What was your worst take ever?
Bill from NYC replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I happened to be in a sports bar and saw the a game he played with Tampa Bay. Please trust me, he was perfect. He was throwing great, accurate passes and they upset the team they were playing. Worse yet, I saw one of his college games in which he was also great. So great that I wanted the Bills to draft him but ya know, he lasted until the 1st pick of the 4th round. Sometimes the scouts are right. Anyway, Wade HAD to have seen the Tampa game that I saw. I remember him at a press conference welcoming in the "Rob Johnson Era." Seriously! -

What was your worst take ever?
Bill from NYC replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, after Rob Johnson left I still thought he would get himself together and be a star. This illustrates just how sold I was on him. Then, I was at a Bills game at RWS when he was on the Redskins. Their QB was injured and RJ came in. He was absolutely awful, and he was sacked several times. Once, Schobel hit him SO hard that I was concerned for his health. RJ was big and had a great arm. He was accurate and his ball looked easy to catch. He was even a fast runner. This made it hard for me to see how bad he in fact was. After RJ, I was never fooled by another QB other than Edwards, and this only for a few games. I think I was WAY ahead of the pack knowing just how terrible Losman was. The play was over every time he rolled to his right lol! -
I strongly disagree with them, and not for the reasons you might suspect. Alabama is ranked a bit too high imo. I think that their defense will be the best college football has seen in many years, but this is an offensive game now. I just don't know if a defense, even a great one csn stop high powered offenses. The Tide lost just so much talent on offense that if they do win a title this year, it will be the greatest achievement of Coach Saban's career which obviously says quite a bit. I feel like Ohio State has the edge this year, They are super talented and will be hungry after the title game. I would love to hear the opinions/predictions of others. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/31366880/college-football-post-spring-top-25-power-rankings

Is Jerry Hughes a future Wall of Famer?

You make a great point. Imo Schobel was a clearly superior player to Hansen. I'm saying not even close. -
No CB in Draft? — No Problem or No, Problem?
Bill from NYC replied to RJ (not THAT RJ)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Times have changed. We were drafting all of these DBs even before the rule changes made the NFL primarily a passing league. Now, corners are of more value and better athletes are playing this position. I readily acknowledge this. That said, the success of the Buffalo Bills Franchise hinges on Josh Allen. This would seem to be beyond dispute. We need to protect him and give him weapons. We drafted 3 blockers this year and it was a smart move imo. Other than Dawkins, how many of our blockers deserve big contracts? Some will need to be replaced (at some point) and the guys we drafted will not cost much. If any of them are good, they are a "steal" of sorts. Also fwiw, imo this was a draft that was loaded with blockers. In a normal draft all 3 would have been selected sooner. As for our first pick, have you watched him on you tube? The kid has the perfect build (long, strong arms) to be a pass rusher, and he is fast. People on this board who are Miami Fans love this pick, therefore so do I. One last point if I may.....Levi Wallace is a good player. Calvin Ridley practiced against him and said that he was a solid corner. Tre might be the best corner in the NFL. If not, he is top 5 and they are both young. Our secondary doesn't seem to be much of a problem so I am not so worried. As always, jmo. -
Wow thanks! I had not seen this yet. Losing Waddle and Davonta is HUGE. Davonta had the best hands on the team in a very long time, better than Jeudy or even Ridley. Waddle was fast, twitchy, and virtually impossible to cover so yes, there is room for more competition. John Metchie is their top receiver entering the season but he is not a Waddle type burner so I love bringing in this kid. Alabama will be a MUCH different team this year. Our defense (imho) looks better than it has in many years. If they remain healthy, these might be the best LBs I have ever seen. OLB Will Anderson, as a true sophmore, could be the best defensive player in the country IF he can stay healthy. The secondary looks great despite losing Surtain, and the DL looks better than last season. A kid named Tim Smith looks like he can replace Barmore. I don't really bet, but I think that people are going to make some money on the under early in the season. I would love it if you and/or Yolo would do an in depth analysis of OSU when we get close to the season. The offense can't possibly be as good. Bryce Young will bring a dimension of running that Mac didn't have, but we will miss Mac.

I think Covington once had 17 tackles in one game, or something crazy like that. He was VERY hard to block. Holocek was also a top notch player and was only drafted late because of college injuries. He played well for a while but his body gave out. Same with Cowart. I remember that we lost virtually all of our LBs really close together. I think there was a game against Tampa Bay where there were multiple very serious injuries. Many young fans just don't know what we had to endure.

Decent? I suppose but he had several poor drafts. I think that his best move as the Bills GM was to bring in Bryce Paup as a free agent. Butler did have what I consider to be a very good draft in 1995. Sadly, several of these players got seriously injured and it hurt their careers. Kerner and Irvin were good corners imo, especially Kerner. Holecek was very good but constantly injured, and Darrick was fantastic for a 7th round pick.

Justin Fields confirms epilepsy rumor

Thanks but not really lol. I have followed the Tide for many years so sometimes I am in tune with what happens down there. I think that Cam will start the season for NE and will probably suck. Although he is exceptionally smart, Mac might need a year to learn the program. Remember, he only had 17 college starts. NE alo drafted DT Christian Barmore. If he keep his head on straight he will be a monster at DT. Miami took Jaylen Waddle who is a mega talented WR, He is going to score lots of touchdowns if healthy. It's a good thing the Bills are so talented. They should be able to handle their division, and perhaps anybody else! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
If they gave me a fortune My treasure would be small I could lose it all tomorrow And never mind at all But if I should lose your love, dear I don't know what I'll do For I know I'll never find another you

Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Bill from NYC replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Landon Dickerson would have been a perfect fit forthe Bills but if my friend (a Miami Fan) is right about Rousseau (and I have no reason to doubt him), we made the right move. When people are fans of, and focus closely on one college team, I pay close attention. For instance, do you think that there is much going on at OSU that @YoloinOhioand @Willyville Guydon't know about? -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Bill from NYC replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had never seen any of them play before yesterday. That said, someone whose opinion I have tons of respect for told me that Rousseau is a very talented player who can rush the passer, therefore I am very happy with the pick. 3 blockers in one draft? Utterly fantastic. Our OL doesn't suck like it used to but there are no great players on it either imo. The Bills could use some competition and depth when it comes to protecting Josh. Maybe one of them will be great. Who knows? I voted B but would have voted B+ had there been the option, and will change it to an A if I can. -
What was your worst take ever?
Bill from NYC replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand what you are saying, but our front office used to be JUST SO BAD that many posters were correct more often than our GMs. Many, if not a big majority of our early draft selections were flat out stupid in those days. -

Bro, that is tough to beat!!! 😀 However, I was sure that Rob Johnson was the answer to all of our quarterback woes and that he would lead us deep into the post season. 😕 Absolutely!!!! -

TSW Mock Draft 2.0 - Complete!!
Bill from NYC replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no doubt that Leatherwood will be a good player. None. It does however look like our suspicions about Barmore might be accurate. He has far too much talent to have not been selected in round 1. His personality issues must be common knowledge. The truth is, he should have stayed in school. Alabama will have the best defense we have seen in a very long time this year and the kid could have raised his draft position, just like Leatherwood did.
