  1. In retrospect, he was a very good player but a poor draft choice. I wanted Marcel to do well as much as anyone on this board. And yes, he was misused by Rex, who had him in coverage, or even standing still and jumping around like a useless 350 pound penguin. It was disgraceful. But, the truth is; many people are softened by money. If I had 50 million dollars in my pocket, I can't say for sure I would want to get together with a bunch of violent genetic mutants, play professional football, and suffer life long serious injuries. The man has many serious problems that I hope he solves. He never was a bad guy. I don't want to imply that the weed in itself was bad either. No, it was/is the lack of discipline. He did what he had to do under Coach Saban to get through and make the money. In the NFL you are pretty much on your own and are treated like an adult. Marcel, with his emotional problems from a life too tough for many of us to imagine, was clearly not ready for this. I hope he has some money left, gets therapy, and has a happy life. Again, Marcel Dareus is not a bad guy. No way.
  2. We don't make a party out of lovin', We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo. We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy, Like the hippies out in San Francisco do. I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee, A place where even squares can have a ball. We still wave Old Glory down by the courthouse, White Lightnin's still, the biggest thrill of all.
  3. Gotta find a woman be good to me, Won't hide my liquor, try to serve me tea. Cause I'm a stone jack baller and my heart is true, And I'll give everything that I got to you, Yes I will.
  4. I don't think that too many people understand how good this kid is. 11 catches/273 yds./5 TDs.....in 1 game!!! He has the best hands on the best receiving corps perhaps in the history of college football.
  5. Absolutely CB. I could write a list of players from the past who were actually more vicious than Burfict. Seriously.
  6. Half-step Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo Hello baby, I'm gone, goodbye Half a cup of rock and rye Farewell to you old southern sky I'm on my way, on my way
  7. Actually I do miss Jordan Mills. I also miss my last dental implant.
  8. In my best Bill Lumberg imitation, I am going to have to go ahead and disagree.
  9. This was a tough game to write about. Essentially, our young, inexperienced, talented QB had a horrible game and then got hurt against the best team in football. There were a couple of bright and not so bright spots along the way, but the above is what happened. No need for fans to panic imo.
  10. There are just so many receivers in this draft that I don't think that a trade of this magnitude will be necessary. Jmo. See my post above.....
  11. I hope that Ohio State advances to the #1 slot after Clemson had to hang on for a 1 point win over North Carolina.
  12. For a long time I have been talking up Davonta Smith from the Crimson Tide. Well yesterday (9/28/19) these were his stats: 11 receptions 274 yards 5 touchdowns The kid is tremendous but few people talk much about him. I have a feeling that they will now.
  13. The above was a bit too all inclusive for me to come up with a pertinent remark, but I do say that I enjoy and appreciate your posts and have done so for years.
  14. Why? Do you really think that teams are lining up to play Alabama? Seriously?
  15. I'm sorry but I am missing your point.
  16. And like Josh, he needs to get through his rookie season in good health (despite a weak OL). I for one did not understand the whining of the Giant fans when he was drafted. If a team thinks that a QB is that good, drafting him is the right thing to do.
  17. I don't hate any team or fans as a group, but I pity the players on Tampa Bay. When they were on Hard Knocks, I found Winston to be one of the most annoying people that I ever listened to.
  18. This is horrible, devastating news. May God rest the soul of this genius.
  19. And the ending was also superb. He wasn't letting it go. I met dozens and dozens of guys like him over the course of my life and got along fine with 99% of them.
  20. That was the absolute best. My favorite part was his reaction when he heard the sirens. That man is freaking awesome!!!
  21. I once saw the Kinks practicing in the old Felt Forum before a concert at Madison Square Garden. There was nobody in there except the Kinks, me, and a promoter named Ron Delsener who was a wild guy indeed.
  22. At the concert he did a little Blind Faith, a little Spencer Davis, some solo, and lots of Traffic. The show was way better than I expected and my hopes were high. He was stunningly great.
  23. I saw Winwood at Foxwoods 2 years ago. He sounded as good as he did in the 70s. The man is a great singer and a great musician.
  24. Counting stars by candlelight, all are dim but one is bright, the spiral light of Venus, rising first and shining best. On, from the northwest corner of a brand new crescent moon, While crickets and cicadas sing, a very different tune..... Terrapin Station.
  25. It isn't just speed Yolo. Georgia is very good. Their offensive linemen are fierce and huge. Few if any teams will be able to play well against them. Fromm is a very smart QB with very good receivers, obviously solid protection, and a fine ground game. Obviously I am not a ND Fan but they gave Georgia all they could handle. Their defense gave all they had against this monster offense. Georgia is right in the running for the title imo. ND came within 6 on the road. ND is good and MUCH better than I thought. Jmo.
