  1. Thanks for this link. This man makes the point that I have been driving home for days.
  2. You make a very solid point. I totally agree but remember, there is stiff competition. In all my years watching football I don't really recall this particular scenario. Watching these teams (Jets, Falcone, Giants, etc.) happily go down the tubes at the same time is fascinating, no?
  3. You are making perfect sense and are probably correct. I do not make the Bills a favorite in the race for Williams. That said, imo the only reason we are still perhaps even in the conversation is because the Jets are clearly tanking. Another divisional loss to us would actually be good for the Jets. Sounds crazy, no? Again, I think that there are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. If the Jets could land Lawrence, he will own the town before he takes a snap. He would revitalize a weather beaten fan base. The already high price of their franchise would go through the roof. Now, imagine if he plays well. Remember wrt Lawrence, we are looking at the top qb prospect since John Elway, who I think came into the league in 1982. I don't know for sure that he will be great, or even good. What I do believe is that almost every team in the NFL covets this kid. Also, for the record lol, I am almost always against trading away first round picks. Trading up almost always sucks imo (Whaley), and even trading down can bite a team in the ass (Mahomes). As much as i like Williams, I would not want the Bills to pay an unreasonable price. Jmo.
  4. Gotta do what you can just to keep your love alive Trying not to confuse it, with what you do to survive In sixty-nine I was twenty-one and I called the road my own I don't know when that road turned into the road I'm on Running on (running on empty) Running on (running blind) Running on (running into the sun) But I'm running behind
  5. It wouldn't be so dumb if they lost out, got the first pick, and the franchise value increased by hundreds of millions of dollars. I think that at this point, losing is clearly what the Jets are striving for this season.
  6. Not necessarily. The Jets are tanking, no? Losing Williams would HELP the Jets, not hurt them. If the Jets lose out and draft 1st, they will make untold money by drafting Lawrence. Seriously.
  7. Hard to say. I will state point blank that I am SURE that he is a very good football player. About this I have no doubt. Still in all, I think that he went a bit early in the draft and remember saying so on this board with @BADOLBILZ. Now, what would be the cost? That is clearly the deciding factor under any conditions. A late 1st? A 2nd and a 4th? I suppose it would depend on how much Beane (notice I said Beane, not McDermott) thinks that we need him. That said, would the Jets trade him in the division? Normally I would say no way, but I make the case that they are CLEARLY tanking. I said this before I heard anything about this article. I think that the possibility exists that we could get him. As I said in another post, Lawrence in NY (NJ) would be the next Joe Namath in terms of hype, etc. He would make the owner of the Jets untold millions and increase the value of the franchise by a billion or so. As always, jmo.
  8. This really sucks. Coach Saban is working from home and Coach Sarkasian is apparently in charge, I guess as much as this is possible. Nick Saban is a short tempered, brusque individual. He is also a very religious man and a huge donor to charity. As much as I want the Tide to defeat Georgia on Saturday, what is most important to me is that Coach Saban has a complete and speedy recovery. The man looks great and is said to be symptom free, but he isn't young. My prayers go out to him and his loved ones, and I suspect that he is just so tough that he will pull through this menace. Get well Coach Saban!!!!! ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. 3 years in the NFL is like 30 years in the real world.
  10. Dave, do you think that this was another "tank" move by the Jets? I for one do think so.
  11. I do. I do not want Trevor Lawrence in our division.
  12. OK. In that case he might want to stay down south. Also, NYC at this time.....let me just say that NYC has seen better days and leave it at that. Otoh, I am unable to imagine the Jets winning a game. One thing is certain.....this will be quite the interesting off season.
  13. This really sucks. I had no idea that we lost so many baseball players this year, to include 6 hall of famers. https://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/baseball_deaths.php?y=2020
  14. Maybe. But wouldn't he be passing up on 35 million dollars or somewhere close to it? I know nothing of his economic background. Also, if he signs with one of the New Jersey teams (a very strong possibility imo), I can't begin to imagine the amount of money he will make. Rogers and Manning make a few bucks in advertisements, no? Now I am talking about NY money, in addition to the women and the nightlife. We are talking about the next Joe Namath in terms of hype. I'm curious.....do you think that the NFL DESPERATELY wants Trevor to play in NJ? I do and if I was betting on games I would bet accordingly. My guess is that he goes to the Jets but as always, JMO.
  15. Ask him for water, he poured me some wine We finished the bottle and broke into mine You get what you come for, ya ready to go Well, it's one in ten thousand that come for the show Abraham and Isaac diggin' on a well Mama came quick with the water witch spell Well cool clear water well you can't ever tell
  16. Mick, I am not seeing much resistance here to the ad campaign. Are you sure that the above isn't just a dig at folks that you thought would be outraged and object to this gesture by the NFL? Peace.
  17. I don't believe that he started the thread.
  18. Are you being antgonistic for any specific reason, or just having fun? Funny, but I remember reading something about keeping politics off this board. I suppose I need clarification. It's probably me.
  19. Come Saturday morning I'm goin' away with my friend Well Saturday-laugh more than half of the day Just I and my friend (my friend) Dressed up in our rings and our Saturday things And then we'll move on But we will remember Long after Saturday's gone
  20. All around I see the purple shades of evening And on the ground The shadows fall and one again you're in my arms So tenderly The sidewalks in the street, The concrete and the clay beneath my feet Begins to crumble But love will never die Because we'll see the mountains tumble Before we say goodbye.
  21. Thanks, this makes sense. Many folks are not equipped at a young age to be given millions of dollars and still have the same drive to work hard. When I was his age, I can't say for sure how well I would have acted with my pockets stuffed with huge, guaranteed cash.
  22. Are there any rumors about Haskins having behavioral issues? A demotion is one thing but this move did seem rather drastic, no?
  23. I am posting this not because it is the greatest song ever, but because it stood the test of time. Decades ago this band (IF) was compared to Steve Winwood and called the "English version of Chicago." I doubt many of you have heard this, but pleae chime in if you have. It's a suite which contains rock, horns, jazz, and great vocals. I do hope you enjoy, here comes "Sunday Sad." https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=if2+sundy+sad&pc=EUPP_UF01&mkt=en-us&httpsmsn=1&msnews=1&rec_search=1&refig=e6a19688c08a4f73ab11389672691734&sp=-1&pq=if2+sundy+sad&sc=1-13&qs=n&sk=&cvid=e6a19688c08a4f73ab11389672691734&ru=%2fsearch%3fq%3dif2%2bsundy%2bsad%26form%3dPRHPC1%26pc%3dEUPP_UF01%26mkt%3den-us%26httpsmsn%3d1%26msnews%3d1%26rec_search%3d1%26refig%3de6a19688c08a4f73ab11389672691734%26sp%3d-1%26pq%3dif2%2bsundy%2bsad%26sc%3d1-13%26qs%3dn%26sk%3d%26cvid%3de6a19688c08a4f73ab11389672691734&view=detail&mmscn=vwrc&mid=40A97F35333CC6851D9240A97F35333CC6851D92&FORM=WRVORC
  24. I am guessing that they wish they drafted Tua.
