  1. It might really be less relevant as well. Brady had other targets to include Gronk, a good running game and of course, a strong OL. He would be prone to getting less chances under these conditions, no? Don't get me wrong.....I do not make a case that he was great. I do however think that the poster who said that those complaining about Hogan leaving Buffalo were disgusted by the incompetence of Whaley was correct. Put me in that crew.
  2. Was it his fault that he didn't have a decent QB throwing him the ball? Hogan wasn't a great receiver but a player of his caliber is useful. He certainly wasn't a bad player.
  3. I am humbled by all of this publicity. Oh they were good, but our won/loss record was not. We were a revolving door for 1st round DBs as far back as Clements (who was also very good), or even T.Smith. Now we have a quarterback, added blockers, and yes, hopefully we will add some more.
  4. I was at that game. That ended the game and the stadium erupted. People were falling down in the stands. I wound up on the ground with old ladies on top of me. To this day I think that it was meant to be a handoff and was really a broken play during which Flutie improvised. Pat Williams had a key sack late in the game. I think that it was the most exciting game that I ever attended. There was also another Flutie play that sticks out.....many, many years ago. Flutie threw a block on a Monday Night Game and wiped some huge guy out. The Bills players on the sideline were confused and laughing. The opposing team was getting all over the guy who took the hit. They might have been playing New England but I can't fully recall. Didn't we actually lose that game to Miami? As I recall Losman couldn't complete a first down and kill the clock for much of the 2nd half and blew the game. Wow, was he a disaster or what?
  5. Actually, I became a Bama Fan around 1964. The surrounding players are not what makes it hard to rate Bama players. Two, or even 3 other factors make it tough to rate them, at least for me: 1) For Bills Fans, lets call it the "Mike Williams" factor. Some of these kids are just so big and strong at their college positions, they are completely overpower their opponents but in the pros, everybody is big, strong, and fast. 2) The system is just that good CB. I heard a Bama player once say that he played on 3 NFL teams and the Saban defensive scheme was MUCH harder than any of them. I believe him. 3) Some kids get away from Saban and go nuts. Williams will not be one of these guys, nor will Jacobs. In fact, I don't expect this to happen this season at all. The last guy to go wild was Reuben Foster. CB, this kid could be the best LB in the NFL. He is mega-talented and an absolute predator but it won't do him any good if he is a criminal. Do keep an eye on OLB Christian Miller. He just kept getting better and he is very smart. You can see him sack Kyler Murray in the bowl game on you tube. Williams and Damien Harris are also really smart kids. That said, wait until the 2020 draft!
  6. I agree, but I think that Williams is a low risk pick. Actually I have not had a bad db tantrum in some time. I was semi-under control even when they stupidly walked away from Mahomes and Watson and took a corner.
  7. I think that as a rule, teams should draft players in round 1 who they would want to re-sign if they play very well. For instance, the Giants did not re-sign Landon Collins, thinking that the cost would be too high for a safety. This was a smart move imo. As for Williams, I don't know if Williams is viewed as "elite" by the Bills but if he is, they would be correct to ***** him right up imo. If they project him to Guard, it becomes a tougher call to make. I happen to believe that Guards are becoming more important, but hey, this is jmo. Defenses are getting smaller and there seems to be more pass rush coming up the middle in the NFL. Even more important.....Josh needs protection. I have mentioned numerous times that the Colts drafted Tarik Glenn and Adam Meadows (2 elite OTs) the year before they took Manning. We absolutely MUST protect Allen. Pass protection and a better running game will do both.
  8. Sure, let's keep grabbing dbs and rbs in round 1. It sure has worked so far lol!!! It only took us 30 or so years to draft a QB with out actual assigned 1st round pick (or trade up). What was the rush, right?
  9. I think that this is at least partially because it costs the same amount to apply the franchise tag to a Guard as it does to tag a Tackle. Am I correct? Imo having a very good Guard at a bargain price for 5 years is a great thing. That said, #9 could be a bit early. I guess that much depends on the quality of the draft. Imo this one is quite average. How about you?
