Once? More like 10 times!!! 🤣 Many just didn't get it and you said it BEFORE the 2006 draft, in which Jauron and Levy set back the team a solid 5 years (which I posted after that disaster draft). But ya know, time flies and memories fade. I suspect that many of our posters are too young to remember the horrors we faced, and I am glad that they were spared the pain. We did however meet lots of good people. 👍

I'm pretty sure that I think more highly of Mac than you do. Is it because I'm an Alabama homer? Probably. 🙂 Mac does not and will never have the tools of Josh Allen. Really, how many do? Still, in terms of arm strength, he doesn't have to step into his fastballs or deep passes the way Fitz does. He doesn't look it because he isn't a muscular specimen, but he is big and is no Trent Edwards. I'm not sure that that Brady has a better arm that Mac? Does he? There is a video on youtube of Mac throwing a perfect TD pass late in the game vs. Dallas. I can't link it, I suppose because it is an NFL film. His arm looks pretty good and his placement was even better. I expect Mac to have a long, successful NFL career, but he is NOT going to beat us this season!!! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, in an offensive league it is good to know that Josh is clearly superior to Mac, and I really like Mac. I expect a victory with a quarterback advantage as big as this.
-
Jones is a rookie. A very good one but a rookie nonetheless. And, he was not created by BB who has not even coached him for a full season. As usual, Badol summed it up perfectly. For 20 years, winning was something of a "relief." Blocking was an afterthought, and we drafted DBs and RBs instead of quarterbacks and blockers. Not only did we remain loyal fans, many of us defended even the dumbest moves (trading Peters, the 2006 draft, etc.). Some still do. Now, we have a top 5 (if not lower) QB. He is signed long term and is just a kid that will only get smarter and better. He is SO good that we are Super Bowl contenders imo. We can win it all this year but whether we do or not, we have to focus on getting Josh better weapons and protection. This is beyond debate imo.

I am NOT telling you what to do let alone advising you wrt betting. That said, you have no idea how much better we were last year Gordio. Here are some examples why: 1) Mac is MUCH better than Bryce, however; Bryce is more suited for this team because the OL is not even close to 2020. 2) Last season Alex Leatherwood (now playing very well for the Raiders) was our LT. Evan Neal was our RIGHT Tackle last season. Now he is on the left and while I see him as a top 10 draft pick (if not top 5) there is a void at RT. We also lost Landon Dickerson at Center. He went to the Eagles in round 2 because he was banged up. He was not replaced with someone nearly as good as him. 3) Metchie and Williams are not even in the same class as Davonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. Not even remotely close. 4) Najee Harris is clearly superior to every RB on this current team combined, and the ones we have are hurt. 5) We lost Surtain at corner and Barmore at DT. Both were first round picks. Now, the good news: 1) Bryce Young is VERY smart, moves well and has a great arm. As I said, his mobility makes him better that Mac for THIS team. 2) OLB/Pass Rusher Will Anderson might really be the best player in college football. He is a GREAT pass rusher AND loves to make plays vs. the run. 3) They have an OLB on the other side who started the year as 3rd string. Now, he is kicking the ass of every QB he faces. His name is Dallas Turner (#15). He is only a freshman and he is getting by blockers with fancy spin moves and he hits VERY hard. Remember, Anderson requires lots of blockers and this kid takes advantage of it on the other side. 4) To'o To"o came around at ILB. He looks good vs. the run, in coverage, and even on blitzes. 5) Watch for a kid named "Kool Aid" McQuinstry. I will step out on a limb and say that down the road he will be as good as Surtain but right now he is only a freshman. In summary, the defense looks as if it is coming around. The offense is good but by no means great. Georgia is now 6 1/2. Would I give Saban that many points? No but I am partial. Hope this helps.

