Pace got screwed too, whereas they just kept renewing his Franchise Tag. He held out several times too as I recall. In the end, he DID make his money. If we had a LT like Orlando Pace we would be destroying the Rams tomorrow.

You do make sense about injury shortended careers in the NFL. But as far as Bosselli being the best offensive lineman of that time span, I am saying no freaking way. Orlando Pace might be the best in any time span. Do you remember when the Rams won that Super Bowl? Warner had all week to stand in the pocket and throw. Pace opened holes for Faulk big enough for my grandmother to run through. Again, I totally agree about great careers in the NFL being cut short by injuries. That said, Pace was better than Bosselli, Walter Jones, or anyone else that I have ever seen play LT. (At RT, Erik Williams). As always, jmo.

The reporter is Charlie Leduff. He's a bit of a head case, but I am not going to doubt the validity of this story. Leduff has a podcast now and is a GREAT author. His book "Detroit" is one of my favorite books of all time.

Oh, but now old friends they're acting strange And they shake their heads and they tell me that I've changed Well something's lost, but something's gained In living every day I've looked at life from both sides now From win and lose and still somehow It's life's illusions I recall I really don't know life at all

I respectfully disagree. I make the case that due to Bosselli having such a short career, Willie Anderson was more deserving. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_Anderson_(American_football)

He's Officially "Saint Doug" Once Again

The wording in Rapoport's article is technically incorrect. Marrone was no longer the OL Coach at Alabama. In fact, a new OL Coach was already hired several days ago, Coach Wilford from Kentucky (unknown if related to Will). Marrone was already out before the new hire and word is in Alabama circles that Saban got rid of him. Btw, the 2021 Marrone coached Alabama OL was the worst I have seen in 10 or so years. Was it Marrone's fault? Not entirely. They lost Alex Leatherwood (1st round), Landon Dickerson (2nd round), and Deonta Brown (6th round). The thing is, he couldn't decide on center until he put in a sophmore after 9 or 10 games and the kid looked great. People wanted to know what took so long. Again, people claiming to have inside info say that Saban ousted Marrone. Now, do I know 100% for sure that Saban fired him? Obviously not lol. But again, I do know that another OL coach was already in place before this article. -

Cherish is the word I use to describe All the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside You don't know how many times I've wished that I had told you You don't know how many times I've wished that I could hold you You don't know how many times I've wished that I could Mold you into someone who could Cherish me as much as I, cherish you

Tbh, I have not seen enough of either of them to make a pertinent comment. I focus primarily on the SEC. I really do hope they avoid a DB in round one. Josh is GREAT and he needs and deserves more weapons and protection. If the top wrs are gone, there still might be some high quality offensive linemen left when we pick. If not, I hope that they trade out of the first round if they can get a suitable offer. I'm no expert, but I think that this draft is the worst one since perhaps 2013. As always, jmo.

Spotrac has Levi Wallace valued @ $9M/yr. Thoughts?

It has evolved no doubt but if this team doesn't protect Josh they are through. -

How many games did Gilmore win for the Bills? Oh yeah, how hard did he play? Gilmore was very talented but drafting him did not result in winning game for the Bills. -

I agree with the bolded. We have a great pair of safeties but all players get old and injured. Picking up a corner somewhere in the draft is also a sound idea. The Bills lucked out with the much maligned Wallace. I remember Calvin Ridley saying how he was a very solid player, and he practiced against him every day. I expected him to get drafted that year and was thrilled when the Bills picked him up as a UFA. That said, we are built around Josh Allen who I consider nothing less than great. He needs weapons and protection for us to have a chance at a title. As great as he is, he can't do it on his own and we really don't want him to get injured. McBeane has concentrated on defense to include passing on Mahomes; now is the time to help Josh. And btw, Wallace is a good, solid player. He works as hard as anyone GB. This man was actually a junior walk on at Bama, and played well enough to keep Trevon Diggs on the bench for a while. If he was not a good player, his contract value would not be estimated at 9 mil. Maybe they should find a way to keep him instead of buying another ticket to the first round defensive back merry go-round which never has and never will work for this team. -

This is correct Doc but drafting a first round corner (which an extrordinary amount of fans seem to actually want) doesn't automatically make him a good player. Leotis McKelvin (who took about 4 years to develop) says hi. 👍 -

I agree but history books tell another sad story. -
Why did Marv not directly replace Ted Marchiabroda?
Bill from NYC replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely correct!!!
