JETS COLTS GAMETIME THREAD

Big Ben got sacked and NFL high 50 times this year and still had the 5th best passer rating in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers got sacked 50 times this year and he had the 4th best passer rating in the NFL. O-line play is an enigma. Good coaching and good scheming to put your players in a chance to succeed is paramount to o-line play.
-
I'm not saying that a good QB crosses out a bad o-line. It really helps though. Peyton Manning has been sacked once every 57 times he drops back to pass. Is this a product of the o-line that the Colts have built, mostly through undrafted FAs and late round draft picks, or a result of Peyton Manning being the QB?
-
He does satisfy the age requirement.
-
This league is favorable to teams with good QBs. Have a good QB and you're guaranteed to be a contender for a long time. If you were to tell me that you think the QBs in this draft aren't to your liking, I could live with that, but to say that we shouldn't go after a QB until the o-line is fixed, I have a serious problem with that. I know o-line is important, but the QB makes the o-line just as much as the o-line makes the QB. Look at Peyton Manning and his offensive line. He has only been sacked 10 times this entire year. His starting offensive line consists of: LT: Charlie Johnson: Drafted in the 6th round and he is starting over Tony Ugoh, who was a 2nd round pick. LG; Ryan Lilja; Undrafted FA originally signed by KC C: Jeff Saturday: Undrafted FA RG: Kyle DeVan: Undrafted FA RT: Rian Diem: 4th Round Pick I got this information from the Colts official site. Only 2 of their lineman have been drafted and the highest of those two was a 4th round pick?! You don't need to draft an o-line to make this team better. You need to find a QB that can make quick reads and get rid of the ball faster as well as a coaching staff that can put together a system that will put the players in the best position to succeed.

Why do people think there is no franchise QB in the draft, but there is somehow going to be a franchise LT available at #9?

I got throttled for posting a picture of a homely woman in a hot girl thread in the past, so I think you should be called out for posting that.

I saw a pilot for the show a few months ago and I was really impressed. Really funny stuff.

Just heard an MTV Jersey Shore reference being talked about in the press room. -
Anyone got tonight's Syracuse hoops score?
Phlegm Alley replied to Lori's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The great shooting by Rautins in the first half allowed the Orange to work the ball underneath a lot in the 2nd half. Onuaku was a force because Rautins and Triche were both able to penetrate and make some great passes. Onuaku was also surprisingly good at the free throw line. Rafferty said that there were 26 scouts in attendance at last night's game which was the most in Joyce Center Fieldhouse history and Rafferty mentioned that a number of them were there to see the expecteds (Wes Johnson, who is a potential lottery pick, and Luke Harangody), but a number of them were saying how impressive Triche looks as a true freshman. The future looks bright for Syracuse basketball with the emergence of Triche (Fr.) and Kris Joseph (So.) and with the great recruiting class they have coming in next year with Fabricio Melo (a 7 ft center ranked #20 as far as HS recruits are concerned), Baye Moussa Keita (a 6'11" center), C.J. Fair (a 6'7" small forward), and the most promising recruit of them all, Dion Waiters (a 6'4" shooting guard who is the #14 ranked high schooler in the nation). They're only going to get stronger as far as I'm concerned. -
PFT: Schefter reporting that Jones is likely to extend Phillips for two more years.
-
With the news that the Cowboys are thinking about extending Phillips, maybe Gerrett would be more willing to leave his post in Dallas as OC to become a HC I would much prefer Garret to Frazier because of his similarities to Sean Peyton.

Leslie Frazier choice is starting to sound VERY good

Eagles will listen to offers for Mcnabb
Phlegm Alley replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is likely going to McNabb's last contract and with the way Favre and Warner have been playing well this late in their careers, I think that they (the McNabb camp) would ask for at least the 4th year and there is no way he would sign a contract for less than the $10 million he is due to make next year. He is going to command at least $10 million on the open market because one thing that is going to have to happen for the two sides to agree on a trade is the fact that the team that McNabb would be traded to would have to agree on a contract extension first. -

His salary ($10 million) is going to be a hindrance in trying to get rid of him. A team has to be willing to pay for that and will more than likely have to sign him to an extension. With that said, I think it will be somewhere in the area of a 2nd/3rd and a 4th/5th. Would the Bills be willing to re-sign him to an extension? Probably not. If the Bills were just a piece away from getting over the hump of being an elite team, I would be all for it, but this team has bigger needs than trading for a 33 year old QB in the last year of his contract and is going to require an extension in the neighborhood of 4-5 years and $45 million +. -
I'm somewhere caught in between. On one hand, I think this coaching search is one of the most important times in the life of this franchise and who they get as a HC could go a long way into restoring this franchise to a level above mediocrity. So far, it hasn't looked to good on the surface with all the rumors of top level assistants across the league declining to interview for the job. On the other hand, when the Bills hire their next coach, I will be patient to see what this new guy and the new regime will institute into the franchise rather than look at the hire at face value.

Living down here in Philly, I regularly listen to sports talk radio and the fans, along with sports talk personalities want McNabb out of there. They point to the fact that winning seasons is not good enough and all those playoff appearances have yet to result in a SB win. -
You should pick up a copy of my new book titled "Hookers Are Cheaper than Children". Its a how to book to help people like yourself who have become disenchanted with women in similar situations like yourself. I know we all seek out companionship, but sometimes, you might be better off without it. Good luck Frogger. Go to a bar and watch the game and maybe you'll meet a "friend" as you so eloquently put it.

Seriously. After going up by 10 with under 2 to play, I thought that it was easy victory from there. But one thing that has been perpetual with a Boeheim coached team is the fact that they cannot shoot free throws. It was a guard dominated game with the big guys coming up with some shots when needed, but I didn't see the same energy that I have seen in games past. Maybe a lot of it had to do with the fact that Wes Johnson was under the weather. A win is a win none the less and to do it in a volatile environment is key, especially in conference. -

I heard he declined. -
Pretty much the equivalent to the older sibling telling me that Santa was just a giant lie before I was ready to hear it.

Just how delicious is Frank's RedHot hot sauce?
Phlegm Alley replied to Mr. Dink's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I hate that "fresh" taste in my mouth after I brush my teeth, so I usually rinse with Frank's and I feel fan-freakin-tastic! -
I hadn't realized how proximal Harrison's "Playmakers" bar is to me: only 4.5 miles and just two blocks north of where a good friend lives (she lives on 25th and Poplar Street, which is on the cusp of being on the wrong side of the tracks). The article also mentions a youtube clip with Harrison and Suzy Kolber, and i was completely surprised that at the end of the clip, Harrison mentions that when he is home in Philadelphia, he gets a cheese steak from "Delassandro's in Roxborough", which is exactly 3 blocks away from my residence. I thought that was pretty crazy.
