TSW Mock Draft 2.0 - Complete!!
Bill from NYC replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was not, but he is a gamble. I have watched every play of every game in which he has played. His talent is beyond question. I talked about him months ago. His character however might raise some eyebrows. I know that Coach Saban suspended CB for the 1st quarter of a game, and would not (to his credit) say why. A poster on this board who claims (and I believe him) to have some connections in Tuscaloosa posted words to the effect that Barmore has behavioral issues, and that he was told of this by legit sources. If this kid gives it his all, I liken him to Warren Sapp. Make no mistake, he can play. That said, a small but certain group of Alabama players go crazy once they are out of the supervision, or call it the clutches if you will of Nick Saban. Reuben Foster is an example. I think that he was a better football player coming out of college than Barmore. He was a predator, and could have been the very best LB in the NFL imo. He could cover, defend the run, and blitz. I am talking clear (imo) HOF talent. We had 2 Crimson Tide players (Dareus and Kouandjio) who despite their talent (although I said when he was drafted that Kouandjio was overrated) went wild once they got away from Saban, with millions of dollars in their pocket. In summary, Barmore is worth the risk. I wish there was a way that the Bills could get him but there just isn't (sans a tradeup), which for the reasons above would be risky (let alone costly). The kid is a player for sure, and he is a tough kid from North Philly. I will be rooting for hm to be a success. -
You are correct. I got my responses confused. 😕 Sorry.

This would already push us into round 2. Do you mean an extra 2nd in 2022?

Great post! The above makes the situation harder for GMs imo. The college coaches probably have the best handle on players but it does seem to me that they don't always tell the truth to NFL GMs unless they have an established relationship. In fact, Saban said on the HBO Special (Belichick/Saban) that most teams don't even call him before drafting Alabama players. This seems odd, and i am thinking that there must be a reason. My point is that it is great that we have a good management team in place. It was SO bad for SO long that I am still adjusting to it.

This type of trade would cost more than that. We would probably have to toss in the #2 this year, perhaps MUCH more depending on how far up you are trying to get. Yes and we got him after trading down 8 spots. This alone was a very strong indication that he would suck, ya know?
-
Does this draft appear to you to be exceptionally strong at Offensive Tackle?
-
Never been so disinterested in a draft
Bill from NYC replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are lots of Offensive Tackles, and really all OL positions in this draft. Some of them would go much higher in a different draft imo. In a normal draft, #30 would be too far back to grab a premier LT but it looks like it might be possible this season. -
Whoa, when I'm longing to love you Just for a night Kissing and hugging And holding you tight Please let me love you With all my might Reasons The reasons that we're here The reasons that we fear Our feelings won't disappear

One day you're up and the next day you're down You can't face the world with your head to the ground The grass is always greener on the other side, they say So don't worry, boys, life will be sweet some day Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh We made enough mistakes But you know we got what it takes Oh, we ain't got nothin' yet No, we ain't got nothin' yet

SI: The Unrivaled Arrival of Trevor Lawrence
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You give me too much credit. I am a life long Alabama Fan and the only conference I pay much attention to is the SEC. In terms of QBs, I have missed my share of predictions. I truly believed that Rob Johnson would be the answer to our problems lol. I have also clicked a few times, to include Josh Allen. Wrt Lawrence, I have not seen this much talent in a college QB since John Elway. If I was pinned down, I guess I would say that Elway was a bit more talented than TL, but not by much. They were/are both freaks. My point is that your guess is as good as mine. -

I feel as if I completely understand your post and agree 100%. As far as the bolded, this kid is an individual. There are more players like Reuben Foster (mega talented, predator, stoned out on perhaps drugs, steroids, and maybe a touch of CTE) than there are players who make statements like "football isn't everything," or words to that effect. Also, what also struck me about the OP were TL's comments about getting married. He says that many people are saying he is nuts to do so at this time. The thing is CT, statistically, the nay sayers are correct. He got married weeks before signing a guaranteed contract that approaches 40 million dollars!!! Good luck with that in divorce court. Two kids is 25% of your gross income but I digress. He is getting married because HE wants to, despite the risks that he seems to be well aware of. As for winning football games not being THE most important thing in the world.....he is techichally right. We are Bills fans, THE most loyal fans in the USA imo. We are starving for a Super Bowl win after 4 losses and decades of stupidity and neglect. WE are fanatics but surely even we know that other things matter more. Btw, if Trevor falters (and I happen to think that he is a genertional talent and will be a superstar), the press will eat him alive. They will remember the interviews that he didn't give them. He probably knows this too and doesn't care. As always, jmo. -

TSW Mock Draft 2.0 - Complete!!
Bill from NYC replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is not unheard of for teams to draft 2 OTs early and back to back. In 1997, the Colts drafted Tarik Glenn and Adam Meadows in rounds 1 and 2. The following season, they drafted Peyton Manning. I think that Bill Polian was the GM. They seem to have fared pretty well. The Dolphins have a QB that had a rough rookie season and needs help. I got him Pitts and two young, talented OTs and make no apologies. Wait..... looking back, maybe I should have stayed at 6 and took a cornerback!!! 😎😲👍 -

The OTs that I chose can play many different positions. Maybe..... -

Sorry to all that I took 2 hours. I agonized (OK, a bit extreme) over this selection. I had a different player in mind big time, but I am going to use, (against my original strategy) the @BADOLBILZ method of drafting. The Miami Dolphins, with the 36th pick in the draft, select Liam Eichenberg - OT - University of Notre Dame. We did so because we have now provided Tua with tremendous tools to succeed in this draft. I mean really, 2 HIGHLY capable blockers who can both play at LT. Oh.....and Kyle Pitts, the best TE prospect I have seen in 30 or so years. As much as I like Tua as a player and even more as a person, I am a Bills Fan first. I really do hope that the draft doesn't go down this way. Btw, HUGE thanks to @Virgiland @whatdrought. This was/is a fun time. @Watkins101 is on the clock. -
When is it? I think Alabama plays the A Game on 4/17. I was able to spot a SLEW of talented players watching that. John Metchie kicked ass in that game and nobody was talking about him.

Yes, I dare say that if Tua gets it together, I am creating a monster team in Miami lol. -
Getting my 1st Covid vaccination Tuesday
Bill from NYC replied to Chandler#81's topic in Off the Wall
My fiancee had a bad to reaction to the 2nd Moderna but only for 1 day, perhaps less than 24 hours. My 2nd Moderna was even easier than the first, which was fine. I'm talking zero symptoms. Fwiw, my fiancee is a RN. She actually gives the shots and says that women are getting worse reactions than men. Naturally, I don't know for sure if this is true but this is her strong opinion. -
Langston Walker was incredibly bad. By the time he got into his stance, the qb was hurried or sacked. As I recall, the Bills signed Walker and the equally horrid Derrick Dockery as UFAs. Their (non-guaranteed) contracts were worth well over 90 million dollars, and these guys were flat out disgraceful. They were SO bad that it was painful to watch.
-
Brad Butler wasn't very good at all imo. He also was injured virtually all of the time. Bills Fans would cling to him, hoping that we had even one player on the OL who was even slightly capable of blocking another NFL player. Butler was a half step better than the likes of Terrance Pennington, this when he was healthy. Jmo.

Great question!
