College Admission Scandals Have Been Going on Forever
Bill from NYC replied to Irv's topic in Off the Wall Archives
But Tom in federal law, does one have to be a public servant to take a bribe as is the case in NYS Law? If so, I would love to be her lawyer. USC is a private school. -

OK, so we are not talking about bribery? -

I hear ya but from what I understand, this took place at USC, a private school, no? I'm not a lawyer (my daughter and son in-law are) but I am thinking that the intent was simply admission to a private school. I know that virtually every school gets some federal funding too, but so do folks on social security. Like I said, I don't know enough about the case but I fail to see a bribe here. Edit: My big tip at a bar could be to encourage free drinks, which would be at the expense of the bar. Confusing but interesting stuff. -
Yeah, this thread brings back some great songs/lyrics. Go see Winwood when he comes around. He sounds like he did 50 years ago.

Do forgive me but I didn't read the entire thread. The premise of this thing is bogus imo. The person who was "bribed" was NOT a public servant. I don't know the federal law but in NY, only a public servant can be guilty of bribe receiving. It would appear that the people involved would have the resources to take this to the Supreme Court and would win by perhaps even a 9-0 decision. If not, will bartenders be arrested for getting bigger tips for faster service? Or a maître d in a restaurant for providing a better table? Jmo but I think that the govt. will either drop or lose this case. Edit: Of course the person who received the money should be fired. -
Let's get AJ Green

This is just so true. I have never seen a draft with so many top receivers. From what I heard, Davonta Smith was told that he would probably be a 2nd round pick. I know how good that kid is and cannot comprehend how this is true, but it must be the reason that he stayed in school. -
Sitting in a transit all night long, Playing clubs and rocking right on. The road's much too long since I've been wasting my time, Wish I was home again sipping my wine. And I'm gone, gone, gone, I don't care. Cause I'm gone, gone, gone. I don't care, it's where I'm from, I'm on the road again.

Seems I got to have a, change of scene. Cause every night I have the, strangest dream. Imprisoned by the way it could have been, Left here on my own or so it seems. I got to leave before I start to scream, But someone's locked the door and took the key. You feelin' alright? I'm not feelin' too good myself.

Tell me lies later, come and see me I'll be around for a while. I am lonely but you can free me All in the way that you smile Tell me why, tell me why Is it hard to make arrangements with yourself, When you're old enough to repay but young enough to sell?

The wheel is turning and you can't slow down, You can't let go and you can't hold on You can't go back and you can't stand still, If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will. Won't you try just a little bit harder? Couldn't you try just a little bit more?

Probably. Remember, Mac is coming back and they signed Bryce Young. Did you see him on Saturday? He looks like Kyler Murray. The kid has every tool and is a total 5 star just like Tua was. He also seems very smart. We both know that anything can happen (Antonio Alfano) but this kid looks like a superstar. It wouldn't surprise me if his brother does leave.

What we do here just so often is blame coaches and/or the "scheme" rather than the players. It is simple and painless to do. It is easy to point out our perceived weaknesses of Daboll for sure. My question to you would be: What other OC would have taken this particular team to greater heights? This was the best Bills team in many years. That said, Daboll had an offense with a very young QB from a small college who lacked tools (although the blocking was much better). With this he won 10 games. I am thinking that this might be just a bit of an accomplishment. We have 90 mil. in cap space and a draft full of receivers. The Bills can be great in 2020 with or without Daboll. Of course, jmo.

OK great. You can issue a me a vicious verbal warning instead. First, please allow me to brace myself.

OK, do you want to go ahead and give him a vicious verbal warning? ??

I am relatively sure that Virgil didn't mean the comment that you referenced to be taken in the literal sense. He puts an awful lot into being a Bills Fan and this loss obviously took a ton out of him. I'm thinking that almost everyone here has suffered the "Bills Blues" at some point, if not quite often lol. We are only here because we are fanatics to some degree. Virgil will be fine.
