We have already seen scenarios play out in Philly in the first 6 weeks of the season for Philly not to trade one of their QB's. With both experiencing injuries already this year, I am confident Andy Reid won't be trading one or the other unless it is for a King's ransom.

I would love this draft Senator and I share your affinity with Mallet being a franchise QB for this team. I hope he declares so the Bills will be in position to draft him. Same thing with Carimi. I have watched a couple of Wisconsin games this year and he is solid in every phase of the game. Thanks for this. One of the greatest displays of pure aggresion and protecting of a QB I have ever seen. Something like this goes real far in the locker room.

Demarcus Love, LT, Arkansas
Phlegm Alley replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny that 4 of the 5 people that you mention are once in a generation types of players. Chances of finding one of those guys next year, let alone in the next decade are almost zero. Temper your expectations and pray they will be in a position to select someone who will be evolve into a solid contributor over the foreseeable future. Also, chances of trading down are slim. Maybe in a couple of years if they put a cap on rookie salaries, but right now, the only way a team moves up to a top 3 pick is if it is for a player who is a can't miss prospect, which is someone the Bills should be taking anyways. -
And with the #1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft...
Phlegm Alley replied to NixFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if the Panthers have the first pick, do you think they would select a QB after they invested a 2nd round pick on Clausen and drafted Pike in the 7th? I'm not sure. Another prospect a lot of people aren't talking about is Pat Develin out of Delaware. He was originally recruited by Penn State and transfered after not getting playing time. I was talking to a guy who coached him at Downingtown PA and he apparently is a great guy, great QB, and would be starting at Penn State this year if he didn't transfer. Here is a link to a story about how poorly Penn State handled their QB situation a couple of years ago: Link -
Bills have 1st crack at Merriman.
Phlegm Alley replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have the Bills abandoned the base 3-4 for the year? If so, signing Merriman and expecting him to cover athletic TE's and RB's out of the backfield as a SAM might not be putting him in a position to succeed. -
It is Lynch's 2nd week with his new team...were you guys expecting him to tear it up against one of the better rush defenses in the league on the road?

They have Subways in Alaska? -
I know that Austin has been suspended, but he was considered one of the top players at his position. What are the chances that his stock drops that much come NFL draft time?

Surprised Genny Cream Ale isn't on that list.

If Moss goes for a 3rd rounder or lower...
Phlegm Alley replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this trade goes down, the Pats will then have the Raiders' 1st, the Panthers' 2nd, and the Vikings' 3rd round draft picks. They are only going to get better and younger. -
12000 tickets available for Sundays game
Phlegm Alley replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm surprised there aren't more available. -
I too also care if the Bills lose and looks like sh*t while doing it. Doesn't make me a good football player. Doesn't make me a leader either.

Keep Lynch. He is only 24, young, talented, and his running style is the perfect compliment to Spillers. Last week, our RBs only had 9 combined carries. The Bills can't divide that kind of workload between 3 RBs. The one they should be feilding phone calls and offers for is Freddie. I love Freddie, but of all the players on this team, he deserves better. Coming off a 1,000 yard season, he has barely sniffed the field this year, but has shown he can get the job done.

Billick & Martz or Marty & Son - both were interested
Phlegm Alley replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would've preferred some Marty Ball with Nix as the GM based on their previous relationship and the fact that I think Marty Ball would be a good way to successfully turn around this franchise. But as The Senator eluded to, I just don't think that Marty had any interest. Maybe he would've if he knew he was coming into a situation not as dire as what the Bills situation was because we know that Marty is a little long in the tooth. I have faith that Gailey can get the job done, but it is akin to giving a man a screwdriver and asking him to change a tire. -
I know that Mallett has some flaws, but to say he is inaccurate after he has completed 68.8% of his passes this year, which is 11th in all of FBS. Luck, on the other hand, has completed 62.8% of his passes, which is good for 45th in FBS. luck has only thrown 10 more passes in 1 extra game because Mallett was on a bye. You also talk about the guy's mobility. Would you consider Big Ben mobile? I wouldn't but the guy can move around in the pocket because of good footwork. I have seen this presence in Mallett as well. He might not be able to rip off a 20 yard run, but he can definitely buy a few extra seconds in the pocket because of his footwork and pocket presence to allow his receiver to get open. As far as comparing him to Ryan Leaf and his personality is just pure speculation and opinion and a statement like that holds no water when attempting to make an argument about whether or not the guy is draftable. Please, stick to the facts.

