  1. By the time the season is over, Josh Allen being the best QB in the NFL is NOT beyond the realm of possibility. A healthy Josh Allen gets better. The only question is by how much.
  2. Now that you're gone All that's left is a band of gold All that's left of the dreams I hold Is a band of gold And the memories, of what love could be If you were, still here with me
  3. Your post is filled with great info. Wrt police suicides, the number of them in big city departments is surely higher than in small towns. Being a cop in some surroundings is probably a great life, despite today's climate. There were severalyears in which the NYPD had 10 or more suicides, this in a dept, with approx. 35,000 police officers (since they were combined with the Transit and Housing Police). These horrible stats do not count retirees.
  4. I am very glad to hear this. Hopefully this holds up ater they have been married for a while and the number of divorces increases.
  5. The highest suicide rate sadly belongs to police officers. Years ago it was dentists. I am not posing as an expert, but I suspect that people who feel, or in fact are hated are more prone to suicide than others. At one point NYPD cops were killing themselves at an alarming rate. A union trustee started an organization to help cops so that they could seek help without being labled by the job and having their careers ruined. Along with others, I contributed money. Eventually, the job was dragged into supporting it and now they get hundreds (if not thousands) of calls per year from cops seeking help, and highly trained peer counsellors are there to offer the needed assistance. I was unaware of high suicide numbers for gays. I hope that they too have support groups and suspect that they do. I pray that those in need take advantage of the great help that is out there. One last thing about suicides.....almost all of the many that I was personally aware of involved relationships. One police officer screwed up an accident report, and a lieutenant told him he was getting a minor counselling. He went upstairs to the locker room and blew his brains out. This was an exception but even at that something else was certainly involved. Divorce was the major cause from what I saw, and with gay marriages being legal now I hope that this doesn't develop into a problem. Sorry to ramble. I knew many people who committed suicide and this is a painful subject to me. PLEASE seek help if anyone is ever chronically depressed. It gets better.
  6. Gee, I wonder why a man that size would require a bodyguard.
  7. I thought I knew you I guess I took myself Right down the wrong road Leading to the past I know you're trying To rearrange your mind But you were lying Do you laugh in my face Turn back turn back the pages Who remembers names? Who remembers faces? Turn back, don't drive yourself crazy Life's too short for ritualistic chases
  8. Some great comments from Booger McFarland.
  9. She brushes the curls from my eyes She drops her robe on the floor And she reaches for the light on the bureau And the darkness is her pillow once more. How she makes me quiver How she makes me smile With all this love I have to give her I guess I'm gonna stay with her a while.
  10. I am not the biggest fan of his show but the man sums it up 100% in this clip imo. Opinions?
  11. Agreed but the bolded is changing, and rapidly. NYC residents have been flocking to Long Island at an unbelieveable rate. They are purchasing houses over the asking price, sight unseen. For real esate sales people, there is virtually no inventory. The reasons are simple: 1) People are working from home. Why not enjoy a nice yard, etc. On Long Island you are currently unable to get an inground pool installed until October according to a pool store that I recently visited, and an above ground 18' round (installed) will now run at least 7 thousand dollars, probably much more. 2) Rich white people in NYC are paying 40K per year per child (sometimes more) to send their kiddies to segregated private schools. When they get out to Long Island, Westchester, etc. and the property taxes are close to (if not more than) 20 K, to them it is a steal. 3) Shootings in NYC are up 78% year to date. I will not get into the reasons, but don't expect these numbers to go down for quite some time. It is only going to get worse and stay that way for a long while. I do not claim to know it all but I have lived through crime trends like this. They are easy enough to spot after after having experienced them first hand. At this point, I am advising against visiting NYC unless you really feel like you know where you are going. That said, do as you will. My guess is an educated one but ultimately it is still jmo.
