  1. You obviously don't know half of the story or more likely, refuse to recognize the truth. Your pointless quip about "half of the riders being alive' is utterly ridiculous. Are you making a claim that the crime rates are not WAY up? Are you tring to make any point at all or just peddle an ideology? You make it sound as if Long Island is a low income area. It isn't, nor is it unusual to pay in the area of $15K in property tax for a small cape. And btw, the people leaving the city are not your blue collar working class. They are mostly rich white people who send their kiddies to segregated private schools for 40 or 50K per year, per child. So, they can easily plunk down a cool million dollars for a house and pay 30K in property tax and come out way ahead, especially if they have multiple kids. And like you said, the opportunity to work remote changes things. It saves them the HUGE expense of the Long Island Railroad and the dangers of the subway system. As annoying as some of these above mentioned folks can be, they are the tax base. The city is in big trouble but as I said, it has bounced back before.
  2. Lilac rain, unbroken chain Song of the saw-whet owl Out on the mountain, it'll drive you insane Listening to the winds howl Unbroken chain of sorrow and pearls Unbroken chain of sky and sea Unbroken chain of the western wind Unbroken chain of you and me
  3. In this world I'm living in, I see the light Sins are gone, now I know what is wrong and right Morning came on slowly, pushing back the night It's good times now that I can see the light On this road I'm walking, on I see my way Paradise I'm living for each and every day 'Bout the crossroads of the past, nothing more to say It's good times now but we can see our way
  4. I did mean Peters. Thanks for the correction.
  5. Sorry that I stole Kinnard in this round. He would be a superb fit for the Bills imo.
  6. How would you feel about trading down and picking up a #1 for 2023 in the process?
  7. I don't follow every blocker on every team so I will point to 2 more with the Bills. In 2001, we drafted Jonas Jennings in round 3 from UGA. In college he played at center and guard, as well as some time at tackle. He started at RT for the Bills and was surprisingly good to the extent that they moved him to LT where he also stood out, to the extent that the 49ers signed him to a huge (for that time period) contract. His career was then cut short by assorted serious injuries, In 2004, we signed a player named Jason Peters from the Giants Practice Squad. where he was coached by Jumbo Elliot. Mr. Elliot noticed his unusual strength and had a hand in his being moved to tackle. How do I know this? Because Jumbo told me this in person. The Bills moved him to RT where he was a flat out monster and then to LT, where he was the best player on the team and STILL is doing well in 2022. Do note that we let both of these players leave, which does account to an extent for my aversion to the ways that the Bills typically draft. As I said, I am unable to account for every tackle on every team. I also happen to think that you are a good poster. I have no quarrel with you, nor do I wish to engage you in some silly arguement. Peace.
  8. Albert was drafted in 2008 after having never played OT an UVA. He played 9 years in the NFL through the 2016 season and was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2015. The rule changes that greatly impacted the NFL took place in 2010. Do you really not consider this "modern" or was your post just a lead in to a joke that was marginally funny at best?
  9. Branden Albert.
  10. Yes and the Levy/Jauron years were worse yet.
  11. The Patriots select Darian Kinard - Guard - Kentucky Kinnard was a successful LT at Kentucky who is projected to guard in the NFL. He was coached by Eric Wolford who did so well that Alabama got rid of Doug Marrone and hired Wolford to replace him. More protection for Jones and blocking for the ground game. I am surprised that he lasted this long. I almost didn't select him because I wanted him to be in the Bills poll lol. @aristocrat is on the clock.
  12. This thread belongs in PPP. It is impossible to explain what has happened in NYC without getting into politics to some degree, and I'm not willing to go there. What I feel like I can say is that thousands of people are leaving NYC. Houses on Long Island are selling for at least 5% over the asking prices. There are bidding wars on houses, sight unseen. I know this to be true; my daughter bought one. In addition to Long Island, folks are moving to Florida, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and other states. In NYC, the crime rates are soaring in every category and the city is filthy. You are putting your life on the line riding on the subway. People (mainly women, Asians, and Hasidic Jews) are getting stabbed and tossed onto the train tracks. I could go on, but not without sounding political. It will take the city years to recover, assuming that it will (it usually does).
  13. How much cap space would his retirement save/cost?
  14. In 2008, my friend @RRich told me that Brandon Albert coming out of UVA would be an all time great guard. I believed him and was 100% sold and was SO hoping that the Bills would draft him. Of course, we did not. Instead we took CB Leotis McKelvin at #11. OT Ryan Clady went next at 12, Albert went at #15. McKelvin took several years to be decent. Albert (who played guard his entire college career) turned out to be a fine LEFT TACKLE in the NFL. My point? I believe that drafting a first round guard is not a good move in almost every case. But, if a GM really does believe that there is a Larry Allen type HOF guard out there, drafting him in round 1 would be a wise move, especially on a team (like the 2008 Bills mind you) that has a critical shortage of good blockers. As always, JMO.
  15. I can pull up by the curb, I can make it on the road, Goin' mobile I can stop in any street And talk with people that we meet Goin' mobile Keep me moving, mmm
  16. Like an old dusty road I get weary from the load Movin' on, movin' on Like this tired troubled earth I've been rollin' since my birth Movin' on, movin' on There's a place in the sun Where there's hope for everyone Where my poor restless heart's gotta run I know there's a place in the sun And before my life is done Gotta find me a place in the sun
  17. Good one! My daughter sent me a text of a post from Saturday Down South saying that Nick Saban announced his retirement at the end of this season. I had just woke up so she had me for a minute or so LOL! That's my honey!
  18. Yeah he is one of those guys who can make these monster acrobatic catches but can sometimes (not consistently) drop an easy one. The thing is, he can take it to the house in a second. I can't recall anyone catching up with him from behind, and he doesn't need to angle into the endzone to escape defenders. Just pure blinding speed.
  19. Maybe. Saban seems to really want him. Right now they have a sophmore who looks good (Jalen Milroe) and a 5 Star Freshman who looks great (Ty Simpson). Simpson reminds me of a bit of a bigger Doug Flutie with a better arm. He isn't as much of a runner as he is a scrambler. He graduated early and came to Tuscaloosa a couple of months ago and is already working out. I can't think of any possible way that Bryce Young will be back in 2023 so it will be interesting.
  20. And now A quarter of my life is almost past I think I've come to see myself at last And I see that the time spent confused Was the time that I spent without you And I feel myself in bloom So, darling, be home soon I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled My darling, be home soon It's not just these few hours, but I've been waiting since I toddled For the great relief of having you to talk to
  21. Yep. This would be a great way for the Bills to alienate a great QB.
  22. I get and respect your point. My response is twofold: 1) As I said, this draft sucks as compared to almost every draft I have ever seen. Of course, this is jmo. 2) What happens if we mortgage the future for a player who gets hurt or busts out? Where does that leave us? We really got screwed when Whaley gave away the store for Watkins. Again, I hope that we are above this Whaley type of undisciplined stupidity. PS: I would be thrilled if we traded down.
  23. I really hope that the Bills do NOT trade their first round pick in 2023. This draft sucks. It is the worst that I have seen in many years. I cannot imagine the 2023 draft not being better than this one. Trading away picks from 2023 would be a move that would be reminiscent to the Whaley type of lack of discipline and sheer incompetence. I'm hoping that we are finally above this.
  24. He seems to. He must be a really nice guy because as the Jets coach he stood on the sideline with a weird smile for the entire game.
