WR Percy Harvin's first visit is with Bills
Phlegm Alley replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's pretty clear that this team is establishing an identity to run the ball and stop the run, then field position becomes part of the game plan. People are placing too much emphasis on Harvin the WR, but I have yet to see anyone dispel what he is capable of in the return game. Just look at what he did against the Broncos in the Super Bowl. He will be able to provide some wrinkles in the passing/running game, but he is more than just that, IMO, and worth the risk. -
Give us your overall impression of Sammy Watkins
Phlegm Alley replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd give him a 7 right now as well, but like others, I do believe he can be a future all-pro, maybe as soon as next year. I was pretty high on him after the Jets game, but then he completely disappeared for the entire month of November, to the detriment of this team's playoff chances. Much of this has to do with scheme, as Hackett hasn't done enough to get the ball in the hands of this team's play makers, especially with liabilities along the OLine, there were several missed opportunities to throw quick screens to Sammy, and let his YAC take over and keep D's honest. -
4th and 10 at the 15
Phlegm Alley replied to Bills Fan since '64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They probably did decide that it was 4 down territory, and they wanted to potentially preserve valuable game clock, thus, throwing the ball 4 straight times. -
Good to see the Ravens bailing out Goodell, the NFL.

Where to Watch Bills Games In Philadelphia
Phlegm Alley replied to cr02pica's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McFadden's is a great place to watch the game. In addition, Michelle who runs the Philly Bills Backers and is a producer for NFL Films, usually has raffles throughout the game because she comes into Bills gear so regularly because of her position. -
Vegas has released their win total projections...
Phlegm Alley replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The teams with the highest odds last year, in the eyes of Vegas, came to fruition, as they correctly picked the NFL's Final Four, based on odds. -
Sammy Watkins Vs. Ohio State
Phlegm Alley replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Production is similar, but JJ's measurables, for a WR 2 inches taller carrying 15 more pounds of weight, are of someone from a different planet. Granted, measurables don't account for production or raw natural talent, but for a game of inches that the NFL has become, mean A LOT. Especially at the WR pos. -
Sammy Watkins Vs. Ohio State

I love Sammy and think he is going to be great for the Bills, but JJ is on a different planet than Sammy. -

Run defense is still a problem
Phlegm Alley replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm thinking this was a major reason why as well. It seemed they were better in the first half, but 2nd half there were some big holes for their backs to run through. -
Anyone coming to Made in America Festival this weekend?

You know I'll be there Pooj. Both days. Hit me up! -
The Bills just drafted a QB in the 1st Round...He is going to be starting on Opening Day. If he does great, awesome. If not, the front office still can play the "the QB class was a weak one this year", and hopefully, move on knowing they still picked up a couple of potential starters in this draft. If EJ shows no progress, bide your time until the Bills are drafting in the top 10 for a draft that has a lot of QB talent, and try it all over again.

Brandon was quoted as saying that the UDFA process is like "Wall Street trading" yesterday. So I am sure there is a lot of negotiations and recruiting going on behind the scenes.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but it talks about how drafting or signing players with checkered pasts is worth it. Da'Rick is featured in the article along with Mathieu and Ogletree. http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2013/04/nfl_draft_study_says_its_worth.html

Reasons This Has Been an AMAZING Draft
Phlegm Alley replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team reminds me of the early 90's Oilers. -
Me: Babe, more people watch the NFL draft than the MLB Playoffs and the NBA Playoffs. Her: That's what's wrong with America.

Don Banks Post Combine Mock - Geno Smith

If we get Austin and either Nassib or Barkley, we would be winners of the draft. -
I would love this draft. The LB out of Southern Miss will be a stud.
-
@RapSheet: The No. 1 overall player on the #Bills board? Tavon Austin. So... Would they trade that? Intrigue
-
Not drafting a QB is why we're in this mess right now. They had several opportunities in the past to draft QBs early, and passed for whatever reason. Now, we are in a position where we are expected to draft a QB. Whose to say that the QBs are going to be better next year? What if we pass on one of these "Mediocre" QBs in this draft and they go on to become a perennial Pro-Bowler?
-
Chris Mortensen @mortreport The Bills' 8th slot may be generating most pre-draft buzz: Tavon Austin or QB? Or trade back & pick between Nassib & Barkley?
-
I would be fine with Austin at #8, then taking a QB like Manuel or Dysert later in the draft. He provides a number of options and would work well with Spiller and SJ13.

Heading San Diego for the first time
Phlegm Alley replied to Virgil's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Gaslight district in downtown San Diego is always a good time. I couldn't speak of specific bars there, but generally speaking, there are a lot of fun establishments in that area, including a dueling piano bar that is always a good time. Another option would be to head to Mission Beach, which is about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown and features a number of beach themed bars, restaurants and lounges. Quality talent there as well. It is difficult to not have a good time.
