Despite being criticized last year for "thinking that I am a scout" lol, i do plan to do my usual post on Alabama draft eligible players. Sneak Preview: Safety Malachi Moore is a VERY good player. If he was more durable I would classify him as great. The good news is that he hits like a linebacker. The bad news is that he hits like a linebacker and isn't really big or durable enough to do so. This kid is great in coverage and the run and he is very smart. If he goes in round two or three and stays healthy, he will be a star and make a team very happy. Just my non-scout opinion.

Sadly you are not wrong, although I am better than I used to be because I am used to it. In 2022 I was in Vegas for the draft (by mistake mind you). I made the reservations way in advance. We were in a lounge at New York, New York waiting for a table at Gallaghers and watching the draft. I told my wife they would draft a corner, but I didn't even think that they would trade up for one. She said, "I'm so sorry Honey." I was not about to lose it in front of her, and it was the best steak of my entire life. Now, no move that McDermott makes will surprise me. I give him a 90% chance of drafting a first round corner. If not, probably a safety.

It is easy to blame the Elam trade up and selection on Beane, but who was a defensive coach for many years, McDermott or Beane? Who knows the complexities of playing cornerback, McDermott or Beane? I am far less critical of McDermott as a coach than I once was. I do not blame him for having lost the Taylor Swift playoff game. It was stolen imo. That said, this was not his first round one cornerback fiasco. He passed on Mahomes to draft a corner 17 picks later (and was undercompensated for doing so). In 2022 he not only passed on several very good players, he actually traded UP to do so and draft Elam. It is seemingly easier to blame Beame for these debacles, but McDermott is clearly at fault imo. He is a better coach than I originally thought but he has far too much power in the organization and should stick primarily to coaching, not team building, which he seems to be unsuited for. Jmo.

Mama, put my guns in the ground I can't shoot them anymore That cold black cloud is comin' around And I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door

George Karlaftis was also there, but who needs Pro Bowl blockers and fine pass rushers when you have a chance to trade UP for a corner? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Karlaftis

The amazing thing about this situation is that the Bills actually traded UP in round one to draft this cornerback. Then again, maybe it wasn't so amazing. Pitiful nonetheless. https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-jump-into-round-one-trade-frenzy-to-land-cb-kaiir-elam

Five years ago today - the shut down started
Bill from NYC replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall
I fully agree. I would expand on it but it would get political and I don't want to piss off @Simon, and I swore off the Politics Board some time ago. -
Joey Bosa signs with Buffalo. 1 year, $12.6 million
Bill from NYC replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not so sure. Times have really changed. That deal is now considered cheap. Decades ago, when we signed the great Bryce Paup, iirc he got 3 years for 7.5 million. That was considered good money in those days. This contract could turn out to be a bargain of sorts. Let's hope! -
If it seems your friends desert you There's somebody thinking of you I'm the one who'll never hurt you Maybe that's because I love you Call me, don't be afraid, you can call me Maybe it's late, but you call me Tell me, and I'll be around

Not enough emphasis on defense. We should draft defensive backs with the first four picks at the very least, and trading away picks to our rivals should not be ruled out, as long as we can get secondary help. Trading up for dbs would be a great option. Also, why waste a 6th round pick on a receiver? There is zero reason to make life easier for Josh Allen.

Eagles reset RB market, extend Barkley.
Bill from NYC replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Very smart move by a very smart GM. Barkley is on a team chock full of GREAT receivers, all of whom draw defenders away for the LOS. Barkley is such a sensenational back that he draws coverage away from the receiving corps. Now, add in the fact that they have the best OL in the NFL and you have a scoring machine, this with a very good, but non-superstar quarterback. The OL is SO good that on one 'tush push" play, OG Landon Dickerson pushed three yards beyond scrimage for an easy TD against the Chiefs. The deal is only for two years and most likely won't be renewed. Normally I would not like giving this kind of contract to a running back. In this case I can't find any fault in doing so. -

Packers open to trading CB Jaire Alexander
Bill from NYC replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we should offer this season's 1st and 2nd round picks, and throw in a #2 from next year for good measure. I mean, how could we go wrong? You can't have too many corners. Just ask Marv Levy. -
And after the love is gone How could you lead me on? And not let me stay around After the love is gone What used to be right is wrong Can love that's lost be found?

Wonderful advice. Sadly, most people do not know these truths.

Bill from NYC replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks for your work!!! I will however say that if Jihad Campbell lasts until #48, lots of teams will be very sorry. This is one kid who vever stopped improving. -
I don't mind when the time, sets the sun to the moon I just don't want to be lonely Let the stairs find you there, at the end of the room I just don't want to be lonely I'd rather be loved and needed Depended on to give a love I can't give When you're gone, when you're gone I just don't want to be lonely I'd just rather be loved

Langston Walker was a bad RT. Dockery was flat out terrible. I remember once the Bills were playing in the mud. The players were filthy except Walker. His uniform looked like it was dry cleaned. Walker even had some sort of weird TV video he would do. Dockery was much like Melvin Fowler. The both came in to a horrid Bills OL as free agents, and both looked as if they could play, but they stunk up the field.