  12. I was somewhat with you until after the first paragraph. Not as good as Spiller? 😁😁😁😂😂😂😮😮😮
  13. Yellow is the color of my true love's hair In the morning, when we rise In the morning, when we rise That's the time, That's the time I love the best
  14. Doing it in what way MV? What school large or small played as many games as Alabama last season?
  15. Red lights flashing Through the window in the rain Can you hear the sirens moan? White cane lying in a gutter in the lane If you're walking home alone Don't let it bring you down It's only castles burning Find someone who's turning And you will come around
  16. Many college teams do not go all out for bowl games that cannot lead to a championship. Countless players even sit out these games, but I think that you already knew this. Alabama just lost 3 of the 5 Heisman trophy finalists, and another (Jaylen Waddle) was injured or he might have made it 4 of 5. All played on the offensive side. Clemson lost Trevor Lawrence and co. Ohio State lost God knows who and these teams will still be great. That said, the NCAA seems willing to throw bones at 8 weaker teams and in doing so, increase the injury rate of the players (who are almost exclusively poor kids) just to increase profits. And they will do this under the guise of giving inferior programs a supposed "chance" to win the title. Fat chance.
  17. When the Bills were horrible, there was a thread on TSW each and every season asking if Alabama could beat the Bills. Every year I said NO. A great college team doesn't compare to a bad NFL team. I will use this analogy to UCF/Alabama. Alabama is loaded every year with blue chip players. This season the offense suffered huge losses. It will be good, but not as good as last year. However, the defense looks better than I have seen in many years. UCF probably would not score against Alabama. 2017 wouldn't have been much different in a game that mattered. We are looking at 2 entirely different programs. Jmo.
  18. Promo, how many of those teams do you think deserve a shot at the title? A strong case could be made for none, no?
  19. I think that the above factors in, and is probably the number 2 reason. The primary reason for most great players attending Alabama is the prospect of getting into the NFL. This matters even more than winning a championship. While recruiting, Coach Saban can sit down with a player (and their parents/grand parents) and show them copies of a contract that Alabama graduates have signed to earn millions of guaranteed dollars, this at EVERY position. Players know what they are getting into when they go to Tuscaloosa and almost all of them buy into the sytstem. The same applies to coaches. Nobody goes to Alabama to have fun. Coaches like Jimbo Fisher, Kirby Smart, and our own Brian Daboll leave Alabama and make 7 or 8 million per year. Other coaches like Locksley, Kiffen, Sarkisian, Butch Jones, Bill O'Brien, and even Doug Marrone go to Bama to revive their careers. All of these coaches were struggling for one reason or another and came to Alabama not to reinvent the wheel, but to fit into Saban's system, and it worked. These men all left for better jobs (except for the brand new arrivals). High school kids know that there are only a few places where they can get this kind of coaching, not to mention the great facilities but again; the main reason players go to places like Alabama, OSU, and Clemson is because is the chances for them to become multi millionaires are greater at places like this than they are at schools with inferior programs.
  20. The above is a thought provoking question imo. I think that the answer to it is no, but I do get your point. I have spoken to a particular player who was a second round draft pick. I also spoke to his mother. He hails from Mississippi and his mom is a nursing assistant. If he would have torn his achilles (or another horrible injury), he would be out millions of dollars. Things are changing in Alabama. Many of the players are very bright kids these days. Still, some are not exactly chemistry majors and stand to make much more money playing football than they will after college in other endeavors. NFL players have very short careers and this opens the for for later round draft picks as well as udfas to make the pros. I'm not going to harp on it but I think that a majority of the top college players come from poor families. Most have little to nothing to fall back on and an injury can cost them a sum of money they would probably not see from any other line of work. If they MUST expand the playoffs, my thing is to do away with conference title games and shorten the regular season. They should also place more emphasis on strength of schedule. Again, jmo.
  21. Unless he was also a Crimson Tide fan!
  22. Really? I was thinking that sub-par teams would stand a chance of losing by scores of 60-0. That doesn't sound like fun from where I sit FC. Also, I don't think that the championships should be fun based. Maybe the best teams should play, no? And also, "fun" for who? Not the kid who loses a 20 million or so guaranteed contract for having to play extra, unpaid college games. Sorry, I don't think that inferior teams should be rewarded. I also don't think that the college kids should be taking more risk. Finally, I think that the reason for this proposal is economic exploitation. It will be great for the NCAA but how good will it be for the injured player. Thanks for the dialogue FC and as always, JMO.
  23. Oh, OK. I thought that Alabama played a 10 game all SEC schedule in 2020 and went undefeated. Sorry.
  24. Is everything all right? I just called to say how lost I feel without you Miles away I really can't believe I'm here and how I still care about you Hearts can break And never mend together Love can fade away Hearts can cry When love won't stay forever Hearts can be that way
