The Athletic NFL 100 of all time
Bill from NYC replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Erik Williams was a superstar. When people talk about that Cowboy team they mostly mention Smith, Irvin, and Aikman. This is fine, but the 2 players folks forget are Erik Williams and Leon Lett. Neither one had the longest career but when they were at their peak they were great, even Hall of Fame level players. If either one was on the Bills we would have won multiple super bowls. Jmo. -

I am not so sure. Like I said, they don't play anybody. Who is going to beat them? Miami? They are going to win out by 40-50 points per game now. Teams that actually have to face strong opponents are at a disadvantage.

ACC, Big 10, Pac 12 Alliance
Bill from NYC replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in College Football
I too am pretty sure that plenty of supposedly great teams didn't play all that well against unranked teams on Saturday, no? I watched the Oklahoma game. They would have lost if they were not handed some awful calls by the refs, one in particular. They scored a bunch of points but I was not overly impressed by their supposed Heisman QB. That said, it was only 1 game. -

Not at all. What happened to Clemson last night is a great example of what usually happens when a team has the guts to step out of a pansy ass conference and play a top team. In fact, I think that Clemson will still reach the playoffs because their schedule is just that weak. They will probably win out the rest of their games by scores of 50-0. I don't know what's up with LSU (coaching?), but obviously they are a historically good team. There are no tough teams in the PAC 12 so yes, when one of those teams has the courage to play an SEC team I applaud them. How many teams do you think are lining up begging to play Alabama or Ohio State? -
Yesterday was his first ever time on the field at the LT position. The kid really has a promising future.

Thinking about moving back to the Buffalo area.
Bill from NYC replied to NewEra's topic in Off the Wall
Bob, great to hear from you! Are you back in WNY? I don't know if you remember the 2 Jerrys I introduced you to, but one of them bought the house in Williamsville that his wife grew up in. The "crew" spends time up there in the summer and we are very fond of the area. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn on Main Street. From there we can walk to SO many cool places to include a very good brewery. We met the chef and the food is good. So is the New England IPA they make. My fiance and I take walks in the very nice parks and the food is superb. With so many cities in decline (not sure about Buffalo), I find that the food quality in the suburbs has vastly improved. I remember when we met you in that little bar. It was as if you owned the town! 👍 Hope all is well!!! -
A Crimson Tide playoff spot this season would be one of the biggest accomplishments of Saban's great career. Has any team ever lost as much in one season? I am talking about a GREAT QB, 2 all world receivers, perhaps the best RB in the NCAA, a fantastic team leader at Center, their best corner, their best defensive lineman, a starting TE, their offensive coordinator, OL Coach and Lord knows who else. Oh and i get it.....they do have 4 and 5 stars coming in, but they are still unproven. I am going to go out on a limb and say that the defense (when healthy) will be better than last season. They might even have as many as 8 (perhaps more) LBs who range from very good to perhaps the best defensive player in the NCAA (Will Anderson #31). The secondary is better and deeper than last year and the DL is about the same. Still, college football, as much as the NFL is an offensive game and I cannot imagine the Tide offense being even almost as good as 2020. I truly can't. In any event, I am ready and wish good luck to all who post on this page. I hope that your teams play well and remain healthy. I see your point but imo if Clemson loses (and manages to keep it close), they will win the rest of their games by 40 or 50 points. Unless there are 4 undefeated teams in front of them it will be hard to prevent them from getting in. As always, jmo.

Yeah the parking isn't always great but it is a truly lovely town imo. -
Even if Clemson loses they are all but guaranteed a playoff spot. They are a very strong team but they very rarely play anybody decent. Nothing new.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I fell in love with the town of Williamsville. Nice parks, great food, nice people. -
Spent a lifetime looking for somebody To give me love like you Now you've told me that you wanna leave me Darling, I just can't let you Baby, now that I've found you, I can't let you go I'll build my world around you, I need you so Baby, even though you don't need me You don't need me

Right?! Teams simply do not get rid of quality OTs (other than the old Bills with Jason Peters but that no longer counts). Now, if a team as bad as the Lions lets one go, there is simply no reason to think that he is any good. Yes but the negatives that they list make him sound pretty bad.

I won't have to. You will remember this exchange and probably invent another reason to hate. Envy is something that eats away at you. It's worse than jealousy. Bama now has 3 NFL starting QBs and a 5 star stepping in. The future looks bright. Be well Bro.
-
It looks like you haven't noticed, so let me help you out. Times have changed.

Even if he is fairly good, Mac is a better player on a better team. Let me take it a step further..... If Alabama and OSU switched QBs in the title game, I think that OSU would have won. Waddle was crippled and Davonta sat out the second half. This is Not, repeat NOT a knock against OSU. No, it is a compliment to their excellent team and specifcally their receivers. In the 2021 draft, I expect Mac to be second only to Trevor Lawrence. Again, jmo. Skip and Shannon did a great piece on the situation today. Shannon talked about how hard Mac works, and other reasons for the cut.
-
If Mac is healthy he will outperform the kid on the Jets, and it won't be even a tad close. Of course, this is jmo.

The biggest question here is: Does Mac Jones still suck? I remember reading here how he was not worth a first round pick.
