Robert Randolph & The Family Band - Review
Phlegm Alley replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw them open up for Clapton a couple of years ago not expecting to witness what I did. They were phenomenal with a capital PHE. At the conclusion of their set, just to show how talented they were as musicians, they each alternated instruments, like rotations in volleyball. Each one would play the drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards for about 5 minutes. RR blew Clapton away when he came out during Clapton's set. Seeing them for $10 is a steal and I would love it if they came to NYC with those same prices. -

Love the announcer: "Boom, he really fills the hole right there." Yeah right buddy. More like a complete swing and a miss right there by old #70. WM is like WTF?!?! -
The Texans drafted OT Winston and OG Charles Spencer I believe. The also got a couple of pass rushers in the first 2 rounds and have a great offensive coach in Kubiak and they also have Mike Sherman on their staff. I think they upgraded immensely this offseason and may have surpassed the Bills in doing so.

I wonder if we keep 6 recievers but Aiken remains on ST, only to be the #5 in case of an injury. -
I wonder if there have been any Mr. Irrelevants that have gone on to have moderate success in the NFL.

Simple Question. Now that the draft is over,
Phlegm Alley replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We may go after a June 1st cut but I don't see this team going after older vets. If you look at their strategy in FA, they were targeting younger linemen. Unless a young lineman somehow gets cut, I really don't see us being active during the June 1st cut period. -
This Draft was designed to stop Tom Brady
Phlegm Alley replied to Nick in RaChaCha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I concur. Beating the teams that comprise more than a third of your schedule every single year is one way to get into the playoffs and winning your division. I just don't think that our D-Line will be able to generate much pressure a la the Chicago Bears and get to the QB. Hopefully Anderson will improve on his performance from last year and we stay healthy in the trenches. -
Pat Kirwan on Sirius evaluated the Bills Draft

I am hoping that the OSU guys will push each other now that they are rookies in the NFL. Hopefully NC and TA will also take them under their wings because they are Buckeyes as well. -

I really don't know--Aiken has been pretty stellar on ST and one of the reasons that we have excelled in that facet of the game over the last few years. I do like Nance's size and big play capability that he has shown. Hopefully he has a good camp and could push one of the WRs looking to be #5, #6 on the team. -

Bills | Team signs UDFA D. Ming Sun, 30 Apr 2006 21:55:24 -0700 The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Buffalo Bills have signed undrafted rookie free agent LB Derrick Ming (Missouri). -
I wouldn't think so either, in regards to double digit sack totals, but he still needs someone on the other side to compliment him. He may be able to obtain the initial burst off the line once he gets some NFL coaching from Mike Sherman. Smart pick--its kinda like dating the girl that as a good job, average looks, but a killer personality. Bush would have been a "vanity" pick.
-
Balls?!?! They have a decent RB in Domanick Davis and with EM (after raping the Bills for him) along side Andre Johnson, they should have a pretty good offense if they can get a decent OLine. Kubiak should be able to make the most of DD's abilities as he has done with the Denver's offensive no name RB juggernaut. They can still address o-line with their 2nd rd pick. W/ Mario, they now have a pass rush in the making.
-
IMO, this was the smarter pick than Bush. If he is anything like Julius Peppers, he would have a much more impact on the team then a RB with a shelf life of 6 years.

Jets looking to trade up from 2nd first rounder.
Phlegm Alley replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup--I heard this on Mike and Mike in the morning. IIRC, they mentioned that Ngata would be a consideration with their first pick. -
I know various backers clubs are meeting in their respective geographical locales for the draft, and I was wondering if anyone in NYC is going to be meeting up at McFaddens to partake in the National Football League's annual player selection meeting?

Balancing Offense and Defense in Draft
Phlegm Alley replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a trade with St. Louis who moved up from #11 to #8. They take Cutler or Huff and we are still in a justifiable position to take Justice with the #11. -
Seeing as how we finished 28th overall on offense and 29th overall on defense last year, we obviously have some glaring holes to be filled in the draft. ToDo spent the majority of the last few years drafting on the offenseive side of the ball with very little success statistically. Yes, we do need significant help in the trenches, but on which side of the ball is considered more important? With 10 picks in the upcoming draft, I want to know how many picks should be utilized for each side of the ball. I feel that if we draft an OT and an OG early (Justice in the first and Joseph, Latui, or Jean-Gilles in the second), we could have the makings of a solid o-line. Justice-2nd rd pick-Fowler-Villareal-Peters If we sign Reyes, we'll have him, Anderson, Gibson, Preston, Geisenger, Jerman adding quality depth. With our talent at the WR and RB skill positions, JPL could blossum behind a stellar line with the line giving WM holes to run through as well. This would give us a potentially dangerous Offense. Jauron is a defensive minded coach, which makes me think that we may draft more on the defensive side of the ball. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE A DT with our #8 pick, esp Ngata, who would only be on the field for first and second downs while getting paid #8 $$$. IMO, you draft O-Line early to aid in the deveolpment of your investment in your young QB, then finish out the draft on the Defensive side of the ball. Pat Williams, afterall, went undrafted and has become one of the best DTs in the game. Hopefully, we can trade down as well, and still get Justice PLUS an additional 1st day pick that can be used for D-Line. 4 picks offensive (OT, OG, RB, OT) in that order of importance 7 picks defensive (DT, DT, CB, S, DE, LB, LB) in that order of importance This is what my mock would look like: Trade #8 to St. Louis for pick #11 and #46 1-Justice-OT 2a-Joseph, Latui, Jean-Gilles (whoever is rated higher and still available)-OG 2b-Gabe Watson-DT 3a-John McCargo-DT 3b-Alan Zemaitis-CB 4-Anthony Smith-S 5a-Julian Jenkins-DE 5b-Spencer Havner-OLB 6-Cory Ross-RB 7a-Michael D'Andrea-ILB 7b-Mark Levoir-OT

first 8 picks and then the rest of the draft
Phlegm Alley replied to frogger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the idea of drafting a Rochester native--hometown hero who, if successful in the long run, would give us a hometown discount in the future unlike our current #1 CB. The same would be for S Anthony Davis from Syroacuse, depending on what we do with our first and second round picks, I think he would be a steal in the third. -

Bills tidbit in today's ESPN Insider
Phlegm Alley replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cleveland has been said to be eyeing one of the DTs at the #8 spot. I agree that Huff may be a reach at #8 but isn't that what they were saying about Roy Williams when he was drafted at the #8 spot the year that we the fat lazy retard MW? I don't think that he would be there at #12 if we swapped with Cleveland. If that were to happen, maybe Justice or either Bunkley or Ngata will still be available if we swapped. I think Fewell, who was a DB when he played in the league, might be able to teach proper technique when it comes to tackling. I am not saying that defended passes are pedestrian, and I agree that they are the bread and butter of an NFL DB, but I certainly wouldn't consider them highlight material.