Ok, who is it? I want to wish you all the luck as long as you are not facing my life long favorite college team. And I can't stress it enough, Alabama is a mere shadow of the 2020 team. They have proven to be beatable. Next year I hope for improvement.
-
Did you or did you not read where I said that Alabama would be in an 8 team playoff even with a loss to Georgia? An expanded playoff system would place Alabama in the playoffs more often, not less. I do however hope that the little team that you support gets better. I would really hope for the bolded, but it will be tough sledding against Georgia. Remember, I cannot stress enough that this team is not as good as Bama 2020. That team could have put up 70 against this Cincy team if they felt like it.
-
Well my friend, the committee does have the flexibility to not be glued to the teams with the best record. As far as Cincy having the best win, I respectfully disagree. How about Michigan over OSU for one, and again; I think that Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss (#9 I think), and other SEC teams that Bama beat are better teams than Cincy but of course, this is merely my opinion. PS: I am not trying to single out Cincy. Teams like Clemson and ND also would do well to play more real teams. Always a pleasure to talk football with you.

I have said many times that Saban has a ton of control over these kids. If he kicks them off the team they stand to lose millions, and of couse Saban would have ZERO risk of getting fired for it. Dareus said as much in an interview. Sometimes they do go off when they get their "freedom." Btw, in terms of Kuondjio, that was REALLY unexpected, and I suspect that his incident was a one time occurence. I was not happy when he was drafted because he had a chronic injury, and was the 4th or 5th best lineman on the team, and I am only talking about the starters. But, he seemed like a really good, grounded kid so you never really know. Didn't ND have a rapist on the team not so long ago? And a guy with drugs and one doing burgs? Maybe I am confusing them with another team.
-
I don't know much about LSU, but I know that Alabama is now the second ranked school in the SEC in terms of academics, ranked only under Vanderbilt. They come up to Long Island and offer big scholarships to Long Island kids. Saban built not only the football team but the basketball team, women's sports (especially softball) and the school has improved by leaps and bounds academically by the huge dollars he brings in. Listen to kids like Najee Harris, Mac Jones, Damien Harris, Jalen Hurts, and many others speak. These are not dumb jocks. I don't think that ND has an edge on Bama these days in terms of smart football players. Times have changed. As always, jmo.

OK, sure. What you say about Cincy is true (yes, they beat Notre dame) but as I said in a different post, Cincy would be an average to below average team in the SEC. They beat Notre Dame (the only decent team they played), but they also struggled against second rate teams. And while I respect Notre Dame, this is another team that needs to be challenged WAY more than they are. Now, do you think that Ohio State could beat Cincy? I sure do and if you agree, AND think that Alabama could beat them, how such sense does a playoff spot for Cincy make? How many other teams do you honestly think are better than Cincy? 10? 20? 30? Am I making sense? As for Alabama being 11-2 after Saturday, there is a very good chance that you are correct. If you feel strongly enough, maybe you should take a shot and lay 6 or 7 points to Nick Saban. I can't recall any team in the NCAA ever having lost as much talent as Alabama lost in the 2020 draft class. Can you? Can someone else chime in please? On the current roster, their 2 best players (fabulous players and Heisman contenders I might add) are both sophomores. Alabama has also lost players to injury. If the lose to Geeorgia I will not shed a tear. I'm proud of these kids. I mean after all, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide are the NCAA Champions until someone else is. 6 titles in 14 years for Saban and the Tide isn't so bad, wouldn't you agree? Btw I am against playoff expansion, and view it as an excuse to make fans of inferior teams happy. Ironically, if there were 8 playoff teams this season Alabama would almost certainly be in it. 4 and I am alot less sure unless they beat Georgia, a daunting task indeed. Anyway, I appreciate the dialogue.

And I don't understand why I sleep all day And I start to complain that there's no rain And all I can do is read a book to stay awake And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape Escape Escape Escape

Jim Sexton is about to be knocking on some doors in Tuscaloosa. If Kelly is worth 15 million, Saban is worth 25 million. There is no comparison between the two. None whatsoever. Sorry, jmo. Notre Dame recruits the same players as do the SEC schools. A friend of mine teaches high school in VA. He told me that Notre Dame was there recruiting a kid who was a great player, and also a criminal and a gang member. Notre Dame athletes all being Rhodes Scholars is a myth.

