff game against UCF. In fact, the team that I am the most concerned about is Georgia, followed by OSU. The reason for this is that from my point of view, Bama is NOT a defensive team this season. They appear to be a good defensive squad with a truly exceptional offense. UCF seems to have given up a lot of points to lower rated teams. OSU, while shaky at times, has proven that they can score. Georgia seems to be a very good and balanced team. Could UCF compete with these teams? I don't know but it is certainly possible. Would they do well against Alabama? Sorry but I cannot visualize them doing so, but I have no wish to fight with you about this. Peace, and GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Do you think that Georgia is considerably worse than last year?
  21. Georgia is tough and I know they can win, but I am having trouble figuring out how they will be able to cover our receivers. Now that Devonta Smith is healthy the Tide has 4 excellent receivers who are consistently open, a tight end who is also a deep threat, 4 top quality rbs (and at least 3 can catch), and a Heisman Trophy QB who can also run. This with a MUCH better than average offensive line. The Bulldogs are very good and we know how well coached they are, but I am looking at 31-17 Crimson Tide. Again, anything can happen.
  22. Have you ever seen him play? The kid had the potential to be an absolute pro bowl lb. He was banged up a bit but has tremendous talent and is a predator (no pun intended). That said, I am in no way sticking up for his actions. There is zero reason not to believe the police officers on the scene. He has cost himself millions of dollars and I hope he is punished by the legal system if found guilty. Sad situation. How does it feel to be dripping with jealousy? Your furniture must be completely soaked.
  23. Congrats to all Buckeye Fans! OSU is not an easy team for me to understand but they sure can score points, and in spite of the high scores and loss of Bosa; I can see some talent on their defense. I also want to welcome you to the Crimson Tide Fan Club, be it only for 1 week.
  24. Congrats once again to the Crimson Tide. Tua and the receivers really put on a clinic this afternoon. I don't know, Is there any more doubt about who deserves the Heisman Trophy?
