On to Minnesota (get this game in the rear view mirror!)
Fan in Chicago replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seeing the D performance against the Jets, its evident that this is very true. We speak about the usual key players - Allen, Diggs, Miller but MIlano is a critical piece of the D. Who do we have that is a half way decent backup? Dodson? -
No - no injury is a "good thing"
-
I hope Beane doesn't over think this. It's somewhat of a dice roll but it's worth it. We need to explore every option to increase our chances of winning the SB. This the most available one.
-
Yep, as a rental he would be a good option provided he is healthy. Timing seems to be good too - he can be ready by late December. Plus, let's not underestimate his desire to make splash plays - they may be just what we need for a SB push.
-
I agree pretty much your entire post - Beane said recently that "tackles dont grow on trees" and I contend that neither do good Guards and Centers. That should not have been a big revelation and exactly why these positions need to be drafted in the first 3 rounds. So, I am fully on board with the consternation regarding non-attention to OL I differ with your view in the bolded above - holding opponents to under 20 should be enough. We do need to stop them from controlling clock with a ground game. I am shocked at what we saw in the last 6 quarters - this was a problem last year and the reason why we invested in the DT positions over the off-season. And yet, we are as susceptible as last year. My (unpopular) opinion is that I think Frazier is not the right coach for flexibility and scheming when facing a strong OL and run game. If, with his experience, he has shown an inability to use the vast resources provided to him to stop offenses at the right time. Back to the O, we have to cut down on the turnovers and bench some underwhelming performers. I said in another thread that, after yesterday's game, am convinced we need to get OBJ now. Let him heal, learn and come up to speed for the games in late December onwards.
-
D has to button up the run D as it has been exposed since the second half of the GB game. I think its more a problem with not adjusting the scheme and who is on the field at the right times. But be that as it may, holding an opponent to under 20 points should technically be more than adequate against a O led team like the Bills. If the O was able to sustain drives and end in scores, the opposing team is much more limited in its grind and pound options (basic complementary football). This loss is clearly on Allen (esp the two brutal interceptions) and the O in general. His multiple INT games are bothering me. He should do a whole lot better in protecting the ball.
-
Given the issues we are seeing with the receiving corps, I now believe we need to roll the dice and sign OBJ now. Get him in, studying the offense till he is ready for game time. Then, hopefully get him playing time in December to be ready for the playoffs. I don't care if we "overpay" him. He would be a bet which could pay off when teams scheme against us like the Jets did

Bills are Now Out of the Spotlight
Fan in Chicago replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would only be depressing if there was even an iota of truth in it -
Given the talent they have already added, and Tua looking more than just serviceable, that is not a bad slate for next two drafts. With no #1 next year, they have to ride with Tua and hope that he stays healthy. But clearly, they are not going to be walkovers for this season and next.

Could somebody please have a chat with Thad Brown?

That is an incredibly moronic tweet. How can someone think this way when it concerns injuries to players of opposing teams? -
he is also being used a tad more as a pass catcher. Singletary is adequate for the Bills offense but I like that Hines brings the dual catch/run threat to complement him
-
i typed before Hurts came back in. Good night, guys
-
why not go for 2?
-
likely game over
-
way too much blitzing even though its not working
-
As my predictions for blowouts vs close games have been largely the reverse of reality, I say Bills squeak by with a 23-19 win
-
So the choice for Singletary is - look for a big second contract, play it out and retire in 3-4 years (typical career span of a RB) Or stay with the Bills for a lower average $/year and extend career due to lower tread on tires per year At the end of his career, he sees the same wear on his body but the same $ in pocket, its all good. Plus he is much more likely to retire with rings while playing for the Bills as opposed to playing for the middling teams who have money to spend but not the overall talent to win the big one.

Allen’s QBR last night was 83.6
Fan in Chicago replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder if he was just bored after the first half and made careless mistakes. Of course it's not an excuse but he looked visibly sharper in the first half. 🙃 -
Have some more wine before throwing and the you will see the perfect spiral

Week 8: SNF Packers at Bills (-10.5) 10/30 8:20pm

Looks like the Rodgers drama queen act is rubbing off on you. You and Zerovoltz (Chiefs) are respectful fans who are welcome here. Get over yourself and keep coming back. Full disclosure - Packers were my second favorite team till Rodgers became a nut case. -
Congratulations on your future win

The dream Super Bowl of the two small market teams wont happen for several years now. Till before last season's playoffs (when Rodgers was still good), I was salivating at the thought of a Allen-Rodgers Superbowl. My other wish was for the Bills to blowout a Brady led team in the Superbowl. Oh well. -
clearly he is missing his favorite tight end

Does the seconds hand go from 12 directly to 14 seconds? -
Congratulations on your future win

We were like you once. The Packers' first step is to kick the cry baby out and start afresh. It will be painful for a few years but hope they dont go the Colts route of looking at washed up QBs to kick the can down the road While it will be far better than a 1 point loss, a win of lower than 10 pt margin will be a disappointment
