Why? Didn't you devote a thread, a signature, and countless posts signing the praises of social distancing? That isn't hypothetical, it is fact. MAYBE you think it is just fine for police officers to be physically accosted by radicals of a particular political persuasion. Notice I said "Maybe." I do not, but I am also NOT glad that he fell and sustained injury. I do however think that if we give it our all, pull ourselves up from our bootstraps, and try to put this behind us, the world might just recover from the sad incident in Buffalo. This incident does NOT compare to the disgraceful, evil event in Minnesota, even if someone wants it to. EDIT: And btw, I do NOT know exactly what I would have done in that situation. There is little time to decide. I can tell you that I could have shot several people and been 100%justified and did not. Something inside told me that I had a little more time. I will not go into details. You probably don't understand and how could you, but; in some circumstances there are only seconds, if that, to make a decision. It also btw looked as if they were ordered by a superior officer to move along. Was the medical team in the rear? I don't know, do you? How long did he have to wait for medical attention? I really do think that all of us need more information, and that it will come out. -

By the way, they were also handed 50 dollar debit cards, which they quickly used on cigarettes and beer. This prompted community complaints but believe it or not, on this issue I sided with the criminals lol. I mean seriously, did folks think that they were going to buy bibles? They were given the cards and this means that the cards were their property. NY is in very sad shape imo. -
You say that once knew for sure But now you're walkin' into shore to wonder* The more you learn the less you know The more you move the more you go to nowhere* You ask a bird as she flies by Just where she's at she says, where the wind blows* Ask her by that what she means She says she doesn't know But as she flew away she seemed to say The wind is love, is the wind Wind is my love Who knows the wind Who knows my love Where blows the wind The wind is my love

I don't really appreciate your tone. "No level?" I slammed the cops in Minnesota in post after post. What should I do? Fly out there and kill them? They truly hurt a country and people will suffer. This both infuriates me and breaks my heart. I am sorry if problems that you had over the course of your life did lead to less than pleasant interactions with police from around the country, and hope that you have turned things around now that you have advanced in age. If you make it to 75, maybe you can charge into a touch a few riot police officers during a pandemic. You will be "no threat" lol. Don't worry about social distancing, and try not to trip. -

How is this for starters? https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2020/06/11/nypd-latest-crime-statistics- Were you being serious? What do you think is happening in NYC and around the country right now? Communists, anarchists, and just plain criminals have been given a green light by Mayor Wilhelm and Adolph Cuomo to loot. Remember, the dems in NYS recently enacted "bail reform." Did you really not know about this? They emptied out the jails (to include sex offenders) BEFORE the riots, and issued them Dunkin' Donuts gift cards and Met Tickets. Some were even put up in fancy hotels to keep them safe from covid19. Even before the riots they were getting re-arrested right and left. I am really not being snide HBF. Forgive me if I sound as such, but; are you telling me that you doubt that crime is up in NY? -

OK, but does the above excuse Obama? Look at the state of VA if you will. Dems (blackface wearing but still dems mind you) control both state houses and the governor's mansion. Why are those confederate monuments still standing? My point is there is hypocrisy on both sides. -

First of all, anything is possible. He could have been carrying a concealed weapon. Was it likely? No, but he did charge into moving riot police. Have you ever done this? Also Brian, it isn't a matter of expectation. I am merely saying that it is not beyond the realm of possibility. I learned from talking to you that you have lived a life of many different experiences (some perhaps out of the "ordinary" for lack of a better word) and experienced some things that were a bit unusual. My life has taught me that things I thought were barely possible sometimes did occur. The above is not to say that I am glad that this person was injured, but approaching riot police actually imposing a government mandated curfew? I don't know, maybe he needs a new hobby. -

I would not believe or disbelieve her without a complete investigation, to include her past performance/incidents. She had 19 years on the job. One would think that terminating her would not be easy. I don't know anything about her, or this case, and frankly I doubt if you do either. Were there any witnesses? How was this case decided and by who? Does she have a good or poor disciplinary record? Any psych referrals? Was there an arbitrator? A judge? Even the person who was arrested is/was a potential witness. In summary, I repeat; I do not automatically disbelieve her but I think to jump on her side not knowing what happened would also be a big mistake. I'm sorry that you feel this way. -

I also want to add that sometimes, the guy you let go who passes the red light could turn out to be drunk when you encounter him, and might not feel like being arrested. This of course would require the use of some kind of force. Picture you and your partner alone at 2 AM. You see a car pass a red light and nobody is around. Is the driver intox? Maybe. Do you want to find out during these times? Maybe not, especially if you have your "numbers." I am just trying to paint a realistic situation and again, I think that ultimately, the public will suffer more than police officers will. The entire situation just sucks. -

Thanks. I have never seen a police officer turn his or her back on a felony in progress. Of course this does not mean that it has never happened or never will happen. I don't know how one could go to bed and fall asleep after letting a person be harmed when he could have helped. But, less police officers will initiate work. This I can guarantee. -

No it is not, but; if you were a police officer and felt like there was a deck stacked against you, it would make sense to be less proactive. For instance, if you had enough summonses for the month, would you stop the car that just ran that red light if you didn't have to and risk a confrontation/allegation? And make no mistake, the above is not about "lesson teaching." Not at all. It's about keeping your job and pension, as well as feeding your kids. -

If in fact I misunderstood your words, I am sorry. I am not going to list the thousands of things that police officers do for minority communities. You are furious and probably wouldn't believe me, or even listen with an open mind. When the smoke clears (and sadly it will take some time), maybe some changes can be made for the good of all. Meanwhile, crime stats are now soaring in NYC and other places. The community will suffer more than police officers, this I can guarantee because cops can just step back, not get involved, and still get paid. The entire situation just sucks. This cretin ex-cop had his knee on the throat of this entire country, including good, honest police officers. -

No. I didn't say that at all. It must be what you want to believe. It was because of her attack upon, and allegations against at least 1 police officer. If she uttered 1 good word about any cop you would hate her, right? C'mon man, admit it. You hate clearly hate all cops, except this one and completely trust her. Oh, you also support a mentally ill murderer in Dormer. Not too big on self introspection, are we? -

It strikes me that as someone who has uttered utter contempt for pretty much all police officers, you automatically believe this one particular officer. Neither of us was there and i take it there is no video. We don't know her disciplinary record, nor how many incidents she herself was involved in, but let's take every word she says at face value and accept it as gospel truth, right? Seriously? -
You'll never know how much I really love you You'll never know how much I really care Listen, do you want to know a secret? Do you promise not to tell? Whoa-oh-oh, closer Let me whisper in your ear Say the words you long to hear I'm in love with you, ooh

Politics in Football, Sports in General

I think it is cool for the National Anthem to be played before games, and think that nobody should kneel. If the owners decided to ban kneeling, I would be fine with it. That said, if players want to and choose to kneel, it will not bother me enough to boycott the NFL. If kneeling causes certain players to get in the poor graces of their respective team owner and it ends up costing them in some way, I don't care about that either.
