RD 3, Pick 74: RB Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic

Here we go....."really something in the open field." Tell me, how many players are bad in the open field? "Space" was the word that was frequently used here. Spiller was said to be "good in space." In reality, the people who drafted him at #9 were in outer space. And as far as pure game speed, really? The fastest ever? There are dozens who were faster and thousands who were better players. He was not going to be at or near the "top" at anything except the unspeakably horrid waste of a draft pick list but of course, this is jmo. -
Two Reason For Hope No One Is Talking About.

Lets also remember Derrick Henry and his 238 yard/4TD game. This game was against the Jags and he was knocking them down like bowling pins and shaking off tacklers. I am not saying that he did this every week but I do speculate that he would come close to it if defenses were not addressing him. A power running game (and of course blocking) takes untold pressure off of a QB, especially a young one. I hope that we have one this season. PS: Imagine how a healthy Derrick Henry would do on the Bills!!! -

I am not feeling the above in this thread. Nobody said that run stuffing LBs are more important that pass defending LBs. Even in college the pass defending LB is more important. The problem is that those guys tend to be smaller and this can make life easier for big, strong backs. Other teams have started to notice this. This btw can actually help the Bills. Gore is very strong and Yelden has some power as well. The Bills can't always be on the losing end of the power game and be successful in Buffalo imo, and it seems that they recognize this. -
Does anyone here not have central AC?
Bill from NYC replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The food was good and the service was very friendly. I was not unhappy at all and Williamsville is a wonderful town. I have not been to WNY for a while and this trip reminded me of why I like it so much. -

We have been posting on this site for just so many years. We never met at RWS but I always sensed that you were a smart guy. Your post is evidence of this. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Funny stuff! My advice is to let her do exactly as she pleases. If she suggests that you go to a knitting party at her mother's house on Super Bowl Sunday, go for it. With young kids, divorces cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Trust me. And while anything can still happen, at least you will have done your part to make things work for as long as possible. Besides, she also sounds like a good mom and a nice person. -

I spent July 6-9 in Williamsville NY. We visited Niagara Falls. The AC was on in my room the entire time. In fact, a restaurant that we went to on Main Street was so hot we had to move to a table away from the window. Living down state, AC is an absolute must. I would be absolutely miserable without it but like I say, I would totally need it up in Buffalo as well. -

SI very early 2020 mock draft
Bill from NYC replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even at 9-7, trading up might really not be necessary in the 2020 draft. Alabama has no less than 3 splendid receivers and from what I understand there are lots of other top notch wide receivers that will be draft eligible. This might be the best draft for wide receivers that I have ever seen, or so it would seem. -

Not necessarily. There is always the chance of injury which of course we also don't hope for. I am hoping for lots of wins and Devonta Smith late in round 1. -

If the Bills were to draft Jeudy, you would soon be one of the happiest people on the planet. -
NFL.com ranks Top 25 QB's of All Time: Jim Kelly #21
Bill from NYC replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree and disagree. Marino threw 40 yard square outs. I saw him throw one at RWS. We can hate him all we want but the guy was incredible and an all time great.. Elway was a mega talented QB who was one of the best athletes to ever play. A few QBs who could throw 65 or 70 yard strikes got carried away and took to many risks. Elway fell into that category for a while. Imo he was a better QB when he learned to mix it up more and run the ball with Terrell Davis. He was top 10 imo. -

He was as tough as nails but I am sure that he would readily admit that he should have taken better care of himself. And do let me add that I am NOT judging him. Who knows how I would have acted having been in his situation. -

Nice take 33. I never thought of it in that context. Sorry, but I was never a huge fan of Levy. He was great at soothing egos and that was important, but I think he left a lot to be desired as a football strategist and I am being kind. -

And in a very classy move by Coach Gibbs, the Skins downed the ball down deep in our territory at the end of that game. -
When Foster was at Bama, Jalen Hurts was the QB. Jalen is a decent (not great) passer. Calvin Ridley was the primary receiver and was usually open by a mile, even against top SEC secondaries. Additionally, the Tide had very good blockers, mega talented TEs, and a stable full of running backs. Now toss in an injury or 2 and Foster wasn't going to get many snaps. Given the above, the fact that every single team passed on him was a surprise to many, but not completely shocking. When the Bills picked up Foster and Wallace, a few of us here who are Alabama Fans were posting that these were good players. Others said no which is no big deal. Time and again I have posted the names of players I was completely wrong about (Rob Johnson leading the parade). I suggest that you tape an Alabama game or 2 this season if for no other reason (and there are plenty), to watch their wide receivers. If you do, be sure to let me know what you think.

CB he wasn't useless at Bama. He was surrounded by superstars and it was hard for him to get the ball. If I recall correctly there were also some injuries and remember, until Tua came along Bama was primarily a running team (with 1 great receiver) for many years. I am all for keeping Foster unless a team was offering up a 1st round (or perhaps a 2nd) which is not going to happen, and this only because the 2020 draft is just chock full of receivers like we haven't seen in years. Imo there are 3 draft eligible wrs next year on Alabama who are better than Foster. Trust me on this one.

I still believe that the problem with that team was blocking. When teams would keep Flutie in the pocket our OL wasn't strong enough to run successfully, or to hold off the oncoming pass rush. It was as if the team out and out refused to provide blocking, opting mostly for defensive backs and running backs. Flutie was good at masking this deficiency but the better coaches were able to exploit it. I looked at pro football reference and checked out the Bills rosters from the Flutie years and the OL had holes big enough to drive a train through. I will never, ever understand how so many football professionals were just so neglectful and even stupid.