  10. This is 100% accurate. Things might change (sometimes people do when given 25 million or so) but Quinnen has never had any reported personality issues that I know of and I follow the team. He seems like a great kid. Imo Dareus was a lot heavier than Quinnen and harder to move off of scrimmage. Quinnen is quicker and faster. He came to Alabama at 265 lbs. It is important to remember that Quinnen sat for a long time behind great players and really only has one year as a starter, but it was an extremely good one. The kid is top notch but I must admit that I have seen him get tired. Count me as one of the few who thinks that he will be there at #9.
  11. They are my other candidate to tank this season. This pick makes sense.
  12. With the 13th selection, I will surprise you all lol and select Jonah Williams - OT - from the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Although I think that he can play tackle, I project him to LG, and a great one at that. My biggest influence in making this selection was the "Tanking for Tua" factor. The year before the Colts got Peyton Manning, they drafted Tarik Glenn and Adam Meadows at #1 and #2. Miami, imo, will be lucky to win 3 games next season. Might as well bolster the offensive line.
  13. BB, as I think that you know, I am a life long Crimson Tide Fan. The Tide has 3 receivers who will have completed their junior year and will be draft eligible: 1) Jerry Jeudy At the rate he is going, he could easily be a top 10 pick. Picture Ridley x2. He is fast, impossible to cover, and has great hands, but: what really makes him stand out to me is his coordination. The kid is simply great. 2) Henry Ruggs Not a huge kid but he has one of the fastest 40 times in history. He also has great hands and moves. Not enough? He even blocks! You like Foster? This kid blows him away. 3) Devonta Smith He would be a well kept secret were it not for his catch for the title vs. Georgia. This kid runs precise routes and is always open. He also might have the best hands on the team. Imagine Josh Allen, with his tremendous skills, throwing to ANY of these kids!!!!! I dream of this BB. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I would welcome a trade down that focuses on the Bills getting and extra 1st round pick in 2020. BB, imo the 2020 draft could put this team over the top if it isn't bungled.
  15. There is zero doubt that watching Josh run is fun and very exciting, and; he has freakish talent. I was behind this pick from day 1. The thing is, the thrills I get from these great plays would pale in comparison to the anguish that I would feel if he got a serious injury because he had to run. He is a bigger target than Tyrod and many defenders, rule changes and all, have super human strength and are predators. I don't want him to forego the run entirely. It is way too valuable a weapon to not ever use. I just don't want him to have to run as often. His arm is also freakish.
  16. This is why we need to draft good blockers. Over the years I have not seen a huge amount of great blockers acquired by trade (unless you want to count the Bills trading HOF Jason Peters) or free agency. I am pretty sure our OL will be better this year, but they still need to dedicate early resources in he draft to give Josh Allen the protection he requires and deserves. What I don't want to see is Josh having to run for huge yardage. RBs don't last so I can't expect Josh to last if he is our leading rusher.
  17. Yes it would seem so, let alone at nose.
  18. Was that flag football or volleyball? Either way, the kid was on his way to being a great running back. Very sad.
  19. I still want the Bills to utilize draft resources on blocking, but it is hard to knock these deals that don't lock us in for years.
  20. Agreed. Even if Nsekhe turns out to be a very good backup, his deal is not excessive imo.
  21. You are correct. He came to Alabama at 265 pounds.
  22. This was a brave prediction, thanks. You might very well be right too but imo the Cards would be nuts to not draft him. Watch their attendance increase, and all that goes along with it (parking, beer, food, jerseys, etc). This is pure profit for an owner because the TV contract covers their payroll and operating expenses. Much of this is also in cash (not to imply that anyone would cheat on their taxes mind you lol). I completely expect Murray to go at #1 whether he deserves to or not.
  23. If we trade down I hope that we add picks for 2020.
