  1. Unofficial 4.58 40 yard dash time for Cam.
  2. Are you talking about the Giants team that beat the Paytoilets a couple of years ago or the Giants team that beat the Bills 20 years ago?
  3. A bird in hand is better than two in the bush Thoner. You can hold out until next year, but what are the odds that we finish with a worse record than we did this year? They were pretty bad last year in a lot of different areas, but you have to think they will win more games next year, no?
  4. Fitzpatrick will never improve his completion percentage. He is a career 57.8% passer, with his highest mark of 59.4% in 2008. I don't think that Fitz is terrible, but I don't think he is a "franchise" guy that is going to somehow "figure it out" and complete 65% of his passes and have 7.5 YPC and lead the Bills to a Super Bowl.
  5. I wouldn't take Ponder anywhere in this draft. He has a weak arm and it showed during the Senior Bowl.
  6. 2nd Rounders Drew Brees, Purdue Quincy Carter, Georgia Marques Tuiasosopo, Washington Kellen Clemens, Oregon Travaris Jackson, Alabama St. Kevin Kolb, Houston John Beck, BYU Drew Stanton, Michigan Brian Brohm, Louisville Chad Henne, Michigan Pat White, West Virginia Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame 3rd Rounders: Giovanni Carmazzi, Hofstra Chris Redman, Louisville Josh McCown, Sam Houston St. Dave Ragone, Louisville Chris Simms, Texas Matt Schaub, Virginia Charlie Frye, Akron Andrew Walter, Arizona St. David Greene, Georgia Charlie Whitehurst, Clemson Brodie Croyle, Alabama Trent Edwards, Stanford Kevin O’Connell, San Diego St. Colt McCoy, Texas Armanti Edwards, Appalachian State Since 2000, there have only been 2 clear cut starters that happen to be Pro Bowl players, and one potentially decent starter in Kolb. The jury is still out on McCoy and Clausen and whether or not they can become franchise guys. And if Brees were drafted in this years draft at his draft position in 2000, he would have been a 1st round pick because of expansion. The odds of finding your "franchise" QB in these 2 rounds is a paltry 8.3%. In that same time period the QBs drafted in the 1st round are as such: Chad Pennington Mike Vick David Carr Joey Harrington Patrick Ramsey Carson Palmer Byron Leftwich Kyle Boller Rex Grossman Eli Manning Philip Rivers Ben Roethlisberger J.P. Losman Alex Smith Aaron Rodgers Jason Campbell Vince Young Matt Leinart Jay Cutler JaMarcus Russell Brady Quinn Matt Ryan Joe Flacco Matt Stafford Mark Sanchez Josh Freeman Sam Bradford Tim Tebow Of the 28 QBs selected in the 1st round since 2000, 14 of them are franchise guys, with the jury still being out on Tebow. Obviously, most starters and "franchise" QBs are found in the 1st round, but as a trend, it appears that selecting a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round is a waste of a draft pick. Which leads me to everyone talking about Fitzpatrick being a QB that could get better given how much he improved last year, but the stats don't lie: 2008-09: 21 starts. 20 TDs, 19 INTs, 58.1% completion rate, 5.8 YPC. 2010: 13 starts. 23 TDs, 15 INTs, 57.8 completion rate, 6.8 YPC Other than a slight bump in TDs, due in large part to the Bills offense only producing six(6) f'cking RUSHING TDs, and a YPC stat that ebbs and flows (for comparisons sake Colt McCoy had a 7.1 YPC last year...do you think he will maintain that over his career?), why are we heralding Fitz, who still has a career 12-23 record, as a guy that can lead this franchise for years to come? Don't get me wrong...I think Fitz is a good place holder while we groom the potential "franchise" guy that the Bills select with the 3rd overall pick in this year's draft, but if people think he is going to be anything beyond that, they need to get their heads checked.
