I wouldn't go THAT far, but blockers are a huge part of what makes The Tide able to compete with the top rate teams that they face. What amazes me about this kid is that he is lining up at RT, even though he seems quite coordinated. There are however two 5 star freshmen in the 2021 class who both look like special OTs. This year the offensive losses were SO big that they might be insurmountable. 2021 will be a HUGE challenge for Coach Saban. That said, this team might have the best defense in a long time. The second string linebackers and defensive backs would probably be top 10 units in the country. Will Anderson (soph) might really be the best defensive player in the NCAA. It is possible. The DL looks very good and deep as well. I don't bet football but I'm going to consider betting the under on a few games. They might even pitch a couple of shutouts this season. If you enjoy watching tough defensive college games, watch the Crimson Tide this year. Given the RPOs and the rule changes that strongly favor offenses, Saban will have a tough time for sure but the defense should crush people, starting September 4th. Jmo.

I love it that he went to the same school as Bryce Paup, who is now a coach thereat.

Yes, allegations of domestic abuse are often recanted in court, but when a police officer enters into a domestic dispute in which a person has a missing tooth, black eye, etc., somebody is leaving in handcuffs. I know of 2 current, prominent politicians in NYS who would have been arrested for having been in similar situations in the old days (I will not elaborate). This was before the OJ case, which changed police department policies and even laws (The Lautenberg Law for example) across America. Cops would come in with robbery arrests and be told to "watch their overtime." Others would bring in a domestic Assault 3 (misdemeanor assault, which would be the correct classification for this case in NYS) and be told "great job." Bosses were in fear of law suits and/or disciplinary action up to removal for NOT making arrests on domestics. As for the non-bolded, I strongly agree. Although I have seen it once or twice, it is extremely rare for a woman to just punch out a man unless she feels that she is in danger or is provoked in other ways. I wasn't there and have no way of knowing for sure but experience tells me that Haskins had some part in this, and I am not trying to justify violence. Even aided by good old alcohol, it is a big decision to physically attack an NFL player who is a genetic mutant, and quite possibly crazed on steroids. We may think of him as "just a qb," but he takes hits from men the size of Marcel Dareus, as well as the human missile safeties. Hits from normal humans might not even hurt him. As I said, it happens but not so often.

Truckin' up to Buffalo - Grateful Dead July 4, 1989 @ Rich Stadium
Bill from NYC replied to WhoTom's topic in Off the Wall
I have always thought that 1989 was the best of the Dead. The Philly show was off the charts great as well. Jerry even looked fairly sober. -
Here is a recent commit for the 2022 class. I absolutely love when kids like this decide to come to Tuscaloosa. He is in high school and looks like an NFL Right Tackle! ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now a quarter of my life is almost past I think I've come to see myself at last And I see that the time spent confused Was the time that I spent without you And I feel myself in bloom So darling be home soon I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled My darling be home soon It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled For the great relief of having you to talk to

Yes but that was a very smart move. People in these parts (and I imagine many other places) are moving to Tennessee every day. Moving to Tennessee was either a very smart or very lucky move. Their college football team is down the tubes for now but they too will be back. It does however look like that will take several years.

Remember it is fast food. There is no place in these parts that resembles Anderson's. I smother it in the au juus and throw lots of black pepper on it. Then, I follow it up with vanilla custard. I pretty much only eat like this up in Williamsville. Btw in terms of price, a few months ago I went to Nathan's and had 2 hot dogs and a small coke. It cost me $11.50. I'm not making this up. I am not a cheap person by any means but doesn't that seem excessive?

I think that Ralph was a good man and a great businessman. If Ralph had 100 lives, he would be rich 100 times. I am also of the opinion that Ralph was senile for some time before he died. Does anyone remember when he said that he needed to get "more involved?" What a mess that turned out to be! Hiring Levy/Jauron was probably the dumbest move I have ever seen any sports franchise make. It made hiring the lazy, useless Rex Ryan look like a smart move in comparison. Levy was clearly overmatched and done at the time. But, even given the above; I will always be grateful to him for keeping the Bills where they are, and even still think of the stadium as "The Ralph."

John Facenda finally going into the HOF! [Edited]
Bill from NYC replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is great news. I truly wish that there was a way to honor Joel Buchsbaum. He did get some sort of award in 2003 but imo he was THE best sportswriter to ever cover football and especially the draft. If he was alive today he would be a multi-millionaire He died WAY too soon. 😟 -
