  1. Was he #6?
  2. Very interesting post. I have the Bama game on tape and will watch him.
  3. Bama to hire ex-Buffalo Bill as assistant. https://247sports.com/college/alabama/Article/Alabama-Football-Nick-Saban-expected-to-hire-SEC-offensive-assistant-to-coaching-staff--128088894/?fbclid=IwAR2Rw3dwTvGAnQEq6-SQTTgouO0kyvHdQ_j6hWxZKsNSZ5yDDi4M-Tsy6qE
  4. Maybe, but it will take some time. Kids with money usually don't want to play football or go into boxing, and who can blame them? Would you, with a pocket full of money, want to get hit by Khalil Mack, or punched by a young Mike Tyson? I certainly would not. I think it is impressive that the other 11 schools could field teams. Games like the ones yesterday are good for the sport. The owners are guaranteed profits like no other business that I have ever heard about. It is hard for me to imagine them letting this slip away but who knows?
  5. I knew that Jauron was a complete horror show before he ever coached a game. The 2006 draft was just so bad that it crippled the team for many years. Having said that, didn't he once try a million yard field goal that they had no chance at all of making? It might even have been in bad weather conditions. For some reason this this comes to mind but there is no solid memory. The Levy/Jauron years were just unthinkably awful.
  6. Any thoughts on Montez Sweat from Miss. St.?
  7. What about MMA? How can this even exist? In 10 years there is going to be an entire species of dangerous, brain damaged people from taking elbows to the head, and everything else they do.
  8. Yeah, that is a tough school to recruit for. Look at who they play.
  9. I fully agree John. And speaking of the Colts, they year before they drafted Peyton Manning the took Tarik Glenn (LT) in round one and Adam Meadows (RT) in round 2, and this was even before the NFL was a passing league as much as it is now. Both of these players are not mentioned as much as other great blockers but they were both sensational, durable, and as great as Peyton was he owes these guys quite a bit.
  10. I look at things a bit differently. In the decade you cite, the Bills have spent 0 first round picks on blockers. They did spend 3 second round picks (Dawkins, Kouandjio, and Glenn). The above might look OK to some however imo it is a disgrace, made worse by the fact that there were 2 rookie quarterbacks trying to learn the game behind what (most of the time) was a lousy OL. From day one I was thrilled by the Josh Allen pick. I still am but he needs protection, as well as a running game so he doesn't have to keep running himself. I think it is high time for the Bills to utilize their resources by investing in the health and development of our quarterback. I sure hope that you are right. And I like Teller, but he was a 5th round pick and yes, this is to their credit, but I wouldn't cite this as using high resources on a major need.
  11. That would be great, but the real way to get talented offensive linemen is through the draft. The Bills failure to do so is a primary cause of them being perpetual losers. The Bills just keep focusing secondary and running backs in the draft. Now, we can pretend that this isn't so, however; it is completely factual and very sad indeed.
  12. Yeah, they should have got him into "space" more often.
  13. Generally I agree Mick but when we drafted Kuondjio, he was a LT at Alabama. I posted on this board that he was the 4th or 5th best blocker that they had, and a poor selection. The RT was DJ Fluker who is still a pretty good NFL Guard. This aside, you raise a great point and I agree.
  14. Yes but neither had the "luxury" of being a good football player. They were both simply idiotic picks and to this day I believed that Mr. Wilson wanted these players because they were "flashy" and he thought that they would increase fan interest. You know, the NFL Drafts were the most under utilized thing by the Bills.
  15. It would have helped if said #9 pick was any good.
  16. It is admittedly weird, but Coach Saban is already moving to hire coaches. Coach Sunseri is a proven commodity. Yolo, do you know much about the new offensive line coach who was head coach at Rutgers? Saban likes to keep at least one coach with recruiting ties to the northeast. Minkah Fitzpatrick played high school ball in New Jersey, as did 5 star recruit Antonio Alfano (who I am hoping to see great things from).
  17. I know that there were probably dozens of valid reasons not to use him more but I used to really love watching Darrick Holmes. The s.o.b. could really motor, and he was as strong as an ox. As I recall he had some issues but he was really tough to bring down and lots of fun to watch.
  18. I don't remember your screen name on this board when that term was bandied about ad nauseum. Was this a term that was used in other media venues?
  19. He did. If you recall the black players on the Dolphins took his side and said that they did not think that Incog was a racist . In fact, he was a sort of bodyguard for the kid. I remember reading that once, Martin was getting abused on the field and Incog got involved and kicked some ass to defend him. Don't get me wrong, Richie is a hot mess but in this case I agree 100% that he got a raw deal.
  20. I think I might settle for a swap of 9 for 24, along with a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick this year and a #1 next year.
  21. Thanks, that was great research! Do you happen to know how the defenses that Clemson and Alabama faced were ranked? These things confuse me too. Army, top 30? I suppose that a lot of factors contribute to this such as TOP but I can't say I know for sure. Do you consider these ratings to be accurate?
  22. They did.....with a different quarterback. Do you like Hurts as much as Murray? And this Alabama defense, while very talented, lost a huge number of very good to excellent players to the NFL. It will happen again as it does almost every season but I think that the 2019 defense has the potential to be better than the one in 2018 by a considerable margin. What you saw this month was not an ordinary defense by Alabama standards.
  23. Doc, there were much better players at skill positions when he was there, and Saban used to favor the running game.
  24. It wouldn't surprise me. Does Oklahoma play even 1 team with a decent defense? I wish him well but his transfer was expected and might even help the team in an ideal setting. They have 2 incoming freshmen at the qb position, both of whom have big time credentials. It would be great to see them get some playing time in 2019.