  7. He also only did 21 reps of 225 lbs, which is a huge red flag.
  8. They have to sign Peyton Manning to a long term deal and they need to pay him. Obviously they would have liked to have kept Sanders, but were hesitant to pay him the $$$ owed to him because they go lack of production from him because of the time he had missed. No question that he is a risk, but he also has a very high reward. I would rather see the team take a gamble on an injury prone Sanders than to re-sign Whitner, a known quantity who hasn't shown much in his career. We would still have Ralph's son George as a backup, who was arguably better than Whitner in the first place.
  9. I would run the risk of potentially signing a player who the front office deems an upgrade to a position on one of the worst defenses last year and him staying healthy for an entire year than re-sign Whitner and be exposed to the same mediocrity that this defense has had since he was drafted. They are doing it with Merriman, and hopefully, they get it done with Sanders. It could be what is needed to give the defense the identity that they need. Everyone here should agree that Sanders is much better against the run than Whitner, who seemed smallish and wiry, compared to Sanders. This would allow Byrd to do his thing and be a hawk. Bottom Line: if you see the opportunity to get better at a position on a defense that was as bad as they were, you do it and you don't think about "what if..."
  10. Not saying that I am an ardent supporter of Newton, but the one year that he started in D1, he won the Heisman Trophy, lead his team to a National Championship, and dominated the competition to have one of the greatest seasons a college football player has ever had. Maybin, OTOH, didn't dominate nearly as thoroughly as Newton did. There were some games he was completely ineffective.
  11. The reason why Bob Sanders was cut was because the Colts have to re-sign Peyton Manning, who is due a lot of coin this offseason. I'm sure his propensity for being injured made it easier to cut him.
  12. Guys named Cam with our first 2 picks. That has to be some kind of a feat.
  13. The Yankees.
  14. He won't succeed in the NFL because his first name is "Blaine". Just ask the Gabbert detractors.
  15. It almost sounds fake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcm0k9mQKPg
  16. Never really was a FF fan, but I like the fact they got Remy to at least drive the limo.
  17. Even though a lot of people on this board seem to think he would be a reach, what if he has a solid combine, like his solid Senior Bowl, to complete his solid senior season? He will not doubt rocket up the draft boards, much like Tyson Jackson from LSU did a couple of years ago when he was drafted by the Chiefs, thus justifying his top 5 draft status.
  18. Something tells me the nickel is going to be more prominently displayed in the new uniforms. Maybe more of a side stripe, but based on the color scheme that is displayed on the BB.com home page, something tells me this may be the case.
  19. While they're at it, maybe they can return to the red endzones too. We haven't made the playoffs since the uniform change
  20. The Super Bowl has turned into a political/patriotic ploy by the NFL to perpetually honor the armed forces and the government for quite some time. It was on display more this year than in previous years, with the reading of the Declaration of Independence, to Sal Giunta being honored in the back of the endzone (hell, even the Glee chick got a stage to stand on), the acceptance speech of the Walter Payton MOTY award in the Persian Gulf with members of the military waving Terrible Towels and wearing Cheesheads, the the obligatory F-15 flyover of a closed roof stadium that wasn't even visible to any of the players, coaches, or fans inside the stadium. IMHO, having the game over President's Day weekend would accomplish a couple of things; give people a day off after the culmination of a long season and tie in how political/patriotic the Super Bowl has become. Maybe they could even have a Rep/Dem football scrimmage, or execute a terrorist at halftime...I just think there is more potential with the 3-day weekend. Thoughts?
  21. This would tie in nicely if they decide to lengthen the season to 18 games and have the Super Bowl over President's Day weekend, which would be better IMHO.
  22. This doesn't even include Frank Zombo, who was undrafted and started from day 1.
  23. If they think that AJ Green is as good, if not better than Larry Fitzgerald or Clavin Johnson, you take him. I know that WR is not the greatest position of need, however as others have pointed out, if you draft at a position of need, and not BPA, you run the risk of "reaching" for a guy. From what I have read, Green is one of the best WR prospects to come out in years. You can get good value later in the draft with other WRs, like Baldwin, whom Wannstedt recruited and fits the type of WR Buddy covets (Vincent Jackson). But they have shown in year one of this regime that they will take BPA.
