Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
Fan in Chicago replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
That hierarchy isnt changing this season so let us see how it plays out. I am not yet worried about Diggs and his alleged poor behavior but it bears watching just to see if there is any truth to those perceptions about his attitude. No matter how good the team and coaching are, the low times eventually come over the course of the season and playoffs. You won't. 😀 -

What he saying is - we are over the cap or under but we don't have any more space 😀 Gobbledegook best to just ignore this stuff. -
This offseason was refreshingly different with the addition of mcGovern, Torrance and others + drafting Kincaid and a host of others on the O side. Yes, we can argue that many of those additions are unproven but at least the attention went to the correct places. My only "but" is another proven, speedy WR to complement Diggs. I dont think we have one to take advantage of Allen's arm fully - like a John Brown or Sanders. If one is added before the season starts, the roster top to down will be fantastic.

Mortgaging the future has a negative connotation and also ignores the fact there is always a future - this year and next. "Kicking the can down the road" has a similar, negative implication. I prefer thinking of it as "managing the cap" which includes knowing when to hold it and when to blow it. When a team is as close to winning it all as the Bills are, we should be in the latter mode. With the Floyd numbers presented earlier in this thread, it looks like there is little money for signing Hopkins.

Then we would be greedy but let's laugh about that when we get there, shall we?

Let us see if Oliver's extension has freed up money right now. Not saying that the money should be spent on Hopkins but I have dreams of a speedy WR, capable of being our # 2, being strangely available for a trade. If that dream were to come true, the Bills would clearly become one of the top 2 favorites to win it all. -
Got it. Again, forums and opinions of fans who dont know how to judge DL performance means squat. I am one of the latter but am glad that we locked up a key position for the long term and removes a "must draft" for next year.

You should. you made the claim that "We're taking a beating in the national media." I went and searched and have no evidence or written word about said beating. If you are pointing to "forums" or conflating them with "national media" , its totally your fault. If you have been called out on your statement, the onus is on you to prove your statement. Else the statement has zero meaning.

Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?
Fan in Chicago replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
That one is indeed a glaring example. It was an in-season game but in the playoffs where teams are hyper competitive a mistake or lack of awareness can lose a game, as a single spectacular play (a la David Tyree) can win it -
Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”

In my 24-some years being a board member, you are the fourth person who will be on my ignore list (in a minute). -

The more I read about yours and @4merper4mer's posts, the more I have thought objectively about this. Pros: - Game breaking ability - Split top end coverage between him and Diggs - A very low drop percentage - Another safety blanket for Allen - Big game experience which would stand in good steed during the playoffs (when we have badly needed O help) Cons: - Recent injury history - (irrespective of what people think about the type of enhancers) Broke league rules - AZ could not find a suitor for a trade despite being open to eating part of his salary - Benchmarks against other 30 + WRs which reflect unfavorably on his chances of sustained success We cannot over-look the red flags for someone who Dorsey would scheme into the gameplan. If the FO and medical staff think that he can sustain a season (and Bills seasons are long with playoff games included) full of strain even if the number of snaps is managed then by all means do the cap magic and fit him in. He can be the missing piece to a truly fantastic offense. But if his availability is in doubt, then the Bills should take a pass. Worst case, make it a back end loaded 2 years contract with exit for "substance abuse" and playing time. Also, the last thing I want Beane to do is to sign him as a PR measure and to placate the vocal crowd who is pounding the table for signing him. I am decidedly less enthusiastic than I was a couple of days ago. -
I believe this to be the reason for his disinterested performance in the Bengals game. He was uncharacteristically detached and cold in that game. Also why I keep harping on the suggestion that such athletes should not get romantically involved in the prime of their careers. Not everyone can handle the demands of a personal relationship when they have to perform supremely on the football field on game day. Allen should just play the field with the ladies and save the "honey, I love you more than football" crap till after he retires.

From the pictures, I fully agree (with respect to her of course) Now if you said she was a Bills Fan, there would be no cause for any debate 😀

Let's try this thought exercise (without exact numbers) Say the Bills sign Hopkins with a back ended 2 years contract. He puts us over the top and we win the Superbowl. Next off season, we dint have the money to pay Oliver and we have to draft his replacement. Would you be sad? -

But personal finances are for the long term. Slow and steady is a good philosophy NFL is very very different. We have suffered long enough. I just want to win one now. -

I very much disagree. I rather get the first Lombardi and worry about the next decade later. It's better to win at least one than be above average for 10 years -

I absolutely loved this. Let's make this happen. Idc about mortgaging the future. Make this our year, go all in -
My thoughts as well. Don't get hitched till your playing career is over.
