2019 Mock Drafts and top prospects
Bill from NYC replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
That would be a shame because we need receivers and the blocking would seem to be atrocious. -
Are you old enough to remember Marcus Spriggs or Greg Jerman? Jerman was SO bad at left tackle that I actually was worried about someone getting killed on the field.
-
Flushing has a commercial strip on 164th Street, then again; my guess is that you already knew this.

The year Levitre left it was said that he had a bad year. If he did, I strongly suspect that it was due to injury. Levitre was an excellent guard. As you might recall, I liked him in college. AL was made for the "new" passing game. He was more of a finesse blocker than a road paver and (imo) was at his best at pass protection. He played left tackle in college and didn't let us down at all on the Bills. I blew my cork when the Bills let him walk and from what I remember he wanted to stay here. And people wonder why I beat to death the Bills lack of regard for blocking! We looked OK last year on the OL (although I do wonder how much of this was because of Tyrod) and now just look at the mess we face yet again. We absolutely have to find blockers in 2019.

Are you sure the address in Flushing isn't 165th Pl.? I am thinking that 65th Pl. is too far west Jack. EDIT: Jack, I looked it up and it is in Maspeth, not Flushing. Maspeth is in Western Queens and is actually closer to the OP than is Flushing.

Sunday Morning Quarterback - college wrap
Bill from NYC replied to buffaloaggie's topic in College Football
Louisville might really be better than you think. Before the season is over, I think that they will knock off a higher ranked team (if of course they play any). Their quarterback is quite talented and the have good receivers. They even had some pass rush r33. Their biggest problem was that they couldn't cover the 4 tremendous wideouts on Alabama. They are the absolute best group of receivers I have ever seen on a college team and Tua can find these guys. A few years ago, Bama opened against USC and beat them 56-7. USC got better as the season went on. It can happen at Louisville too imo. Let's face it.....Give Coach Saban 9 months to prepare and he could probably defeat China in a ground war. -
Every team has their easy games. How many good teams will the stacked Clemson squad be playing this entire season? Even the teams with the toughest schedule face some soft competition. I think that he waited so long because he didn't want Jalen to leave. Also, Jalen has been there longer and has more friends on the team. Saban probably didn't want to alienate anybody. Tua sure did put on a show on Saturday, didn't he? He didn't miss a beat since the title game and is nothing less than spectacular.

And your favorite team is?

If you hate the Bills why are you here?

Well, McDermott passed on 2 promising QBs (to include Deshaun Watson), traded back and took a corner. True, he did get some future picks but my point remains clear. -

Why are you talking in absolutes? There is one particular poster who constantly complains about Bills Fans. I don't agree with him but this is not ALL he posts. Many of his "other" posts are (imo) intelligent and well thought. As for the fan attacks, that's up to him, no? I will take him to task once in a while but he is certainly free to post things that I don't necessarily like, isn't he? I think the Bills will not play well this season because the OL appears to really suck. One qb is a rookie, the other might be the worst in history. Perhaps even worse than Van Pelt. The basis I use for this opinion is that I have been down this road for decades. I have seen what the Bills historically do and do not concentrate much on. On the other hand, I overwhelmingly support the Josh Allen selection. Does the above meet standards? -

Just a quick reminder.....the fact that you consider a post to be "mindless drivel" doesn't make it true. Your opinions are just that. they are not all knowing proclamations. Maybe you should ask yourself if you are a fan hater. -

You should issue us posting guidelines and a link to your cell phone. This way we can run our posts by you to make sure they are OK before we click on "submit reply." After all, you deserve to be an authority figure on TSW. -
Pre Season's Over, Post Your W/L Prediction
Bill from NYC replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you think minimum 8, you are all but calling them a playoff team. This with no blocking and either a rookie, or a historically bad qb. As my man Bill Lumberg said, "I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree." -
That was a really stupid thing for Bo to do and I think that it hurt his draft position. If you look at the video, the players all seemed to have a great time at the White House this year. His idiocy did not represent the team. Because this is a passing league, the defenses are slowly getting smaller and faster. Imo, this increases the value of a big back. Remember how well Karlos performed on the Bills? I want the Bills to get better blocking and a large tailback more than I want Bo specifically.

Pre Season's Over, Post Your W/L Prediction

An optimistic 5-11. 3-13 wouldn't surprise me even a little. Sorry. -
It wouldn't surprise me. Once again, the tools he has to work with are insane and should even improve. One of the announcers said that Davonta Smith (of the OT TD catch in the title game) only caught 8 passes last season and had that many catches last night. When teams go all in on pass defense Saban will run it down their throats. The defense does still have question marks imo.
-
Did you see that freshman Waddle? I was watching him when he was lined up to return a punt. He jumped up to stretch from a standstill and it looked like his knees were over his head. Seriously. An announcer said he is the fastest player on the team and it looks as if he has moves and hands. The Tide has 4 wideouts that I know of that are off the charts great and I'm not exaggerating. There might even be more; who knows at this point? Btw, I wouldn't be even a little surprised if Jerry Jeudy turns out to be better than Calvin Ridley.

I am thrilled by the job that Virgil is doing, and; if he needs a week off I will help him out. -
2nd Update: Early 2019 mock draft
Bill from NYC replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in College Football
I think a few of those teams had a great qb, good defense and good blocking. And, I don't think that many of those dbs were top 10 picks. -
You see, I for one have always enjoyed this great site more in the offseason than I do during the regular season. In the off months, anything is possible here in our little cyber corner where we share our hopes and comradery. Having said that, this year was especially good and my thanks are in order so here we go: 1) Thank you SDS and the mods. For decades you have provided a forum for a bunch of top notch (however depressed :)) Bills Fans. Scott, you had a great vision which has meant so much to so many. Mods, you do the work and should be quite proud. Take a well deserved bow. 2) Thanks for those who indulge me in dialogue. I know that I can be opinionated and a bit stubborn, thanks for tolerating this. A special thanks to those who disagree with me and engage me in constructive dialogue. 3) Thank you to the posters who are a fountain of information and point out things that I miss. How cool is it to be able to click on a web site and have access to intricate details about players, formations, coaching strategies, etc. BADOLBILZ (and others), I tip my hat to you. 4) Thanks to all of you draftniks. This is a part of this board that is just so vital imo. I get more and better info here than I do on major media sites. Nice work!!! 5) Thank you to the many outstanding posters who I no longer see around. Lori, Simon, AKC, Petrino, Bob Lamb. Cablelady and so many others helped set the tone for us to have what we have here. My deepest regards. 6) Thanks to posters like Albany89 and others who stop back in from time to time. Your presence matters. 7) Finally, thanks to the person(s) who lobbied for a college football board. It is a good one and is getting better. I hope to see more people visit and talk about their team. God bless you all and GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do we draft with a top 5 pick next year ?
Bill from NYC replied to QBorBust2018's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point. Imho, early first round draft picks should be used on QBs, Pass rushing DEs and LTs. I think this because they are just so hard to get any other way. If the Bills pick early next season (10 or below) they would (imo) be well served to draft a pass rusher or a top LT. If none are there I would be tempted to trade the pick to a team that needs a qb and go after other positions, this; only because we already have a qb.
