Bills fall from 6th to 10th in Draft Order
Bill from NYC replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whoa!!! Nice work!!!!! I find the Colts 2018 pick quite interesting. Guards almost never go early but when they do I feel like there is a very high success rate. Now, Luck isn't getting beaten to within an inch of his life on every play and the Colts are playing much better. Once again, I am beating the drum for the Bills to draft blockers. There are some players that I really like too, such as Sweat from Miss. State but the Bills have neglected the OL for far too long. -
You are correct. It was a totally different offense. You always knew Foster had talent (and especially speed) but Ridley wasn't going to come out. And, look at the running backs and even TEs on that team. There just were not many chances for Foster. Hurts also ran much of the time and you know that Saban, although he has adapted, prefers a running game and a mistake free offense.

I don't have time to look it up right now but I recall a trade down involving Julio Jones. I'm sure there are more examples but they are generally not blockbuster deals. Edit: There were a few last year that didn't involve qbs, to include our own Edmunds. -
Once again we really need a TE

Yeah he is also a strong runner after the catch. He is another players who I would be interested in his combine numbers. Metz was great blocker. It was almost like having another Left Tackle on the field. He was also a great target in the end zone. -

That my friend would be one EXCELLENT 4th round for the Buffalo Bills football team!!! -
I'm not so sure. Lets ask BADOLBILZ what he thinks. Oh wait, he told us long ago and was shouted down!!!

What’s your definition of an alcoholic?
Bill from NYC replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
A friend of mine who went and still goes to AA told me that when one stops using alcohol, they must than deal with what he called the "ism." He implied that a personality defect caused the alcoholism. Please don't attack me for saying this whereas I don't know if it is true. I am just repeating what I was told by a person who I respect. -
OK, lets chop that down to once.

C'mon Yolo, seriously? I would rather the Tide played twice there than once against LSU at Tiger Stadium!!!

The teams in the finals would have 16 game seasons. Pros played only 14 for many years. That 1 extra game could destroy a multi-million dollar career for a student athlete, many of whom come from impoverished backgrounds. It isn't fair imo. I even think that the conference championship games are b%%^&$@#.

This would be too many games for these kids imo.

Take Your Pick - 2019 FA Wish List !!

From having watched him for many years I can tell you that TJ Yeldon has great hands out of the backfield and would be an excellent weapon for Josh. As a runner he has some speed and he is not easy to bring down. He has had his share of injuries and I wouldn't break the bank for him, but I think that he would be an asset to the Bills. -
Again, he came to Buffalo with fresh legs. He was flanked by great receivers at Bama, especially Calvin Ridley. Even the running backs (Damien Harris for one) can catch, and they even had a top flight tight end, sometimes 2. There were just so many weapons that he didn't see much action. In this sense he is still learning and a work in progress. I continue to have very high hopes for him and it looks as if he may even exceed my expectations.

2019 Mock Drafts and top prospects
Bill from NYC replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
I am not claiming to be so wise lol, but it doesn't appear that the Bills will ever value blocking. Whenever they had a quality LT he seemed to have been gone in an instant and this goes all the way back to Wolford. At this point many fans even WANT the Bills to focus on defensive backs in round 1 of this draft, which they will probably do. I like to think that the new regime wouldn't be that stupid but I don't know. They passed on 2 star QBs to trade down and draft a 1st round corner. I'm trying to be patient but McDermott is starting to wear thin on me. He reminds me too much of a clapping Jauron. -

10 picks - 0 OTs and 1 Guard.......Sounds about right for a Bills draft. That said, thanks for not tossing in a first round defensive back. -
I completely agree. If a linebacker is gifted enough he will see the field, even in this passing league. LBs Mack and Smith on the Bears are so good that it is scary. Those two are both modern LBs and throwbacks at the same time imo and worth the price of admission.

Good post as usual Virgil. I think that years ago this game would have upset me, but today it did not. He are a couple of very quick takes..... 1) I think Allen showed some good qualities today. He is more instinctive than I thought, and his arm is just tremendous. He will get better with experience IF they get him some help up all around. 2) Tre White gave up some plays today but one involved an absolutely perfect pass. He is a very good player and I think no less of him. 3) Foster had another sensational game for a UDFA!!! It is important to remember that he is getting more action with us than he did on Alabama. He too is learning but he has fresh legs and he can fly, His ceiling might just be even higher than I thought. 4) I didn't want to lose this or any other game but it really doesn't matter so much (or so I think). What matters is developing young players. Also, games like this should give Bills brass a clearer picture of who to get rid of. Speaking of which, So long Shady! 5) The worst thing about this game (imo) was that we played Jauron Ball. What was there to gain by doing so? Please, tell me!!! 6) What was worse, McDermott clapping or Bowles smiling? They both are a lot to cope with, no? 7) Thanks for your posts. I know how hard it is to do week after week. This board is better off because of what you are doing. 8) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it's 20 years of misery. It started with Marv Levy letting our great players age almost all at once and draft defensive back after first round defensive back both as coach and GM. You seem like a pretty nice guy. I have no quarrel with you personally. I don't even really care all that much that you called me out by starting a thread about me (however inappropriate). The context of your post shows that you simply don't know any better. That's cool too. If you haven't learned what the major problems with the Bills are/have been after at least 2 decades, and think that the problem is a lack of resources devoted to defensive backs, that is laughable, but again, go for it. I have no problem with you having an opinion which differs from mine. PS: You will probably get your wish in April. Chances are that the Bills will focus on DBs and RBs because this is their history. You will be SOOO happy I'm sure that you will increase your intake of illicit drugs, or at least decrease your dosage of anti-depressants. Either way, good luck! -

Which DB got burned the most today? Was it the "shut down" first round pick? You remember.....the one we took after we traded away from 2 star quarterbacks. I will be happy to talk with you more as soon as the drugs and alcohol you ingested wear off. -
Get a towel. You are dripping with jealousy!!!

I used to say the same thing John but times have changed. You see, you and I go back to the days when Right Tackles were primarily brutal run blockers and pass protection was less important. Now, it is a passing league and having a RT who excels at pass blocking is a HUGE plus for a team. The rule changes have made running the football less important. This is sad (to some) but true. I don't know anything at all about this kid Risner but if there was a player I thought would be a GREAT Right Tackle out there, I would draft him in a second. Perhaps not in the top 5 but make no mistake, the RT position means more than it used to, and I love the thought of Allen playing behind an Erik Williams or Jon Runyon style RT. I wonder how many even remember those 2 great players :) -
Thank you, and you are correct. I would even want them in the first round if we could block and catch passes. Actually I did post here several times about Wallace and was thrilled that we added him to the Bills. I mentioned how Calvin Ridley heaped huge praise upon Levi, and he practiced against him every day for quite some time.
