Edmunds, Oliver & Morse are a great foundation
Bill from NYC replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey, GREAT to hear from you Brother! Did you like Cody Ford coming out of Oklahoma? Others balked at this selection but I happened to like it (surprised?). I think that his development will mean a great deal to this team. -

They will have every opportunity to build a great team but we have seen teams with a similar opportunity not do so well. Thanks for the link! -
Mutiny in Miami after Blow out Loss

Do we know many picks do they have in 2020? I expect it to be the best draft in years. -

9/8 Bills at Jets Second Half Thread
Bill from NYC replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It really is painful. -
I have been called a lot worse and would tend to not care, but it was absolutely meant as a racial slur. Imo this is the issue, not how much it would bother me being called a name. If it can be proven (witnesses, etc.) that he did use a racial slur and threaten violence, my guess is that this has happened before in the NFL, and I can think of no reason why AB should be punished more or less than other offenders. I'm not sure how anybody could feel any different.

Davonta Smith imo, is shockingly good. He does not have blinding speed but he is consistently open and makes catches while completely horizontal. Alabama defenders who practiced against him every day were talking about his skills BEFORE the winning catch against Georgia in the 2018 title game as a freshman. Coming into that game he only had 7 receptions. He was hurt part of last season but was a major contributor when he returned. Remember who he plays for and with. It isn't easy to put up gaudy numbers when you are playing opposite, Jeudy, Ruggs, and sophomore Jaylen Waddle who is also a GREAT receiver, and; Saban makes sure his RBs get plenty of carries. He even seems to want the team to run more this year, not less. If this kid stays healthy and was drafted by the Bills I think each and every fan would be thrilled by his play week after week, but of course I am not a scout. Jmo.

Oh yeah.....but Jalen Waddle is only a sophomore. If healthy, he too will be a bona fide superstar. He is actually faster than Jeudy. Henry Ruggs is faster than all of them (by a step.....he and Waddle had a race) and could possibly the fastest kid in the NCAA. Do watch Davonta Smith (#6). He will probably be the "sleeper" of the group. The kid is going to be a smashing success in the NFL imo if he can stay healthy.

Zeke 6 years $90 millionw/ $50 mil guarenteed

Interesting idea. I wonder if this would even change the way some coaches approach the games. If Ralph was the owner, I really don't think he would risk paying out the extra money. -
Truly New Period For Bills With Shady Gone

That would not surprise me. Others disagree but I think it was a very stupid trade under the circumstances. -
Truly New Period For Bills With Shady Gone

I fully agree. Just another case of a player who was "good" but didn't result in all that many wins, AND he is an old running back. This imo is not a recipe for success or a constructive place to shell out the big bucks. It was time for him to go and for the Bills to spend more wisely. I do agree Promo and even if he did become our "face," how many games did we win? There are younger, cheaper players who I would rather have on the Bills at this point in time. -
All I know is something, like a bird within her sang, All I know she sang a little while, and then flew off. Tell me....all that you know, I'll show you, Snow and rain.

I am thinking that few if any of you saw it but I'm going to run with "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn." Supposedly it is based on a true story (the author is one of the characters), and the book and movie are said to depict the struggles and poverty of the "lower class" in that era of New York City.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Let the Games Begin
Bill from NYC replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously, we are either going to make the playoffs or not. McDermott has been here long enough for the Bills to be capable of having a winning record in a not so strong division. Injuries are another matter but if Josh stays healthy and we can't play well, I think that it is time to take a close look at McBeane and the "process." Jmo. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Let the Games Begin

The dialogue between BV and you was excellent; thank you both for this. I do however suspect that you are wrong wrt the last sentence. Imo, if the Bills are any good at all, they should win AT LEAST 4 divisional games, and I almost typed 5. Brady is great, blah blah blah but he is also 80 years old. As one ages, injuries are more frequent and they linger. The Jets seem to lack defense and their QB is as young as ours. The Dolphins are intentionally tanking the season imo. The above should leave the door open for 10 or more wins with a healthy Josh Allen. Will they win 10? None of us know but at some point we need to see results from this "process" and make/hear less excuses. Jmo. -
The good news is that both ILBs did a very good job in their opening game, considering that the Tide lost both starters. Both are freshman and HUGE hitters. In the "more of the same" department, Jerry Jeudy was off the charts great. He was making moves after the catch that I have never seen before. If this kid can stay healthy he is going to rip the NFL corners apart. Yes, he is THAT good. And again, keep an eye on Devonta Smith. I get the feeling that he will be there when the Bills draft, but only because this is a totally outstanding group of WRs coming out in 2020.

Initially I thought this, but; it was as if he continued to develop and improve for years. I can only imagine how good he would have been had he been surrounded by better players, or even if his teams had better offenses to give the defense a break.

OK, sure. I am going to let it die. I don't want to receive warning points, and/or a vicious verbal warning from one of the mods.

Never mind Coach. I accept your slur and will not respond. Go ahead, make this thread about politics and insults. You are probably very frustrated, but I have always looked forward to and respected your posts about and knowledge of football. Sorry about that.

Do you think that politics belong in this thread, or are you really just trying to bait me into a fruitless argument?
-
Btw, this is a great thread Virgil!!!! Thanks. I hope that it doesn't get tarnished by lame political rants.
