  1. Much as I would like to have Cutler, I really don't like the idea of throwing our second rounder as well. We have not been very cavalier in signing free agents to plug the holes in our lines, especially the OL. At a minimum, we need the early picks to have half a chance of doing so through the draft. No matter who the QB, it will be tough for him to throw to Evans or TO if he isn't upright.
  2. You mean they are busy with making all the deals to fix the holes and using our large cap in signing premier players ?
  3. We need to merge the two threads about Cutler. Looks like we are going to be re-gurgitating the same pros and cons arguments in this thread
  4. Good that you at least have the humility to accept that you were wrong.
  5. Having an opinion about his ego and about him as a player are two different things. He said he had a better arm - a point which is debatable. But he did not say he was a better QB than Elway. So IMO, that statement of his was quite minor and not really very arrogant. Secondly, he has put up good numbers - a lot better than most of our recent QBs. We now have good receivers also and there is no reason to believe he won't put up similar numbers in Buffalo, given a decent OL. (Note: the OL is a different discussion. With the same OL, I think Cutler will put up better numbers than Edwards). I really want Buffalo to be a player in the Cutler sweepstakes and hope we get him.
  6. Last year, when he wanted to take an extended break some around here were suggesting he work in the off-season with his WRs. A notion many poo-pooed at the time saying he deserved his break. If this marks a change for him, I am all for it.
  7. Just a year ago, several of us (including me) were excited about what he will do in his first full season and boy was it under-whelming. I choose to be un-excited this time around.
  8. I am not sure I agree with that. It seems that his accuracy declines as the season wears on. He was very very accurate in his first year when he took over for the injured JP. He started last season very good (not as gerat as 2007 though) but was quite bad towards the end of last season. And yes, I was watching him throw the ball where it needed to be but not succeeding a fair majority of the time.
  9. Let me get this right - we are all getting on Cutler's case because of his one comment regarding his arm being better than Elway's ? Is that all we have on him ? Over-rated or not, he has put up better numbers than Trent. He is the one who worked his rear last off-season with his WRs. I like that work ethic. And, I don't mind a bit of cockiness if his numbers back him up. Just because his new coaching staff doesn't like him does not mean they should engage in a PR war to down play his value. If you say, he had better weapons, then we have excellent WRs now. I think we will be better off if we have Cutler throwing to Evans and TO than Trent. And if Cassel set the price range for QBs, then I would argue Cutler should be had for a second or third rounder.
  10. Whew ! Thanx. I had my hopes up for a while.
  11. TT really believes we were one good WR away from making the playoffs ?
  12. So what happens when a guy who can produce plays for a guy who can't ?
  13. Why did you start a new thread for this topic ?
  14. Got to be one of the most hilarious thing I have ever seen. Ofcourse, it is only a poor Bills fan who can laugh at his own misery.
  15. Did not read the multiple pages on this thread. When I heard the news, the first thing that came to mind is - a Tom Donahoe-ish move. All flash, little chance of doing much good to the team's chances. Window dressing for a poor FA period this year.
  16. Adblock Plus, Image Zoom are my fav add-ons.
  17. I can understand your frustration at the negativity. But isn't a lot of it justified ? After multiple losing seasons and pronouncement by the owner of a lack of talent, we still seem to not get some really good FAs. And this after us having boatloads of cash to spend. I am not sure the lack of activity is due to factors the Bills have no control over. Sometimes, they just have to make it happen and instead they seem to be ultra-passive about upgrading key positions and in not striving to keep our own.
  18. I, for one, have nothing better to discuss. What do you have ? Discussion about the great FA signings we have had ?
  19. Okay, sorry abt Saturday. But I don't buy the excuse for not being in the game regarding Birk. I would think that the FO would be in the know if acquiring Birk was a possibility. We all know that the OL now is severely depleted and the FO should have been aggressively looking for possibilities in plugging the gaps. We should have known about Birk's contract situation - why did the Ravens know ?? Also, I don't think acquiring Hangartner should have stopped us from continuing to look. He is one of at least 2 that we needed on the OL.
  20. BuffaloBill took that pic of Niagara Falls while waiting to see Jauron go over in a barrel.
  21. If those numbers are indeed true, I am even more disgusted by the lack of action by the FO. Either one would be an immediate upgrade as a C. And Hangartner can play G or C so getting Birk or Saturday would have allowed Hangartner to play G and we would have a solid line. So far, this must be one of the worst FA periods in recent Bills history.
  22. Good one ! What a deceiving and stupid thread title.
  23. Not if Lynch+Lynch's legal troubles = loss of playing time due to suspensions
  24. That 'if' is what I am worried about. The other side of that 'if' is if McK under-performs at the CB position, we would have saved money to increase risk at a position where we did not need to. I have said this in other threads also - at some point we need to spend the money we have. If not on a couple of top flight FAs, then at least on the above average ones - preferably ones we already have (Peters, Crowell as examples)
  25. That is not the point. I think if Lynch is let go, Jackson would start. The equation to think about is Lynch+Lynch's off-field troubles+Jackson > Jackson+Foster/Jones ??? The author does make some valid points. We are presumably set at RB so there is little reason to bring in these second-tier running backs unless Lynch or Jackson are not in the Bills' plans for 2009.
