Please believe me, I am not defending Gruden. I initially sided with him just a bit until the rest of his comments were aired. I don't feel sorry for him either. I am 100% sure that he received quite the bonus package, unless there was a clause in his contract that would void it over e-mails he sent 6 or 7 years before he signed it. As I said in an earlier post, I never thought Gruden was terribly intelligent. Now, what you said about the world not being fair is beyond dispute. Yet, almost all of us do use "whataboutism" when it fits our narrative. Mine is simple: There are/were 2 state governors (no names, no parties) who have done things 100x worse than writing insensitive, even mean spirited e-mails about a few multi-millionaires, 7 years ago. But once again, I have no sympathy for Gruden and don't care that he stepped down. In fact, I lean closer to being glad. I do however think that is a sad state of affairs when a stupid jerk football coach is held to higher standards than our elected officials, so yes....to totally discard "whataboutism" really isn't so easy to do these days. JMO

The above is an excellent summary. I happen to think that the comment, no matter the intent, was stupid. Very stupid and totally uncalled for. Gruden always seemed rather dumb to me. He is a smart football man but hey, Tom Cruise is a good actor and he too always struck me as something of a schmuck. I don't know if Gruden's comment, however stupid, unneccessary, and certainly insensitive was based on racial hatred. I don't know the man so I cannot make a call like that based on one idiotic comment that he made 10 years ago. His current and former players and folks from his past, and every day life are more prepared to make this determination than any of us or social media. In any event, the above bolded was 100% on point. Is is SO easy to get sanctimonious, but each of us has said something wrong and/or stupid that we regret. Once again, I am not trying to say that I know what motivated Gruden. I am saying that we shouldn't be so quick to judge others when we live in glass houses as all of us do, at least to some extent. I am going with my fiancee and she is allowing me one night to play poker, for which I am grateful lol but she wants to stay in a fancy place, which I am totally down with. The last time I played poker was a 1/5 game in Atlantic City and I kicked ass, but it was 7 card stud LOL!!! Still, I am confident that I would do well in a low stakes hold 'em game.

I think that I'm a better than average blackjack player but the last few times I have been to a casino (which is very rare), a drunk will sit to the right of the dealer and screw up the game. One guy was hitting 17 when the dealer had a 6 showing. It turned me off to blackjack.