What position would you draft...
Phlegm Alley replied to FightinIrishBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there wasn't a blue chip QB available after everything was said and done, I would take either LT, or, arguably the greatest WR prospect to come around since Randy Moss, and that is AJ Green. I think come draft time, you are going to see him be the prospect with the highest 1st round grade. He really does have everything you look for in a WR and that is the speed, the physicality, the route running ability, and most importantly, the hands. I watched Gabe Carimi today, the LT from Wisconsin, and he looked every bit as dominant as he was made out to be. Very physical in the run game being able to blow his guy off the ball through the end of the play, and he was a wall in pass protection. I would then draft on the lines. We would probably suck again next year, but this would put us in position to draft one of the top QBs in the 2012 draft where you will have (if they decide not to declare for this year's draft) Mallet, Terrell Pryor, Cam Newton from Auburn, Jacory Harris in Miami, potentially Matt Barkley from USC, or Nick Foles from Arizona. Next year is shaping up to be a pretty good year for QBs. -
Tonight is must see TV for Bills Nation
Phlegm Alley replied to Teddy_Daniels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Had I not opened this thread this morning, I would've had no idea this kid was going to be considered an NFL QB. He has some tools, but the deep ball isn't one of them. On one pass, he severely threw a wide open receiver on a flag route with what can only be described as a wounded duck. The ball ended up getting picked off, which lead to a OK St TD that gave them the lead 28-21. Had he thrown a decent ball there, it would've been a TD for sure. -
My boss lives in Marlton/Cherry Hill. Small world.

I think that Mallett compares favorably to Brady. His build, his arm, and from what I have seen, he is a leader in the huddle and on the sidelines. He leads all of FBS in passing yardage, 2nd in yards per attempt, and he is top 15 in completion percentage at 68.8%, which could be higher if not for his receivers dropping some balls in the 4th quarter on Saturday. He is a QB that can take a team and put them on his shoulders, but would need adequate protection to become elite. Luck is a different type of QB, one with an awful lot of potential, but as far as which one is more NFL ready, I would have to say Mallett. Luck is a great teammate and leads his team with superior athleticism. He appears to be more willing to take off and run than stay in the pocket and wait for something to open up downfield. He reminds me of Aaron Rodgers, but I question Luck's current ability to be able to read a defense.
-
Luck has 2 more years of eligibility. I really don't think he comes out. Mallett is looking like the real deal though. Just on this drive, as the announcers have pointed out, his footwork, and his height allowed him to make a couple of plays just on that last drive alone.

Kevin Kolb Anyone?
Phlegm Alley replied to Billshank Redemption's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see it being something this organization would consider doing. Plus Kolb just signed an extension making him one of the higher paid QBs in the league. He has already had one concussion this year. Remember how Trent deteriorated after he had his concussion against the Cards. -
Here is a link to the video of the interview. Pretty funny how animated Singeltary becomes. I just don't think this man can maintain this for very long without his heart exploding. Singeltary TV interview

I watched the very first episode on Hulu last night, and I was very unimpressed with it as well. The promos that they are running for are enough to get me to watch it tonight though.

I was in San Diego a couple of weeks ago, and my g/f and I went to the Gaslamp District and stumbled on the Gaslamp Tavern. We were sitting outside, when I looked up, and in the doorway, there was a Buffalo Bills flag in the doorway. That's when I knew that I was supposed to be there. If I was in San DIego on SUnday, I would check out the Gaslamp Tavern.