You obviously know your team better than I do. I likened your team a bit to last year's Alabama team sans Mac Jones. You seemed to have the receivers and the running game. Your QB is not Mac Jones (and btw neither is ours imo). Our OL is considerably worse than 2020. To put it in perspective, Evan Neal was our RIGHT Tackle. That line was all world. This team is getting by on pure guts and of course, Nick Saban. Once again, I hope that we meet again next year.

Maybe you had too much too fast (maybe you had too much too fast) Maybe you had too much too fast (maybe you had too much too fast) Maybe you had too much too fast (maybe you had too much too fast) Or just over played your part Nothin' shakin' on Shakedown Street, used to be the heart of town. Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart, you just gotta poke around.

Cincinatti is starting a guy who was Alabama's 5th string running back. Arkansas would destroy Cincy as would Mississippi, Mississippi State, LSU, and virtually any SEC Team. If Cincy was in the SEC they would probably struggle with Vanderbilt and lose to South Carolina and Kentucky. Other than that, your post makes a great deal of sense. 🙄😂
-
Btw, my sympathy to you and @YoloinOhio. I know how it is to come close and just miss as a Bills Fan and a Tide Fan. Taking it a step further, I thought it would be OSU vs. UGA in the title game. Hey, maybe next year it will be OSU/Crimson Tide!

Didn't Riley bench him? Why would he go there?
-
Wow, what a great way to describe the situation and this would appear to be exactly what is likely to happen. Even this might take a while. As we speak, two of the best QBs in the NCAA are from California but play in the SEC. Also, the best linemen seem to leave the west coast as well. Riley might not be able to change this with a snap of his fingers. In my very strong opinion, Sarkisian is a GREAT offensive mind. Maybe the best I have ever seen. He is really struggling in Texas (a state that surprisingly loses some good players too). That said, Sark might just be cleaning house. Is this what is happening down there?

Alabama, especially if Christian Allen comes back, will be overflowing with pass rushing, talented OLBs. One is Drew Sanders. Next year the Tde might pay you back for Jameson Williams. They have too many of these OLBs to keep them all. Wait and see.
-
Not to me. I will be a Bills Fan until the day I die. That said, it confuses and admittedly amuses me listening to the insults aimed at Mac Jones, which started even before the draft. One person in particular called him a "second or third round talent." Mac Jones will never be as talented as Josh Allen, who imo is on his way to perhaps even a HOF career. Mac however is still often talked about as if he is a second rate QB so no, it is still a Bills Board.

Can this lovin' we have found within us Ooh, suddenly exist between Did we somehow try to make it happen Ooh, was it just a natural thing I'd like to know Can you tell me, please don't tell me It really doesn't matter anyhow It's just that the thought of us so happy Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing Yes it does now, baby Questions 67 and 68

Nor am I but what I need to keep telling myself is that we are weaker at virtually every offensive position. For instance, last season Evan Neal was our RIGHT Tackle!!!! Landon Dickerson was a monster at center. Every receiver was better, Najee was twice as good as all of the current RBs, combined. The receivers were just about the best ever and Mac was THE perfect QB for that team. I must however admit that Bryce is better than Mac would be on this team. Given the above, I thought that the defense would be clearly superior to last year's unit. It has NOT been, although it looks as if they are getting better at the right time. Will Anderson FULLY belongs in the Heisman conversation and freshman Dallas Turner is looking really good on the other side. The DL played what was easily their best game last night. The only way for us to possibly beat Georgia is to force mistakes and turnovers on defense and for Bryce (and of course Saban) to work their magic. I expect Bama to be getting at least 7, and it would be a far bigger number if Saban was not taken into account. I mean, how many points will bettors want to spot Nick Saban? As always, jmo (but a strong one lol).
